I read that this morning after fighting the paper from my 3 yr old. Its pretty bad when you open up to the sport section and your 3 yrd old see's a redskin uniform and grabs the paper from you and starts yelling go skins. I just wish I had a video of that.
Yeah, the other day my 8 year old son told me he didn't want to go to Lone Star (steak place) because "it's like Texas and thats where the Cowboys are from, and we hate the Cowboys" |
Just search for deadskins, foreskins, cowpokes, or cowgirls on twitter. Among the fans the rivalry is very much alive.
I'm talking about talk between the players. I guess cause of free agency it's just not the same anymore. |

Just in case anyone is wondering, I am not going to feel sorry for any cowboys, eagles, or giants fan who complains about their failing OL's this year. |
Re: It's F'ing Dallas week
And on our side, Portis clips sound like he gets it. We could see huge things from him this year. (before the naysayers hop on, look at the times he took the handoffs in preseason, he was hitting holes, and hitting them hard. He may not break long ones, but he will be consistent and I bet over 1500yds.)

Re: It's F'ing Dallas week
Looks like Dallas is down 2 starting OL for Sunday night. I like it. As much of an A** as he is, I'd like to see a motivated Haynesworth Sunday and I think we will.

Yea, she loves her skins and skins shirt. Evertime she spots something skins related she makes me walk over so she can point to it and say go skins. She will actually watch part of a game and cheer but she cheers evertime the fans cheer rather its for the skins or the other team but we can work on that. |
Re: It's F'ing Dallas week
That is great, I am a few days away from my first and a little girl at that. She has a custom onsie and I hope that she is a big Skins fan. We will see. She has alot of Cowboys fans for relatives on her moms side, but I think she will follow her daddy! At least I hope so!! :)

Re: It's F'ing Dallas week
C- I expect Portis to resurrect his career after his abismal season last year.
I would take him as a top sleeper if I were playing fantasy this year. He is going for over a 100 on Sunday with a TD. |

Re: It's F'ing Dallas week
I would mark CP down for 1000-1100 yards. I think LJ will get his fair share of work too.
|
Re: It's F'ing Dallas week
I gotta say, I hate dallas fans. and this year there are a ton of them that are absolutely beside themselves with confidence. I hope that Ace's prediction comes true and that their OL is like a sieve. They seem to forget that our Defense has been pretty good year in year out.
Seriously, I don't want any head stomping but I wouldn't mind seeing AH just steamroll through Gurode multiple times this game. |
Re: It's F'ing Dallas week
I kind of wish someone would start talking smack. This rival is no where near what it use to be. The freakin owners hang out with one another. That's not a bad thing but jeez that would've never happened in the old days.
Jon Jansen summed up the "rivalry" back in the 2001 season after getting swept by the Cowboys following a loss at Fed Ex Field. When asked in the post game show how bad it hurt to lose to the Cowboys for the second time that season, -- I'll never forget these words, -- Jansen replied: 'It's just another game.' The rivalry only exists amongst the fans. |
Re: It's F'ing Dallas week
There's still a rivalry, might not be what it used to be but blame free agency for that. Plus it's a division game so there's naturally more on the line.
|
Re: It's F'ing Dallas week
I dont agree that the rivalry only exists with the fans. I believe the players get pumped for the other team, on both sides. But probably for the fact that they will be on a Nationally televised game usually. It sure isn't the same, but I would hope the players know their NFL history and have at least a little disdain for the team that is universally known as as their greatest rival.........
|
Re: It's F'ing Dallas week
While I do not bemoan the loss of Fred Smoot's declining skills, in losing him we lost one player for whom it is a true rivalry.
|
Re: It's F'ing Dallas week
I mean, what greater rivalry, IN AMERICA for that matter, is greater than Cowboys and Indians???? Its frikkin Americana for christs sake!!!!!

Most of the current players for both teams weren't even alive when the rivalry was at it height. |

I'd like to see Keiland Williams stuff it down the Cowboys' throats near the goal line... big plans for him this year (plus I took him with the last pick in one of my fantasy leagues).

Re: It's F'ing Dallas week
Hey, just wanted to say good to be back, sorry I disappear after the super bowl- I'm gonna make a real effort not to do that this year. And omg omg Dallas in week 1! For those of you who don't remember me i'm the 20 something who is somehow new to football 0.o. But none the less, Dallas in week one is like woah. I almsot got to go to this game with a group but my car needed repairs last minute before they were buying in -_-.
I call...hmm... i think a low scoring game. 16-8 Skins. I know the big issue with Dallas is all there staff changes but umm...isn't there a major one for us to we aren't talking about here? i seem to recall a Zorn guy on the sidelines before... |

Re: It's F'ing Dallas week
Bill Simmons view on the Cowboys is great and correct:
"The Cowboys remind me of the Kardashians in that their strongest talent is a relentless ability to remain relevant. Much like the Kardashians successfully created the illusion that they should be famous, the Cowboys successfully created the illusion that they should be a Super Bowl contender. And they didn't even have to leak a sex tape to do it. You know what Dallas' record has been since 2000? 82-78. You know how many playoff games it has won over that stretch? One. That's right … one more playoff win than Buffalo and Detroit. As with the Kardashians, it's all about the packaging. We consider Tony Romo an elite QB because he dates celebrities and puts up big fantasy numbers; so what if he freezes in big games? We consider Jerry Jones an elite owner because he splurged on a magnificent stadium and matched wits with Ari Gold; so what if he never built a Super Bowl team without Jimmy Johnson? Dez Bryant has been reinvented as the steal of the 2010 draft based on a bunch of preseason practices that nobody saw; so what if half the league passed on him because teams thought he was a head case? Most fans consider the Dallas offense as "elite" because it has a few high fantasy picks; so what if they don't have a single elite offensive lineman? Every Cowboys Super Bowl pick includes the caveat, "They're returning 20 of 22 starters from last year"; so what if it means they're returning 20 of the 22 starters the Vikings trounced in January by 31 points? Even the Kardashians thing makes more sense to me. They learned all their tricks from Paris Hilton; there are three of them; they have a catchy name; they don't say anything controversial or incriminating; they only date celebrities, athletes and reality-TV-ready degenerates; and Kim (their fearless leader) is the perfect goddess for her time: a multi-new-media icon (Internet, reality TV and Us Weekly) with a definite hook (her butt), a tawdry past (her sex tape) that wasn't really all that tawdry (the camerawork was bad, and you could barely see anything) and no discernible talent whatsoever (which doesn't matter, because you don't need talent to be famous in 2010). That smoke-and-mirrors routine should work in pop culture. In football? No. And yet, somehow, the Dallas Cowboys have the fourth-best odds to win this year's Super Bowl (8-1). I give up." |
