Does anyone know much about NT Marvin Austin other than his suspension last year. I heard NFLN talking about him possibly being a sleeper pick in the 2nd round & he might be better than Taylor from Baylor.
i think he's a 3 technique, not a nose. Also there are rumblings of him moving into the end of the first. I would love to take him with our second though. Move him to DE. |

I didn't make them, just passing them along:

Re: 2011 NFL Mock Draft thread.
We're not taking Locker at #10
The way I hear/see it-Gabbert and Newton are the first two QBs in the draft, both in the top 10 (neither to us). Ponder is moving up, possibly mid first (as much as I'd like him I find that stunning, but whatever), Mallet is a wild card. A lot of people think he'll be the 3rd overall QB taken simply because of his talent. The character issues most are putting aside, or so it seems right now. That leaves Kaepernick, Dalton, and Locker as the next tier-possibly in that order. At least one of them will be available when we pick in the 2nd round. And depending on what the Vikings and Niners do in the 1st round (and possibly free agency) re: their QB situation we could conceivably trade down as low as 50th overall with the Chargers and get our QB there and pick up a 3rd round pick
{quote} One GM says "I'm glad I don't need a QB this year" {un\} It wouldn't be much fun if they didn't have someone to pump. Re: 2011 NFL Mock Draft thread.
Well this is interesting. I thought the Panthers would take Gabbert, though others think Newton which is very possible too, and have both Gabbert/Newton and Clausen as their QBs of the future, which is smart in my opinion.
Apparently though, we've had serious discussions with the Panthers talking about sending Haynesworth, our 2nd, and Fred Davis for Jimmy Clausen! Obviously nothing can happen right now without a CBA but I have really mixed feelings on this. Clausen's fine, but I need to get some draft pick back in return. Even if it's their 3rd round pick. Interesting to note Snyder really wanted Clausen last year. Gotta wonder if he's not influencing this somehow. He's been pretty upset with Shanahan with how the whole McNabb situation was handled. He might be thinking "I let you get your guy last year, this year we're doing it my way" |

Re: 2011 NFL Mock Draft thread.
Even the guys at WalterFootball.com admit they made a big mistake about Clausen. Last year they couldn't say enough good things about him and now....
3. Gabbert seems to have good leadership qualities. Like Newton, he appears to have "it" - something that Jimmy Clausen lacks. I made a huge mistake when I underestimated how important it is not to be a loser in college. And I'm not just referring to wins and losses. Clausen is not a leader; conversely, he seems to have this Matt Leinart-esque sense of entitlement. There's just something missing with him. I don't like this (Possible) deal at all. |

Re: 2011 NFL Mock Draft thread.
I think ss is probably just messing with us. However I don't think it's that bad of a deal. haynesworth has the trade value of a ham sandwich. Like it or not, Fred Davis doesn't have much trade value either. And as long as Cooley is on the roster he's not that valuable to us. We don't have a legitimate starting qb and I don't like a single qb in the draft. There certainly aren't any id use our 1st or 2nd rounders on. I look at the trade as the best young qb available to us - a potential franchise qb -for a 2nd round pick and two players of little value to us.
If we could get them to send a 4th to us and get another 3rd or 4th for mcnabb, I'd be stoked about our draft. |

Not at all. Clausen >>> any qb in the 2011 draft.
Haynesworth < 6th round pick Davis < 4th round pick. |

Re: 2011 NFL Mock Draft thread.
I'd take Locker but Dalton is my 2nd choice
|
Re: 2011 NFL Mock Draft thread.
Yeah totally made it up. Why should SolidSnake get all the fun today? Was going to say trade for Cam, but I didn't want it to be too believable.
Totally serious about Young though. They are verrrry interested |

Id guess both and let them battle it out

Whats your take on this? Do u want young in DC? |
Re: 2011 NFL Mock Draft thread.
I mean I guess I'm willing to give him a shot, provided we aren't giving up anything for him and I'd still line us to draft a QB
|
Re: 2011 NFL Mock Draft thread.
I think Shanny can use VY as a Jake Plummer here, Id bring him in for cheap I mean why not? He's better than Rex right?

Re: 2011 NFL Mock Draft thread.
I'd take Locker but Dalton is my 2nd choice
The NFL Draft Overview on Dalton: Dalton is four-year starter and proven winner, but he will have a difficult transition to the NFL. He is undersized and will not be able to take off and run at the next level. He is generally an accurate passer, however he will make some poor throws when his mechanics break down. Also, he plays in a very user friendly scheme where he throws to a lot of wide open receivers and it is unclear if he can fit the ball into tight windows. Dalton will need some time to learn a more complicated offense and he looks to be a mid-round pick. Cmpare to the overall general consensus of the other QB's expecting to be considered in this years draft. He has prototypical quarterback size at 6'6" and can take off and run at the next level. He is generally an accurate passer, however his windup is a bit long but he still gets the ball out extremely quick and has a howitzer for an arm. Kaepernick has undergone tests to prove he has tiger blood and all he knows is winning. He was recently quoted as saying. "You can't process me with a normal brain. Most of the time-and this includes naps-I'm an F-18, bro, and I will destroy you in the air and deploy my ordnance to the ground. Boom! WINNING!!!" Kaepernick will fit into any system already conceived in the NFL and is projected to break every quarterback record that exists as a first year starter. Any team who does not do anything short of prison shanking another team to force a trade to the #1 overall pick to draft Kaepernick are losers. Compare to the overall general consensus of the other QB's expecting to be considered in this years draft. Re: 2011 NFL Mock Draft thread.
Ponder is very consistent everywhere. i think thats why he will be the best. and on another note if prince amukamara is at ten do we take him? i think so
|
Re: 2011 NFL Mock Draft thread.
^ I'd take prince at 10 or Julio only if We can't trade down
|
Re: 2011 NFL Mock Draft thread.
yea idk about julio though idk. we have had bad luck with recievers. he will probably good
|
Re: 2011 NFL Mock Draft thread.
I'm skeptical on WRs also trust me, but if he's there at 10 and we cant trade down I wouldn't mind having him
