Re: I Was impressed!!!
I'm happy about everything the first team o and d did except obviously for the play of Hall.
This has me extremely worried. I'm envisioning teams exploiting this glaring weakness all season now. Seems like a team with any speed/size at wideout can just run shotgun, spread the field and exploit Hall... I mean I know its Ratio Randy, dude is a monster, second best wideout in the game but that was horrible. What do you guys think? |
Re: I Was impressed!!!
Ah yes - that would be part of the Blind, Mindless Obedience doctrine -the pertinent portion that dictates, "If a player wears burgundy and gold, he WILL command undying support to the bitter end, regardless of one's opinion as to that player's relative worth to the organization. Disparaging remarks will not be tolerated."
If one's devotion to this team is measured in terms of the amount of criticism directed towards one or more of its players, based on some of the remarks I've seen over the relatively short period of time I've been a member of this forum, I dare say that there'd be a mass exodus of 'skins fans, were said detractors prone to subscribe to your philosophy. That said, I've been a "real fan" of the Redskins for darned close to forty years now, and I've seen nothing thus far that would warrant my defection, quarterback selection notwithstanding. This forum is all ABOUT opinions - and while you no doubt have heard the familiar saying about them - everyone's got one, most of 'em stink - we're ALL entitled to them, and within the boundaries of proper decorum, entitled to share them. If you find my opinions that objectionable, I respectfully suggest that you consider blocking them.
You failed to catch two points: 1) JC is our qb this year and that is not going to change. If you are going to cheer for the Redskins, that means cheering for JC. Tearing JC down serves no purpose because his presence will not change. 2) These forums are for intelligent critiques. Intelligent critiques in the spirit of conversation are more than welcome. Even JC's biggest supporters here have criticized JC at some point or another. So it is not about "mindless obeisance." But you do not offer intelligent critiques. You say stupid things and then ignore all evidence to the contrary. You refuse to listen to others. Therefore it is you who are inhibiting intelligent conversation here and that is why you heard (but did not listen to) the statements of exasperation. With your inability to listen to evidence which contradicts your shallow opinions, it is you who are engaging in "mindless obeisance" - that is, you pay mindless obeisance to your half-baked opinions. I congratulate you on your unintelligent narcissism. |

He more than likely won't play QB in the NFL |

Who knows if Tebow will be a great NFL QB or not? He doesn't even play the same position that NFL QB's play.

Well, I agree he may be a bit cumbersome for the small forward position :-) - are you suggesting tight end? |

Agreed I'm just worried about teams negating any pass rush with the shotgun spread offense and burning our corners. Like someone said earlier I hope hall gets more safety help over the top on certain receivers. Just seems like a weakness that teams will notice and expose. I don't see anyone running up the middle on us, but teams with certain personnel will give us fits, I can already see it happening. Hopefully our offense can contribute |

What he said, it doesnt look as if he'll play qb in the league Whos the last good qb from UF anyways? Was there ever one? |

I'm impressed with Marco for bringing some real competition to the wideout position. I think it helps make all the wideouts better.

Whos the last good qb from UF anyways? Was there ever one?
Kerwin Bell, Rex Grossman, Bob Hewko, Doug Johnson, Eric Kresser, Shane Matthews, Jesse Palmer, John Reaves, Kay Stephenson, Danny Wuerffel, and Steve Spurrier are all former UF QBs that played in the NFL. I get your point. But there's always a first time.... |

I get your point. But there's always a first time....
Was Jesse Palmer the dude on the bachelor a few years back? lol...I dont watch that show, I swear... yeah, I'm not a big JC fan, but I was enamored with his play on Friday (I'm extemely impressionable)...albeit in a preseason environment. I wanted them to trade for Cutler...but giving up the two first rounders woulve mortgaged our future...we desperately need o line help in the first round next year. And Orakpo looks like a building block for our franchise. Definitely wouldnt have moved up for Sanchez, although I think he has more potential than JC.... Shit, we've won our super bowls with average/below average qbs. Its all line play. But with that being said I do think Campbell is one of the low tier qbs in the league....I hope he proves me wrong this year. Other than qb we have the skill players to make some noise...but their window of opportunity is slipping...before we have to tear down and rebuild.. |

