I've mentioned before here that I like Cowherd a lot off the air. And I can generally tell when he's just saying stuff to joke around...but I honestly don't know what he was thinking with his Wall comments. I totally disagree. Rondo is probably better than Wall right now but give it time.
Probably? Rondo is the top PG in the NBA right now. He's playing at an insane level. Had a triple-double with 24 assists! AVERAGING over 16 ast/gm and he's always near the league lead in steals too. |

It's a lot easier to average 16 assists in a game with three hall of famers on the floor with you. Rando is good, but he has so much more talent with him, than Wall does. |

I still put Deron Williams as the top PG in the league because he gets those 12-14 assists here and there averaging over 10 a game right now, is 10x better at the jump shot, has similar explosiveness as Rondo, because of his unique strength and speed there are very few pg's that match up well with him, and he does all of that despite not really having anyone else around him whereas like it was said before Rondo has 3 other All-Stars around him, 2 of which will be HOFers. |

Rondo is the real star on that team now. I agree, Deron Williams is in the discussion of top PG in the league. Derrick Rose also. If Chris Paul could stay healthy, he would be too. Wall could be in the mix in a year or two. |

Wall is fun to watch. Gil still looks hobbled and his defense has been depressing to watch, but if his shot starts to fall again, our offense could be decent. I liked Yi's and McGee's intensity tonight and Blatch looked good. I'm most impressed with Thornton's improvement. He's been very aggressive on offense and our best rebounder. I never thought he'd put up a fight when Josh Howard returns, but it looks like we will have two solid small forwards on the team. WE're still a 25-30 win team at best, likely a 20-25 win team, but I enjoy watching these guys. |

Without Wall, I think we'd be seeing a very inefficient scorer. |
Re: Washington Wizards 2010-2011 Ongoing Thread
How is his court vision? I'm hoping that last night was an indication because that speed isn't going to always be there so it would be nice to know that he'll be able to carry this team for a while. Granted of course that he doesn't try to dip out like every other NBA player worth a damn.

He's definitely benefiting from Wall's assists, but I've actually been more impressed with his ability to create his own shot in the block and his willingness to fight for rebounds. He lost a bit of weight in the offseason and it shows in his speed and jumping. Very spry. He's dunking in situations where he would have floated a shot last year. |

Re: Washington Wizards 2010-2011 Ongoing Thread
When Blache, McGee and YI toughen-up the Wizards will be both formidable and exciting. The Rockets are banged-up right now, but that can't devalue the Wizards effort last night. A triple double for the little big man.

Another Washington team got smoked last night. Well at least this time my team was on the winning side. =)
It sucked though becasue I want to see Wall vs. Rondo. |
Re: Washington Wizards 2010-2011 Ongoing Thread
Celtics are one of the deepest teams in the NBA. I expected a blowout since we were missing Yi and Wall. Even with them in, it would have been a really tough game.

Re: Washington Wizards 2010-2011 Ongoing Thread
What a win by the Wizards tonight, one point almost down by 30 and overcame it all. Wall with the smart move to make contact on his 3 pointer at the end of the game to tie it up and force OT, then Young to get wide open and drain the 3. Good D at the end as well plus a lucky miss haha.
Glad to see the Wizards getting more people in there. |

These were games that the Wiz would always lose in past seasons. McGee was a beast on the boards tonight- if he can sustain this level of play, we've finally got a force down low. Nice to see Wall send it to OT with three clutch FT's and NY with the tres dagger to ice it. |
Re: Washington Wizards 2010-2011 Ongoing Thread
Wall rebounded tremendously from his 0-5 first half. And thank goodness for Jrue Holliday's boneheaded mistake hitting Wall as he went up for the 3, unless Wall actually hits that shot and Holliday doesn't touch him the game would've been over. And that was a nice clutch game winner by Nick Young in OT, I couldn't believe he hit that. I'd like to see Gil get comfortable enough to start looking for the game winner himself because I know he has that ability but all the same I can't complain if another guy gets it done (not looking at you Andray). Great game and great comeback by the Wiz.

Actually, I think Wall actually made a pretty crafty decision. Holiday was trying to send him to the line for 2 (to prevent the 3 pt attempt) and Wall saw that. As soon as he touched him, he released the wild shot to get 3 attempts at the charity stripe. |

Oh I know he made the smart move to go up in the air for the wild 3, because if he hadn't than we would've only got 2 shots, so you are right to credit John Wall for doing the smart thing there. I feel like that was mostly Holliday's fault but Wall definitely deserves credit for doing the smart thing and getting up in the air so they called 3 shots. |

Hey now... no J-Wobble in the lineup. Plus the Heat were about to spontaneously combust if they didn't finally win a game (even if it was against a sub-.500 team). Just be happy with McGee and Young's development... Gil's looking like an increased stock value, lately. |

Not too disappointed by it. I heard the Heat are like 9-1 against sub .500 teams, so it's not a big shocker. As long as they keep stinking it up against the better teams in the league, I'll be faithful that they can stink it up when the chips are down and the playoffs are on the line. |

McGee is an athletic freak and Young is looking like he could be a mainstay at the 2 spot yet the fact of the matter is as a team they struggle on a night to night basis. Do they need a bunch of new players or do they need 2 or 3 more years? |

I'd love to see Gilbert stay. I see no advantage Wizards in a trade of this nature, especially to the magic. |
Re: Washington Wizards 2010-2011 Ongoing Thread
Seems like we've talking to the Magic for a few months now about Vince Carter, with Arenas off and on being part of the conversation. I think what's holding the Magic up is they're waiting to see if there's any way they can make a move for Chris Paul
|

Re: Washington Wizards 2010-2011 Ongoing Thread
Whoa! Over 70 points came from 3 different guards the highest of which came from Nick Young with 30, who started the game on the bench. Also 14 points from the Frenchman. Impressive loss.

Re: Washington Wizards 2010-2011 Ongoing Thread
Ted Leonsis continues to deny any trade rumors involving Gilbert Arenas, but they continue to surface, real or imagined. The Wizards need to do whatever they can to become a better basketball team, if trading Arenas is going to enhance the process so be it.
However, any trade should be designed with the hopes of making the team more competitive, and not just ridding themselves of the Arenas contract.
