Re: So Now Who Do You Root For?

Back to the thread, well I'm obiously rooting for the Packers to go all the way but I don't know who I'm rooting for in the Giants vs. Cowboys game. I would like the Giants to win cause i have money on them, but if the Giants win they'd be going on the road to play GB and they've only lost one on the road this year. Then again Favre's never had any luck playing in Dallas so it should be a tough game next week for the Packers no matter who they play.
Ironically, I'm going to put in my support for the Packers to go all the way. I think it would be awesome to see Brett go out on top. In the past I would have pulled for the Chargers with Marty running the show, but after seeing that display of poor sportsmanship by River's I changed my mind.

I actually hope that Charlie Whitehurst gets a chance should Rivers ever go down, but thats mainly because I played on the same team as him during his senior year of High School. Always good when I can work that fact into a converstation about something thats barely related.

Anyway the Patriots are evil, the Cowboys and Giants can both lose for all I care, and the Colts already got a title. So with that said go Pack.
Did you see Rivers jawing at the crowd at the end of the Colts game today? WTF

Wow. Norv Turner is in the AFC Championship game as a head coach. Never thought I'd say that!

Re: So Now Who Do You Root For?

Sucks the Colts lost. I'm definitely pulling for the Patriots to beat the Chargers next week.

I used to kind of like the Chargers until Norv was handed that team. Turner must be the most undeserving head coach in the entire NFL.

It's hard for me to pull for the Patriots though. I'm actually not too upset that the Colts lost. I wouldn't mind seeing the Chargers and the Packers in the Super Bowl.

Re: So Now Who Do You Root For?

Man that sucks. I was really pulling for the Colts on that one and I would've liked to see Dungy go out a winner... If there's any team that would make me root for the Pats, SD is that team. Between Merriman, Rivers, LT and Norv, there's not alot to love on that team. What the hell is up with LT getting whiny on the sidelines every week. He's an awesome player but he's getting pretty damn near diva territory.

GTripp0012 01-13-2008 04:30 PM

Re: So Now Who Do You Root For?

I think this either proves that a lot of people were wrong on Norv, or a lot of people were wrong on the effects of coaching on winning playoffs games in general.

I mean, if Norv can do it, who can't?

I hear ya on that! I think the only reason I'm not too upset over it is because I like seeing somebody different in the Super Bowl each year....especially on the AFC side. Of course, I'm going for the Packers to win it all. Bret Favre deserves to go out a winner.

Yeah, Rivers is a tool. At some point you've got to be at least a little bit mature right? I mean you make millions of dollars to play a game, how about acting like a pro?

Yeah, I thought Rivers was Ryan Leaf for a minute there. I have family in southern California, so I'm leaning towards San Diego. I wouldn't mind seeing Bret Favre win another Super Bowl though.

I refuse to believe that, no one is stupid enough to talk trash like that a second time on National Television except for Michael Vick. It's ok, one day Charlie Whitehurst is going to go from the NFL's best headset wearer to the best LT hander-offer.

Certainly the San Diego Chargers, because of Norv Turner. Norv is such a good and decent man, with such an exceptional talent, and I hope he wins the Super Bowl.

Can't go with the Chargers. Rivers has really shown his ass as of late. I just hope the rest of the team doesn't condone that baby ass behavior.

Giants, NO
Pats, Hell NO.
Gotta go with the Packers.

I always liked and rooted for the Chargers. He makes it REALLY hard to do. Did you see him fighting with some guy in the stands?!

Sure, the guy probably started it, but that happens EVERYWHERE, you have to rise above that.

Yeah I saw that. Very professional wasn't it.

Like you said REALLY hard to pull for them these days, and he's the lone reason. I let it slide after the Denver game. I just chalked it up to emotion, but after yesterday I chalk it up to immature stupidity. It's silly when an elite player talks smack and Rivers certainly hasn't reached that level yet. Probably never will.

A better question is who do I root against: Dallas and New England.
Seeing Dallas choke away the #1 seed made my day. I'm still pulling hard for the Packers next week at Lambeau.

Rivers seems like an ass. He was jawing a few weeks ago on the sidelines after the Chargers had wrapped the game up. He was jawing yesterday with fans. He told his own fans to STFU when they booed him. The guy also just looks like a turd.

OMG I HATE RIVERS. Dude has no class what so ever. He just can't keep his mouth shut and play. Someone needs to talk to him behind closed doors and tell him to stop acting like he's still at NC State. You don't see all the other QB's acting like that. I hope NE beats the crap out of SD next week.

He's been acting like a bitch since he was in college. I remember when NC State was playing MD. and he almost got his ass beat by Merriman after a game. He was running his mouth to alot of the MD. defenders and Merriman had to be held back from killing the guy. It's funny now cause they're teammates. I know alot those guys on SD still wish they had Brees. Better QB and a much classier guy.

Rivers acts like a 13 year old punk kid. It's a shame really because he's a talented QB, if he could just reel in his childish attitude he could be a damn good QB and leader.

I'd love to see it. The GB fans are really great; the day after Sean Taylor's death pretty much everyone on my floor (all GB fans) came into my office to express their sympathies. I've also been to Lambeau a few times and they're the classiest fans I've ever met. For example, an unofficial Packers band played "Hail to the Redskins" in the parking lot at Lambeau before the Skins-Packers game. Who does that?
