Re: LOST (Warning: Possible Spoilers)

Just about to bring up this thread. It was a pretty good episode, interested to see how they plan to "move" the island, while the chopper is has pretty much landed on the island.

Can anyone explain the whole time continium thing for me? How did the Doc wash up on shore with a slit throat last week and they are just now slitting his throat this week? If thats the case then what is happening now on the island hasnt happened yet. so confusing....
Ben got cancer while on the island.

Also, did Claire really survive her house being blown up? Why was Miles so fascinated by her?
If she died in the cabin, then how did Sawyer carry her into the house where Locke and Ben were? And why would Sawyer give Miles a restraining order? Or are they all dead like Hurley said they were?

What's with the dude who was quizzing young Locke. I forget his name on the show, but he doesn't age at all does he?

Alpert. Richard.

He, Locke, Ben and Jack are the keys to this whole thing. With a little Christian and now Claire thrown in for good measure. She is Jack's sister. Everyone else is riding their boat I think.

Maybe he does age, but he's jumping around in time because of the island, so it only seems like he doesn't age.

Also, doesn't it seem like Widmore is sort of responsible for Locke ending up on the island? It was his man (Daniels from The Wire) that gave him the idea of going on a walkabout, which put Locke on 815.

I might have to watch last night's episode again...

Re: LOST (Warning: Possible Spoilers)

Yeah its almost as if everyone on the island got there not b/c of accident. I am sure it will reveal that they all play a part in a grand scheme of some kind, like the scientists. We do not know why they were picked based on the nature of their professions. As far as Sawyer giving Miles a restraining order, we have seen alot weirder on that island. It would not surprise me if Claire was just a vision since the only other person who saw her was the guy who can see dead people. He probably woke up and found Aaron who had been there all along.
If this season is only 13 weeks, are they adding the 3 weeks onto one of the last two seasons? I recall they signed a 48-episode deal last year, but I haven't heard if the strike changed that.
We're getting the extra episodes over the last two seasons. Nice!

Great episode so far tonight. The orchid is an interesting facet. I love how Sun stuck it to her father in the flash-forward.

Seems interesting, I am still perplexed about "moving the island".

It has something to do with the orchid, or at least that's what the writers want us to think. The guys from the boat seem to have beat Ben and Locke back there. I actually think it was just more of Ben's BS. He knows that Widmore "changed the rules," so he probably realized the only way he was getting off the island was to be captured. He may have just suckered Locke and Hurley into following. Like he told Locke, "I always have a plan, John."

On a side note, "moving" the island could be referring to this whole issue of time difference between the outside world and the island. Maybe moving the island doesn't refer to a physical movement at all. Maybe they're referring to shifting it's place in time...

How did they harness the power of the island before Darma put all of those stations there? Was Widmore part of Darma?

Yeah, I was real surprised that no one posted. I thought it was good. Not mind blowing, but good. I thought the insertion of the name Jeremy Bentham was interesting. Jeremy Bentham - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia He was a very forward thinking man for his time. The Rousseau/Locke/Bentham names pretty much prove the show is some sort of blend of metaphors for philosophical theory.

I gotta admit, I was shocked when Ben "moved" the island. I thought he was somehow going to shift it's place in time. I thought it was pretty bizarre that it actually physically disappeared into the ocean.

Sawyer isn't one of the Oceanic 6. He's still on the island.

Re: LOST (Warning: Possible Spoilers)

When Ben put that winter parka on and said where he's going it's cold, I thought for sure he was headed to the arctic base from a couple of seasons back where those guys called Penny from.

There were a couple of moments that I was expected some "shocking moment" yet ended up being sort of whatever. When Kearney (the big Rambo dude) was down in the hatch (and not dead), I thought "oh shit, this is some sort of freaky time travel shit going on" but then it was just that he had body armor on. And then when Kate sees Claire in the room with Aaron I was like Woah!...but then it was just a dream...or was it?

Overall, I liked it. Didn't compare to last season's season finale though.

overall the episode was ehh. did anyone else think the special effects, especially the explosions, were really substandard compared to the rest of the series?

Last year's season finale was a game changer though. Hard to top. Plus this year's eps, especially the final set were some of the best they've done so the finale had big shoes to fill based on last year's and was coming right after a murderer's row of eps.

I am quite afraid next season is going to suck. Lindeloff and Cuse basically said so in an interview. They alluded to the fact that next year was basically a place setting season for the last season. We know how much place setting eps suck for Lost. Boring.

Good points.

If I remember right, a couple of months back they said that season 5 is about why they need to go back and season 6 is what happens when/if they go back

Pretty interesting interview. Personally, I think he's rather off-base with some of his statements

What a d-bag. Not very smart, either - TV producers tend to use the same folks over and over in their series. He just wrote himself out of Abrams's next project.
