1. Fire Hastlett hire Wade Phillips or Mike Zimmerman 2 real good 3-4 defensive coordinators

There are a bunch of Big Ten Wrs coming out that can be productive for us such as Stonum from Michigan or Sanzenbacher from OSU( not sure if he is a SR). Stay away from MSU guys, as they come from from the Detroit PSL leagues or MI schools in general, which have sucked talentwise since the mid the 80's. IF any Wrs from Oregon or Stanford are coming out I would give them a look. They can be had during the 2nd-4th rounds. As for the 3-4, you are better off scraping it, as you have 4-3 personnel anyway. Maybe we can salvage AH that way. We also will not have to worry about having as many LBs on the roster. |
Re: LOL @ Redskins
any coaching change is crazy......our 2011 draft 1st and 2nd picks need to be RT and C respectively. We need to bring in 1 FA WR....(vincent jackson?). We should keep Moss for the slot and you have AA and VJ on the outside.
No more trading draft picks...for anyone!!!!!!!! Honestly, EVERYONE on this site should agree that drafting OL is the only solution going forward. Dont believe me??? Look at the giants and eagles.....their drafts are not steller in terms of excitement....BUT get the job done in the trenches. |

I don't think TO's or Moss' teams lost the SB because they were locker room cancers. Honestly, AH being a so called "cancer" is the least of our team's concern right now. |
Re: LOL @ Redskins
The only way the Redskins will be successful is to clean house of the type of players with their own agendas (Haynesworth, Landry, Hall) old players (Fletcher, Portis, Carter, Phillips, Sellers, Holliday, Galloway, Rabach) and rebuild with the core of high character, smart players (Orakpo, Alexander, Cooley,Williams, McNabb).
I look at the Redskins like the SF Giants baseball team, they got rid of Barry Bonds (own agenda, cancer to the team) and drafted young solid pitchers (Lincecum, Cain, Baumgarner) surrounded them with a hard working mix of young and veteran players that were not flashy, but smart. The final result is that they grew and played as team and won the world series. The same needs to happen here, bite the bullet and clean house. |
Re: LOL @ Redskins
I can't agree with getting rid of Landry.

Re: LOL @ Redskins
I can't agree with getting rid of Landry.
I would only keep him if he changes his attitude, he picks fights, showing off (flexing bullshit), he needs to get rid of all the "stupid look at me" attitude and play the game. |
Re: LOL @ Redskins
I really don't care about the flexing or other BS, that stuff is just part of his game take it or leave it, he's been one of our few bright spots and should be in the Pro Bowl. Getting rid of him would just create another big hole to fill. It's not gonna happen.

Re: LOL @ Redskins
I can't agree with getting rid of Landry.
He is one of our best players on defense, but considering we are currently 31st in pass defense, ditching him for some picks wouldn't be that crazy. Hall is by far the only keeper in the defensive backfield. We have so many holes to fill, and fill with quality players it isn't funny. That is why I say in hindsight getting Donovan might have been a waste of a move. The guy is better than JC for sure, but could you give the guy something to work with? Banks, AA, and K Williams are the only potential bright spots for 2011. I like Torain, but he obviously isn't very durable, so another young RB is in the works in the next few drafts or unsigned FAs post draft. Portis needs to be put out to stud, and we need to find a replacement for Moss. His best days are behind him. He has something left in the tank, but he is on the downward slope of his career. |

I want to see Davis play, he could be a diamond in the rough. |

Landry is only 26 and a playmaker. Maybe when he's 30 or 31, then we can consider ditching him, but not now.

I've grown as a fan to the point where I don't speculate on what moves need to be made, unless it's a completely obvious one like getting rid of Joey Galloway, so I'm not going to speculate on who should stay and who should go.
I just want to have faith that our coaching staff/front office are making the right moves, and I want to see progress on the field. Lets just hope that next offseason we find the right mix of smart moves that will make us better on the field. |

I mean we were in need of at least a number #2 wide receiver... "So guys.. We need a #2 WR... Any ideas?" "... Joey Galloway is available.. He's old as dirt, but produced really well from 2002-2007..." *Everyone unanimously agrees* .. I mean really? Of all the WR's they could've chosen from, they decided on 39 year old (his birthday is in a few days.. wiki!) Joey Galloway? I mean hell, they might as well have asked Brad Johnson to come back and QB for a few seasons. Someone in the FO is really screwing it up. I guess it's russian roulette as to who it is. Sigh. Guess I'll never understand this team. |

