Davis always wins. But Cable is right. Gradkowski does not look like a pro QB but he makes things happen out there. He reminds me of Jeff Garcia a little bit.
I get the same impression from Gradkowski. But over more than a couple of games, he won't be as consistently productive as Garcia. He's just too careless with the ball and not accurate enough to overcome that flaw.

re: The never ending Jason Campbell player haters ball
speaking of Garcia, i have no idea why he had to settle for the UFL this season. I know he's 40, but time and time again all the man does is win, and lead his team. He's a good locker room guy, excellent mentor, and always a fan favorite....

It takes that special something that can't be quantified to make your potential retirement such a spectacle that an entire organization would believe that you'll play for them forever. Garcia just doesn't have that intangible.

I agree that Grad can be too careless with the ball but it seems to me his carelessness comes from trying to make plays. Campbell isnt at all careless with the ball but it seems as if he's too afraid to take a chance and make a play. Gimme Grad over Campbell every time. |
re: The never ending Jason Campbell player haters ball
Something tells me the Raiders will be QB shopping again next year. Clearly neither guy is the long term answer there.

Hmmm, I wonder if we're going to have this problem. I mean McNabb sucks. Maybe if he was white I would give him the benefit of the doubt but only 400 passing yards. Wow, I throw for more then that on Madden.

First, Turd doesn't know what "confounding variable" is. Second, turd doesn't realize that "inequality of outcome" DOES NOT MEAN "unequal judgement". If you're going to judge based on performance, and the QB's performance is sooooo goddamn awful that a change is required, IT DOESN'T MATTER if the dude white, black, etc. Third, Mr. Abraham bunches up a bunch of white individuals into a "white establishment". Here, he shows a lack discretion when judging people. Finally, stats are a shitty measure of capturing the moment. |

Zennie62 should read that Cable article then he might put his deck of race cards away. Use it when it makes sense, not now. This is what football is about. If you're good then you're good, if you suck you suck.
Q: Is it a setback at all in that you have Jason as the No. 1 guy since April, and then a game and a half into the season you switch gears? Or does the fact that Bruce was around last year make it easier to switch? Cable: I think before you go into all that or read into all that, it’s about winning on Sundays. A decision was made yesterday to do that. Some of the benefits to it are the fact that Bruce has been around, yes, but if you remember, he’s had less work in the new system than Jason. That's why he was benched, not because he was black. It's about winning, which he doesn't put them in the position to do. |

Q: Should Campbell have recognized the Raiders were in the wrong formation on fourth-and-1 and called a time out?
Cable: Yeah, absolutely. In the heat of the battle, whatever it is, we didn’t get it done. I tried to fix it, but (the officials) weren’t paying attention to us. This is what I was talking about when I bashed him. Gotta be better than that. |

re: The never ending Jason Campbell player haters ball
I seriously would rather have J.Russell over Campbell...
I think Campbell sucks that bad! As bad a Russell was...and he's REAL bad...he did win games last season. I'm not sure Campbell could win a game for Oakland... He was losing against the Rams before being pulled and Gradowski brought the team back...lol I'm a firm believer, the Redskins won..."in spite" of Campbell last season. I think we had enough talent to do so...specially on the defensive side. |
re: The never ending Jason Campbell player haters ball
First it was someone wanting Shuler over JC, now Russell?
C'mon people, this is just getting dumb  |
re: The never ending Jason Campbell player haters ball
Maybe the facts are in, and Campbell is indeed that much of a bust.
But still, I don't think that J. Russell is better than Campbell. I consider them about equal, when it comes to the raiders. |

re: The never ending Jason Campbell player haters ball
Give Bruce Gradkowski some credit. When we replaced Campbell down two points at half at home against a vastly inferior team last year (Chiefs), Todd Collins came in and actually assisted the Chiefs in winning the game. Gradkowski at least took care of his business and got Campbell the "W", and made Tom Cable's decision look rational and not at all desperate.
The Raiders have a better QB situation this year than we did last year. |
re: The never ending Jason Campbell player haters ball
Russell and Campbell aren't even in the same ballpark. Sorry, not even close.
You're talking about one of the biggest busts in NFL history, right behind Ryan Leaf, and comparing him to a middle of the road guy in JC. It just doesn't add up no matter how you look at it. |
re: The never ending Jason Campbell player haters ball
The excuses for Campbell are truly overwhelming...
It's O-line.. It's the Running game It's the WR's It's the formations It's the coach It's the front office It's the defense It's the fans it's the stadium It's the way he was brought up Did anyone ever stop to think that maybe..... JUST maybe... Campbell is horrible? Seriously...Did Heath Shuler or Patrick Ramsey get the opportunites that this non-leading loser get? At least Ramsey has the actual excuse of playing behind a non-blocking Fun and Gun offense with absolutely no protection, but the fans decided he sucked and Ramsey never proved anyone wrong... But noooooooooooo...NOT JC... The only person I've ever seen get excused, for every screwup they ever made,is our very own president... Only difference is...One set a franchise back for 5 years The other has ruined a Country BTW...I love having McNabb!!:food-smil He's a great player and person... (This was said just in case an Obamabot Liberal threw out the racist or bigot card at me) lol You know how they can be...lol |

ace - plenty of us questioned JC during his time here, repeatedly for about 2 straight years. for every "apologist" there was a "doubter".
its just that now, at least for me, whats the point of repeating what we've been arguing about for so long? JC is a raider, mcnabb is our guy. |

Buddy Ryan was known to have racist tendencies. Just ask David Duerson. However, i think that was a reflection of that time in the NFL, and not so much Buddy Ryan the person. |

Yeah and I also noticed how you pasted the article right after you said what you said. But let's get to your point. It wasn't an illegal formation just the wrong formation. QB's that know their playbook can make adjustments at the line. OR if you know what formation you are supposed to be in, you can call a timeout. Sort of like if you see that a blitz is coming you can change the protection, which is something else that he doesn't like to do. You're right that many QB's make the mistakes that Jason makes, but the good ones have more positives. And until he finds a way to have more of those, then he'll ride the pine. |
