Re: Right Tackle and Free Safety
That might be true, but KC played four years in a pro-style offense and RG3 none in college. All this KC is better might be true with certain things, but he had a chance and didn't deliver!! Rg3 might not be the future qb we want, KC want be neither!!
How did KC have a chance but RG3 didnt? How can you write off KC but not RG3? we all want RG3 to be a stud but KC should be judged objectively on his own merits as well. |
Re: Right Tackle and Free Safety
right now they all suck, point blank. it'd be great if one of them were any good, but until someone steps up, there's no point assuming anything else.

Yep. If you've got three QBs you've got none. |
Re: Right Tackle and Free Safety
It's really simple. Our line isn't great and none of our QBs are anywhere near good enough to make up for it even a little and may actually make it look worse. BUT...it is easier to address the line and then constrain the QB scheme-wise in a constructive way. You can't do it the other way around. Well maybe we did a little in 2012 when Griffin played well and made the line look good because we didn't actually make them do any real NFL-level stuff but that was fleeting obviously.
I don't understand why people don't get this. |

He sure seems like he understands football. I hope we can have real teams from now on! |
Re: Right Tackle and Free Safety
Anyone have any numbers on how Jonathan Martin rated out last year? I know he started 9 games, bit than that nothing.

Re: Right Tackle and Free Safety
I think they want to see what Moses can do at RT.

Re: Right Tackle and Free Safety
In the article on the Redskins defense that Matty just posted, Jay Gruden said that DeAngelo Hall may be moved to FS. Has he ever said that before now? If so, I don't recall it.
Although Hall doesn't have ideal size for the position, I think he could do a good job there. |
Re: Right Tackle and Free Safety
I am hopeful for Hall to do well at FS if they go this route. He's smart and his ball-hawking skills would come in handy.. Hoping his tackling has improved over time, has been better in recent years.
However, to rely on Hall's transition as a leap of faith will be a mistake. Would need a backup plan - FA veteran. The draft is good too, but anyone we draft wouldn't help us this year since it would only be a middle-to-low round pick. |
Re: Right Tackle and Free Safety
Watch for free safety prospect from penn state Adrian Amos
|
Re: Right Tackle and Free Safety
I could see us using a nickel base coverage with Hall in the slot or middle, not FS.

I agree. Good cover skills and smart. Not very aggressive in the run game but he can be coached up on that. He study's film well and doesn't take a lot of risks which is fine with me. Showed good speed at his Pro Day. Re: Right Tackle and Free Safety
So the way things are looking now what are the plans at Safety? It doesn't seem like there are any good ones left in FA, and the draft is a bit dry at that spot.
Are we basically waiting for Goldson to get cut? If not who are the starters day 1? Johnson at SS and Ihenacho at FS? It seems with the lack of depth in the draft any safety we take won't be a day one starter (unless we trade back and take Collins), which I don't see us doing. At this point what are you guys thinking? Safety is one of our biggest needs and seems to be one we're overlooking. (AGAIN) |

Its not a real good year to get safeties in general and we did sign one. Its clear that McC wants to improve the defense so I doubt he is overlooking it. The last thing we need is to make a mistake by overpaying a player out of desperation. Go BPA in the drafts, be smart in FA, and it will eventually come together. This was never a one year rebuild. |