No, Hall stayed with him, but Moss made a move in the route and got inside of Hall. There was no way Hall could reach the ball or get through Moss. Great in-route move by Moss, I have to admit it. But, it doesn't make me worry about Hall's coverage...most CBs have trouble covering Moss. Hall stayed with him speed-wise, but just got beat by a nice move, a smart move. |

Yeah I hear you, if he hadn't gotten beat twice like that I wouldnt be worried... I dont know what the safety was doing, but I hope he wasnt playing the run on the Pats... |

I dont know what the safety was doing, but I hope he wasnt playing the run on the Pats...
CB Freddie Smoot started on the other side in place of injured C. Rogers. The safeties were helping Smoot over the top. It is preseason and they probably wanted to test and see if Hall could handle Moss in man coverage. Not many Cb's in the NFL can single cover Randy Moss. The problem is the Pats have Randy Moss, Wes Welker and Joey Galloway, with Brady throwing it to them. Who do you double? Moss will be doubled next time. I do see a problem with our depth at CB and few other positions. Barnes and Tryon are young and can not be counted on right now. |
Re: I Was impressed!!!
Well, I agree he may be a bit cumbersome for the small forward position :-) - are you suggesting tight end?
I think he will be either a TE or a pass catching full back. I do, however, think that the return of the single wing (wild cat) may find him a spot on an NFL roster as a "Quarterback." He could end up being a lot like Pat White, drafted to play run the wild cat/emergency qb spot and find a way to prove himself. My biggest problem with him isn't that he can't throw. He's not overly accurate, but that's not as much of a headache as his need to be a power runner. Guys are bigger in the NFL and that's a good way to get injured if you're not big enough to take the kind of beating that would be required of a power back. I'm afraid if someone selects Tebow to play Q, they'll spend much of their time wondering how his throwing shoulder gave out so early. |

I dont know what the safety was doing, but I hope he wasnt playing the run on the Pats...
He didn't get beat for both touchdowns. The first one was on him because he bit on a double move and Randy got position. I'm actually encouraged that he got deeked by Moss and stayed in the shot, much less staying in the best position he could. The second touchdown, however, looked like zone. Regardless, it was Landry that Moss ran by on the second TD. |

Re: I Was impressed!!!
Besides Tavaris Jackson...who?
Well, first of all, there were only 3 QB's who had a better QB rating in the postseason than Jason had in the reg. season. (PManning, Roethlisberger, Warner). That's not much of an apples-to-apples comparison though, because almost every QB in the playoffs had better regular season stats than in the playoffs (for obvious reasons). But here's the list of QB's in the playoffs last season whose *regular season* QB rating ranked below Jason Campbell: * Ben Roethisberger * Joe Flacco * Kerry Collins * Tavaris Jackson * Byron Leftwich (edited, can't believe I wrote Garrard, guess it was late) QB's in the playoffs last season whose regular season QB rating were 5 points higher (or less) than Jason Campbell: * Eli Manning * Donovan McNabb * Matt Ryan * Jake Delhomme That leaves only 5 QB's in the playoffs last season whose regular season QB rating was appreciably better than Jason Campbell: * Philip Rivers * P. Manning * Chad Pennington * Warner * Brees |

That's not what I was saying. I was saying that Tim Tebow acts as if he has to be a power runner and that's not a good thing. Regardless of his build, I don't think Tim Tebow could continue to run the way he does in the NFL and stay healthy. Tebow will take far too many clean hits in the NFL because he's not particularly shifty and I think that will prevent him from staying healthy. |

Jaguars went 5-11 last year lol... You cant tell me that Campbell is better than Ben Roethlisberger, theres no way anyone in their right mind will co-sign that statement as for Flacco and Collins thats a toss up with Campbell (I'd prefer Flacco personally) I argue the only qb "far worse" than Campbell in the playoffs as you put it, was Jackson...and he wouldnt be there without the o line and d line and Peterson. |

Hall totally missed jamming Moss at the line, which IMO had a huge effect on the play. |
