Spooky. Just a couple of hours ago I checked to see if Dyami had signed with anyone else just to see if he might be a viable option. I like it. I can see us taking Tate at 7 as well |

Jefferson and Brown really ups our WR depth. We still need a legit #2 to go with Terry but I really like those two moves.

I am kinda meh about them. We have Jaylin Lane and Like McCaffrey too, and the numbers on Brown and Jefferson don't suggest that they're likely to be significant upgrades over them (although they're admittedly different kinds of WRs -- outside the hashes/speed guys). Obviously, after last season, we need more depth so that we don't end up signing guys off the street again, and I am all for competition for WR slots 3-6 (assuming we go with 6; Scary #1 and our #2 not yet on the team) as between these 4 and anyone else we sign. It does make me think they're going to target Aiyuk as the #2 whenever the 9ers release him. Personally, I'd have rather have had Jennings and/or Samuel than both of these guys. |
Re: 2026 Commanders Free Agency
Oh, and are we going to re-sign Chris Paul or what? I'm surprised he hasn't been signed yet (by someone).
|
Re: 2026 Commanders Free Agency
We just re-signed Chris Paul. Excellent. I'll shamelessly (and undeservedly) take credit since it happened minutes after my post.
Looks like the deal with Dyami Brown was for 1 year at $3M. He had a 1 year, 10$M deal with Jax least season, so quite a discount for us by waiting a year (although Jax obviously overpaid). |
2026 Commanders Free Agency
Love the Paul signing.
Good job Calia [emoji1690][emoji1690][emoji1690] |

Good job Calia [emoji1690][emoji1690][emoji1690][/quote] Thanks, Punch! As many of my law firm partners have observed, my real skills lie outside of the law. ; ) Seriously, very happy about this signing. It's nice recognition for a guy who clearly put int he work to get on the field and made the most of it. |
Re: 2026 Commanders Free Agency
I think Brown is a stretch the field placeholder until we sign a better guy that does the same. He kinda isn't great, I have no idea who the other guy is, you'd probably do better with a udfa, who knows.

Re: 2026 Commanders Free Agency
I think we also need a placeholder tall perimeter CB until we find someone better

Re: 2026 Commanders Free Agency
Center. We need a center. Not much there in the FA market at this point.

Well, with Chris Paul back at LG, that leaves Allegretti at Center OR ideally Coleman who should be starting somewhere on the line. IF Brandon Coleman can become an effective Center (he played some in college I hear) then the woes of Allegretti are gone. However, I heard Keim indicate he spoke with someone who knows line play outside the team who didn't think there was a huge dropoff from Badass to Allegretti, primarily due to leadership and asserting the right calls, of course physically he's not as good. So, having Paul back has a domino effect of flexing Brandon Coleman to Center as a new possibility. Although I bet they still draft on in say the 5th round, where they can still be found. I think I am ok with where they are at Center now. My main worry is WR2, WR3, CB2, RB1, then maybe Safety and more Edge and Kicker. WR2 is a legit gap that MUST be resolved, the rest we can survive another year if need be |
Re: 2026 Commanders Free Agency
I'm starting to think about who's out there for WR2, most of these guys have attitude concerns, including both 49ers guys. Deebo is fine though, so he should be an option. Keenan Allen is 32, but he's a big dude and can play the slot and outside. I can see a world where we sign him for a year to be our #2. I know he is not 25, but neither is anyone else worth a crap who is available. Other guys are either small slot only guys, or have some sort of legal trouble or curse guys wives on the field (jennings)
Deebo doesn't do that crap. Having a good teammate is more important than another 100 yards receiving in my opinion. Why are all the remaining available WR head cases? Or should I ask, why do NFL GMs not immediately sign highly talented WR who have a chip on their shoulder, to the point where they get arrested, or assault, or bad mouth, or refuse to honor contracts..I mean what the hell is up with these primandonas? Give me Art Monk 2.0 please. Deebo is looking better with every passing day |
Re: 2026 Commanders Free Agency
I think AP is still keeping his options open for Deebo and Aiyuk. Given he doesn't appear to have pursued Jennings and signed Brown and Jefferson as depth competition, I think he's waiting to see what SF do and whether Deebo signs before the draft. He then has options in/after the draft if both are going to be available. I don't agree with drafting a WR at 7 as it stands, but he could get a WR2 after rd 1 and not bother with Aiyuk/Deebo. All options are in play at this point.
