Re: Election Day Thread 2008
And, some live mic Obama:
The debates unnerved both candidates. When he was preparing for them during the Democratic primaries, Obama was recorded saying, "I don't consider this to be a good format for me, which makes me more cautious. I often find myself trapped by the questions and thinking to myself, 'You know, this is a stupid question, but let me … answer it.' So when Brian Williams is asking me about what's a personal thing that you've done [that's green], and I say, you know, 'Well, I planted a bunch of trees.' And he says, 'I'm talking about personal.' What I'm thinking in my head is, 'Well, the truth is, Brian, we can't solve global warming because I f---ing changed light bulbs in my house. It's because of something collective'."
|
Hilarious quote right there.
I also heard her $150k shopping spree was "tens of thousands more" than that initial figure, and there were rumors that she had campaign aids charge stuff for her on their credit cards. If she's the future of that party... all I can say is wow.
I sure hope not. I don't think she's the devil, but frankly she's got no business even thinking about running for president. Hopefully the GOP spends the time between now and 2010 making sure she doesn't run in 2012, and then 2010-2012 actually molding a competitive candidate. |

Yeah pretty much. Seperate yourself from this disaster so you can still find work on the next one. |
Did you guys hear Palin thought Africa was a country? And that she didn't know what countries are in NAFTA? Her selection will go down as one of the historical political goofs.
No I missed that one. But I heard how our new president elect said that there were 57 states, and he still had a couple more to visit. |

No, he didn't. He said he had visited 57 states, and that he had 3 left. There's a big difference between misstating something you know and making ignorant statements. |

You mean he wasn't talking about visiting 57 Islamic states? |
Re: Election Day Thread 2008
Palin defending herself. I'm inclined to agree with her...if you're gonna talk shit don't be a bitch, go on f'ing record.

Re: Election Day Thread 2008
Hey I just made up a riddle. Same word:
1) John McCains fav. basketball team 2) John McCains fav Mel Gibson movie 3) What John McCain would be driving if it weren't for that rich drug addicted wife of his... Anyone wanna take a stab? |
Re: Election Day Thread 2008
I was thinking of starting a prediction thread were everyone could predict what they think will happen or change in his first year as president. Then we could pull the thread up a year from now to see who got what right or wrong. I thought of this Tuesday night and thought it would be fun for whoever won the election. What do you guys think or should we wait until January?

Re: Election Day Thread 2008
I for one am glad it's over. I voted for McCain although I was wasn't happy w/ alot of the choices the Republican party made.
Maybe this deserves it's own thread but I can only hope the Obama gets full support and the respect that a president deserves regardless of your vote or political party. It's damn time the US comes together in this fashion and although i didn't vote for him, I respect him greatly and I respect the office of president greatly. There are those out there in the far left or far right that don't share my views and refuse to respect those elected that may be in a different party. I think that view is one of disrespect to the US. It's their right, but it doesn't make it right. |

We do need a hot chick thread. Just like random hot girls you see post their pics. Not like a bunch of celebrity pics. |

And when it's all said and done, I think he'll lose some friends on the left and gain some new ones on the right. |

Give him a break, at least he didn't confuse Obama with Osama. Don't worry jbcjr14, the ship is so off course even you could sit on the captain chair and steer it to land. I have confidence in your captaining skills.

Obama has used the word himself in the past. Hey he won but I still do not think he is going to run things as a moderate as some here think. If he did then I will feel lucky that how I feel now did not come true. If anything he is going to move to the left now that the election is over. |

Then count yourself lucky, First. Obama will move to the center on some things, and remain, well, a Democrat (left) on most of his issues. Besides, let's stop getting too caught up on what's right and what's left. How about moving forward and not backwards. How about solving problems. Who really cares which party get's credit. |

Present!!!! X 180. I hope he is not stupid. As a former Illinois native that voted for him in to get in the senate. I have some concerns for him voting present instead of yes or no. I don't care who you are, you vote on something. I hope he does a good job as president. I may of not voted for him but I will support him. Canada is too cold and Mexico is too messed up. I don't understand the spread the wealth idea. I am not rich by no means and by what is campaign promises I hope he sticks to his word. But we have all heard the no new taxes phrase. If that is what the Hollywood actors and athletes want then I hope they enjoy paying extra on taxes. My three main issues although there is many beyond this is, Taxes, Energy (oil/gas), and homeland security. I hope he does good on those. |
