Re: Official 2011 College Football Thread
It's no secret that I'm an SEC guy, and I definitely think Bama and LSU are the two best teams in the country.
That said, I don't think it's right that a team that didn't even play in their conference championship let alone win their division get to play for a national title. I'd prefer to see LSU wax Ok. State than play another grind it out game vs. Bama. |
Yeah those are the bigger games i care about. The BCS just seems to get worse every year.
Im not a huge college football fan but VT is my faviort team. But its still rediculous they were ranked as high as they were and that they got a BCS bowl. The BCS rakings have become The BCS tv ratings.
Yeah it's all about the money. No way VaTech should get a BCS bowl after getting blown out twice by the same team. Boise St is more deserving IMO. |

It was definitely the best catch ive ever seen live, and maybe the best catch ive ever seen. Just sick.
Does anyone remember this catch by Hakeem Nicks: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v2ikDsi-DJA]Hakeem Nicks Greatest Catch of the Year? - YouTube[/ame] That bowl game was the first time i saw Hakeen Nicks in action. Ive been worried about him since th Giants drafted him. |

Great catches above . Wisconson / Oregon game is awesome ( 28-28 ) at the half .
|
Re: Official 2011 College Football Thread
Great games today. The Georgia/Mich St game went 4OTs, and this Rose Bowl is a shootout. And my Gators won so I'm good... :)
|
Re: Official 2011 College Football Thread
Too bad the Rose Bowl ended without one more play :( . Great games , hope the NFL playoff's start like this next weekend !
|
Re: Official 2011 College Football Thread
Justin Blackmon was in bed all last week on heavy antibiotics and barely practiced because of an infection in his thigh.... And he as 110 yards and 2TDs in the first half. What a beast.
|
Re: Official 2011 College Football Thread
J.Blackmon has just made himself a few more $$$$ , very impressive .
|
Re: Official 2011 College Football Thread
blackmon looks like the next big thing. luck looks like an nfl QB too... very accurate, does what he needs to do.
|
Re: Official 2011 College Football Thread
The 2 main games today, Oregon vs Wisconsin & stanford vs ok st definitely lived up to the hype and expectations. And I know qb is our main need but I'll be damned if Justin Blackmon in a skins uniform wouldn't be absolutely badass!!
|
Re: Official 2011 College Football Thread
Gotta tellya, if Justin Blackmon is there at #6, Skins gotta take him. They just gotta. The kid was phenomenal tonight.
|
Re: Official 2011 College Football Thread
holy shit what a game! wvu played one of the best college football games i have ever seen last night, at the end of the first half there was over 700 yards of offense and a total of 69 points. i knew wvu could hang with clemson but i did not know they would would make them regret showing up. if this is what dana holgerson has in store for wvu i can't wait. this has been one of the best bowl seasons in recent memory, i hope the last few games are the same

Yeah all but VT played pretty terrible, but as far as VT goes I still think they got jobbed out of that overtime TD. |
Anybody watching LSU-Bama? LSU played like a D3 team in this one. What is worse? Playing the way they did in the big game or playing terrible football all season? I'd imagine everyone who plays for or roots for LSU thinks the whole season has been a waste now.

This game was the greatest BCS championship game of all time. Why you ask? Because it was a wreck. We now have a team that didn't win it's conference likely sharing a National Title after the head of the "Tax Exempt" BCS talked about perserving the integrity of the regular season. Can you guys imagine a Plus 1 playoff with Oklahoma State, Stanford, Bama, and LSU? It's sad to think about what could have been. |
Re: Official 2011 College Football Thread
What I don't have to imagine is a legendary performance by a defense against a team that had all season beaten teams like a drum.
What we learned....give Nick Saban 44 days and he is going to whip your ass. No matter who you are. They might have beaten the Colts tonight. |

Yeah, if there was ever a game that showed college football's most elite can't **** with a pro football team (on any level) it was tonight.

As a LSU fan that went to Florida, I am so glad no more Jordan Jefferson and someone actually suggested we draft him.

tough loss quake. JJ sux, thats nothing new though. 2nd go round and again a horrible game to watch. college football needs to wake up

i don't know why miles kept throwing him out there, i know lee isn't a world beater but jefferson wasn't doing anything last night. his best play was the same play as his worst, he threw a terrible shovel pass that was intercepted, but made a great tackle and actually dislocated the lb's knee when he spun him to the ground. it was pretty nasty. as much as i dislike saban i have to give him credit, he was the better coach last night, and probably one of the best college football coaches out there right now, depending on how his career plays out maybe ever. and for anyone who doubts the sec and their dominance over college football i think 6 straight national titles speaks for itself, in the last decade they have won 7 of 10. |

maybe i am in the minority but i think it was a pretty good game last night, just because the ball doesn't get aired out and there arn't 30 points scored by both teams doesn't mean it was a bad game. watching the plays both defenses were making and with the speed they have was a lot of fun. and even though the score was 21 to 0 at the end lsu was in the game until about 5 mins left in the 4th. i love high scoring games as much as the next guy, but i have no problem with a close defensive game as long as both team are in it. |

I can't believe Les Miles kept sending him back on to the field. The kid was a walking 3 and out. He looked so lost. Should have at least put Jarrett Lee in there to see if he could spark something. You can't really score less than zero points. |

Less than 100 yards of total offense too. |

Since the BCS championship rotates between Alabama schools, look for Alabama-Birmingham to win it all next year.

I agree. This loss was squarely on Les Miles. That game was a pure example of being out coached, not so much out played. The play calling was horrible and the fact he left Jefferson in was mind boggling. It's the national championship, what do you have to lose by putting in Lee? Nothing.
