Re: The D. Hall incident
I'll be really interested to hear what folks have to say around here when Smith and the strength coach get fined 2 or 3 times what Hall is fined. Hall my get $5,000 but Smith and the strength coach will likely get at least $10k for being the aggressors.

Well let's see...the unreasonable people (those who believe Hall is the root of all the Redskins problem...and the world's) will complain about this and add that Hall should be suspended. The reasonable people would say that a coach has a greater responsibility given their position of authority, and that the penalty is justifiable. I would have been ok with both player and coaches getting the same penalty. |
Re: The D. Hall incident
Landry fined $5000 and Haynesworth fined $7500
No fine for Hall Smith expected to be fined by tomorrow Washington Redskins' Albert Haynesworth fined for role in sideline fracas - ESPN |

Per Twitter: @Jay_Glazer I'm reporting the NFL has fined Falcons head coach Mike Smith $15,000 for his confrontation with DeAngelo Hall

Hall may have ran his mouth but he did not grab or put his hands on anyone. The worse thing they can give for talking smack is 15 yards last time I checked. |
I picked, but really what does it say about: fan base, attitude, ownership, and overall team health that one fan base is ponying up money to show their support for their coach and team, while another is ponying up money to put on a public display designed to embarrass the owner and franchise.
I know I've never been more embarrassed as a fan, both because of our owner, but also, and even more so, because of the fans who think that riding a media frenzy against our team somehow does anything other than add to the media embarrassment our team already is.
The fan base here is sick of the bullshit and his side kick. This isn't Jacksonville. I'm not saying it's right but I understand it. After Gibbs 1 left we had some losing seasons but you didn't see the hostility towards MGT cause we knew that the people running the team has a plan and were capable. The fans in Atlanta will never get up enough money to pay for Smith's fine, just like the fans here will probably never raise enough $ to put up ads on the buses. |

I don't like Hall but I don't see him getting in trouble off the field. Pac Man Jones is a thug, Hall is just a punk. |

I wonder if in the course of making their determination they were limited to just sight and not hearing. The incident was one of provocation. |
Re: The D. Hall incident
I do find it funny that Hall wasn't fined at all, while Smith drew the biggest fine. It's not surprising though when you take off the Hall hating glasses and look at the video objectively.
Plus with Smith I think Goodell needed to send the message that coaches have no business mixing it up with players like that. |

From Rick Maese Tweeter:
Nothing for DeAngelo Hall, $15,000 for Atl coach Mike Smith. Jeff Fish, the Falcons' director of athletic performance, has to pay $2,500
I thought Fish should have had more, since he laid hands on Hall, but that's probably a sizeable sum for him? I don't have an idea what a director of athletic performance pay range would be. |

Goodell could have sent more of a message. |

No feedback from the anti-Hall folks? Interesting.

Figures... |
Re: The D. Hall incident
I think people focused way too much on Hall and not enough on what Landry did and did not do in this whole thing. Landry knew Hall was in trouble over there and simple did nothing. Justin Tryon has more heart that Landry. Landry's bad play is the reason this whole thing happened. The Redskins actually need more players with some sort of fight in them.

You don't know that. Landry had walked away as this started and as far as we know he did not even know it was going on. Just watch the clip and you can see him walking away with the Atl. QB (for got his name). Stick to facts and don't just make something up. |

I did watch it about 100 times at least. That is what I saw and I'm sticking to it. Horton was on the other side of the field and got back there before Landry did. |
Re: The D. Hall incident
I thought the whole point of Hall being there was to get Landry out of there. Things may have gotten worst if Landry went back...but then again it seems like the ATL sideline was going for Hall.

I agree but I actually think Hall was already there after chasing down the play. Also look at the video at 1:05 and I see Landry turn toward the sideline where Hall is in trouble. I believe that he had to see what was going on. I could be wrong though but he did turn toward that sideline. I mispoke earlier. Horton and Landry got back over there about the same time. |