The Eagles would have beaten any team in the NFL by at least 10 points last night IMO. Vick was that good, it was QB perfection. In fact if someone can find a video of a bad play he made last night I'd love to see it cuz I don't remember a single one. That being said...
Sorry to :bdh: but I can't help but question the 3-4 again. I think 90% here agree the current roster is much better suited for the 4-3. I just picture a DL of Carter, Orakpo, LoAx, and a MOTIVATED AH. Plus the first three guys are athletic enough that we could use a lot of "exotic looks" with the DLs dropping back into coverage etc. Another problem I see with the 3-4 is its complexity. I'm no X O expert but what I like about the 3-4 is all the different looks you can show at the line. It can make things very confusing for the opposing offense. The flip side is that it can also be confusing for the defense. Guys are switching positions and assignments from play to play and you really need some cerebral guys out there who know what the hell is going on, otherwise a good offense will make you run around like chickens. Unfortunately Fletcher is the only guy with a brain on this D (maybe Rak and Los too), and Hall and Landry ain't winning a Nobel Prize in physics anytime soon. Maybe it just takes time/players like others keep saying (I sure hope so). But couldn't we have started with a 4-3 and transitioned to a 3-4 as the right players were added? Plus where are we getting all these players from? We need 4 OLs at least! Whatever... rant over. |

You have to have the players, and we dont, bottom line. We only have a 1st, no 2nd, can't remember if we have 3rd, or 4th. We need to draft offensive lineman. Stop going after the flashy picks. The WR dont amount to shit if the QB is running for his life every play. Rabach is as good as the two guards beside him. Which neither one of them is worth a damn. So it isn't all on Rabach. the whole unit sucks. We have zero identity upfront. I am wondering if these coaches can find a way to maximize the guys up front and call to their strenghts, because what ever they are doing isn't working for crap. Quicker 3 step drops, more slants, some more screens. Something to get the ball out of McNabbs hands quicker. |

Plus the J. Brown trade was conditional as well I believe, think a 4th or 5th but not sure. Anyways, w/our 1st & 2nd we may be able to trade back & get some more picks later in the 2nd, I expect Allen to look to make some deals on draft day. He did a good job of getting more late round picks in the last draft, let's see if he can get more 1st day picks next year. |

I doubt or at least hopes he's not here next year. We can talk talent all day long, brother, but the Skins have given up over 30 points or more four times this season! We've gone from a top ten (maybe top fifteen) defense to dead last in a year?! I know that Shanahan is a good coach, but I am not a fan at all and am less than impressed with Kyle. It's completely absurd the Roydell Williams and Joey Galloway are still on this NFL roster 8 games into the season. Why not just bring up Austin to see what he's got? I mean really, is he going to do worse than zero catches? It's beyond me how you have a very capable, if not great, Derrick Dockery inactive every week while KL plays turn style with defensive tackles every game. Sure this team has missing pieces, but what team doesn't? |

I get the feeling Shanahan favors work ethic over talent. |

And I dont believe we have the LB's to play it either. Beside Orakpo and Fletcher, the other two are playing out of position. When you dont have the personel the D is going to struggle, that is fact. this team was built with the personel to run a 4-3. The coaches should have recognized that and played the 4-3 until we had the people to switch. Hastlett has done a pretty decent job in the NFL of coaching defenses. I agree about the WR. They are crap. Galloway is horrible. He does nothing for the offense. You can't tell me that Thomas was worse than Galloway. I bet they are kicking themselves for putting Kelly on IR, when he could be helping right now. We had opportunity to address the issue at WR and we didn't. Dockery, have no clue why he isn't playing. Shanny drafted the guy playing LG, so i guess that has something to do with it. but have a hard time believing Dockery is as bad or worse than this dude. |

With all the change we've had under Snyder, I really can't believe some are advocating for even more change. Can we just get something in place and let it ride for a few years? The constant change is what our main problem has been. Change at QB, change with the coaches, front office, etc.

Weren't people demanding we "blow it up" about 2 years ago when everyone was calling for Gibbs head because after 2 years we didn't make the playoffs? Then we brought in Zorn and practically a whole new coaching staff.. Then this year we cleaned FO house and got rid of Zorn, Vinny and brought in ANOTHER FO/coaching staff? A QB, some RBs (although the 2 well known names didn't make the team), 1 good o-line men and a couple of dummies, some d-line fodder and a CB or 2..? Yeah... I don't think the blow it up approach is working too well. Those people suggesting that have had the Snyder-ray goggles on for far too long. |
