^^ You seem to be remembering the TO of 3-4 years ago.

At this point he's not a guy that strikes fear in a defense.
Plus, if he were to come here, he'd expect to move right into the starting lineup as no less than the second receiver. Anything less than that, I can imagine him being the true malcontent he is. As usual with him it's risk vs. reward.

Ok so maybe he is not the TO of old, but he still is not Joey Galloway. I'm sorry but you can not tell me a 38 year old should be there over TO. I never have liked the guy, but from a football perspective he has the most left in the tank at the lowest price, especially not having to give up picks, that the Redskins can get.

2009 Season Stats

Santana Moss
Rec-70 Yards-902 TD-3 AVG-12.9
Terrell Owens
Rec-55 Yards-829 TD-5 AVG-15.1
A. Randle EL
Rec-50 Yards-530 TD-0 AVG-10.6
Devin Thomas
Rec-25 Yards-325 TD-3 AVG-13.0
Malcom Kelly
Rec-25 Yards-347 TD-0 AVG-13.9

My Points:
1. Statistically, Moss barely edged out Owens in receptions and yards. Owens dominated everyone else on our roster.
2. Owens played for BUFFALO last year. Who is terrible. Who has no offense. And he still put up numbers better than almost all of our WRs.
3. Owens is motivated to play against Dallas and Philly twice a year and stick it to them.
4. He is by far the cheapest option available to us without losing draft picks and possibly a low salary.

I know he has a storied past and he has not been the greatest locker room presence, but he wants to play, he still can play, and as a football move I think he would be the best option because of what he could bring at a substantially lower price than anyone else we could get. Shanny can handle his ego and personality. I know a lot of people don't like him, I know I never really have. But you have to look at it pragmatically, for what's best for the Skins, and I think this is it.

I think Galloway is here as more of a mentor type. You can't argue he's a much better locker room guy than TO, plus he's much cheaper.

I know he's in kind of a mentor role. I was just trying to make it as a point to people who say he shouldn't be here. It's a roll of the dice in the end, but one I think is well worth the risk.

Well we would have to get an offer in soon, the Bengals reportedly have a deadline to accept the offer by tommorow and the Jets have contacted Rosenhaus to possibly sign him as well. The TO ship is about to sail and we aren't in the plans.

The more you analyze TO to the Skins the more it becomes a REACH. I just don't see how putting him and DM together again when you are trying to rebuild the culture here in DC is a positive thing. It would be a real gamble by MS and BA to have a situation that can become volitale at any time.

I just don't think Owens is needed in Washington, with Galloway and Moss and Kelly and Thomas.

Now if Galloway was not there, maybe. But you just don't need Owens.

re: Stop the Madness, T.O. should be a skin (but he's not, he's a Bengal)

The biggest issue on TO is his attitude, as if people don't mature get older and change. I think this offseason is his last as a free agent. Where ever he goes will be the team he retires with. If his agent and he are smart they will wait until after training camp where there will be an injury or lackluster play somewhere.

Suck a dick ! You're WR core is straight. Ours isn't. You have a Big WR that can be a threat, we don't. Besides that's 4 dudes we could always use a 5th. But for all the bitching that the Skins fans here do about Kelly why wouldn't we bring in TO ? But I guess Kelly is cool now because it's him or TO. I'm sorry for the suck a dick comment but I hope you understood that was in jest. But seriously, suck a dick, don't tell me what we don't need when you know for yourself that it will be an improvement. Like I said, Witten ran free and you know it. Now you have Austin so you don't need a TO type anymore, but as of right now, we don't have one of those.

He's 37 years old. He will NOT produce, or come near, the numbers he produced in Philly or Dallas. Not even close. Be realistic in this process man, just think about it. Do you really expect him to do any better than he did in Buffalo? Wherever he lands, I dont expect him to get any more than 2 to 3 catches per game, maybe 600 yards for the whole season and 3 or 4 TD's. Don't get wrapped up in a name here.

Where does he fall on your depth chart? You gonna put Galloway at 3 on the depth chart? That leaves Kelly and Thomas scraping for playing time and dedicated primarily to Special teams. Thus delaying any further development. I'm not convinced that thier development may have been hindered by the previuos coaching regime. I still do not think we know what they have there is all.

Washington does not need Owens.

You sound like my friend who gives the exact same argument. We don't know what they have mainly because of the QB that we had IMO. Now bringing in TO could hinder whatever development process they are in right now, all I'm saying is that I'd rather have a weapon than not have one. Just because he's not going to go out and get me 15 TD's in a season doesn't mean that his impact would not be benificial. He would still garner attention from either the 1st or second corner or do you think that any ol team would just throw a nickel on him and be cool with that ? In doing that you give other receivers a chance to either have a lesser skilled corner, safety, linebacker covering them which should raise that chance of a good play or two. I'm just saying. Much like Albert, people look at his sack total but you have to know that he is taking on double teams each play opening up things for other players. I'm looking at what hispresence alon brings to the offense. You guys are talking about what his stats will end up being, to hell with his stats I'm thinking about what he'l do for everyone else.

I see so many Skins fans talking about puttin Moss in the slot, that gives you the opportunity to do that. But hey,we have Joey Galloway, right ? Don't let me forget about those two studs named Boby Wade and Roydell Williams.

T.O. picks the Bengals

Well, it's happened. Receiver Terrell Owens has agreed to terms with the Bengals.

Per a league source, Owens will receive a base salary of $2 million. He can earn up to another $2 million in incentives.

The source says that the incentives are based on receptions, yards, and touchdowns.

Well I would say the Offensive Line contributed greatly to the demise of the pass game, even with Campbell under center.

DB's had Owens number lately. He is starting to show his age. He now has more of a problem shedding the press coverage of DB's. They get in tight and harass him physically and he cant get off the coverage.

In his prime, he was good at beating that, but in these past few years he has shown a handicap at shedding those presses.

But it is all academic now as he has signed in Cincy. Time for the young guns to show up I guess.

And just between you and me, with Moss's breakaway speed, I would not put him in the slot too much.

This is a HORRIBLE idea. The guy already has a tendency to bug QB's and OC's about not getting the ball. Now you attach money to that problem and you're fixing for trouble. If anything the incentives should be attached to him being a good citizen and the teams record.

Well glad we can stop this debate now. It is a mute point wether or not TO would have helped this squad. If the FO determines we need a WR that bad the best option in VJ. That's it.

I personally believe we should be cool with what we have like Matty and if we need to draft a WR next year then so be it.

Yeah, then we can give up a couple high draft pix and then sign him to the contract that Sam Bradford is about to get. I'd love to have VJ, but not for what we'd have to give up. We couldve gotten TO for dirt cheap and he wouldnt had cost us any draft pix.
