Re: Positions Which Need to Be Addressed
RG3 or Landry Jones 1st. We have too many needs to give up what it would take to get Luck. We are rebuilding. I think Griffin or Jones would be great, I like Jones because he's 6'4" 230 lbs. Love RG3's accuracy. Both are way smart on the field. Not a fan of Tannehill or Barkley.
After that, O-line all day. Package lower picks to trade up and get starters. Cordy Glenn, DeCastro, Osemele, Peter Konz, Mike Adams, Nix, Brewster, any of those guys would be great for us. And I hope Shanny goes against his beliefs and drafts BIG athletic guys, not small athletic guys. This ain't Mile High. Wouldn't mind grabbing an ILB, one of the Bama guys, or Teo or Burfect. RB, WR, and DB can wait. |

Ya, but say we get him. How would he function on two MORE years on a bad team???? Right now, the most important areas to address is our guards and our quarterback. We can function with what we have now at the other positions, and dont get me wrong, we have needs all across the board, but the offensive line and qb needs to be addressed, and it needs to be addressed this offseason, bottom line. No more veterans, no more "system" guys, no more friends. Get a young guy to develop, or we will continue to get ass-****ed. |

Re: Positions Which Need to Be Addressed
This is for those folks who would like to draft a QB AND at the same time have another guy here who can start for a year or so while the new guy "gets groomed" in the Shanahan system.
Here are three QBs who will be Free Agents come March 2012. [As best I can tell, none of them are Restricted Free Agents; I think all you have to do is to sign them...] 1. Drew Brees: Better than ANY QB on the Skins roster in at least 25 years. Good luck prying him loose from N.O. 2. Kyle Orton: Rex Grossman without the same number of INTs and fumbles. 3. Alex Smith: If the Niners win a playoff game with him under center, there is no way he will make it to free agency unencumbered. But if the Niners tank... |

It's not that I believe Colt McCoy is going to come in and solve anyone's long-standing problems (he apparently is helpless to solve the Browns problems), but I can't look at Bradford's numbers or at St. Louis Rams film and think that he's eventually going to overcome this and be great.
I think they're both solid starters in a good situation, and could backup in any system in the NFL. I don't believe a trade to Washington is suddenly going to revitalize a guy's career. They both have a ball security problem right now, and those are a mess to correct. It's possible, but I don't think we have the coaches on staff to correct either's issues. The truth is that they are more similar than they are different, and really, Bradford has his draft position going for him, but that's really it. |

I think the Skins should replace Beck with Ron Jeremy as QB and Nina Hartley as the C, there would be no missed snaps and lots of action. |
Re: Positions Which Need to Be Addressed
Positons of need as follow:
1. QB is our #1 need. I want us to draft our QB thats fits Shanny's system. I dont want some old vet or some other backup scrub to be our starter in 2012. Lets put the rookie in from day 1 and let him learn on the fly. 2.O-Line- We need a RT and LT for depth. Would like to draft a RT to start over Brown. He gets pushed back into the backfield to many times. Has trouble with speed rushers. 3.CB- Draft a CB that has size to match up with bigger wr in the divison. 4.LB- Groom a ILB to replace London in a few years. 5. WR-Big physical fast who can make plays in the red zone. |

Re: Positions Which Need to Be Addressed
colt's not the answer. orton would have been an upgrade for this year, but he'll never be great, so if we're drafting a QB the new guy might as well play.
still, we better get some bodies on the OL or it won't matter much. |

Dont get me wrong I think the front are good, but I think tend to think out of the starters, Rocky is the weak link. I really think if we had a better player at ILB or could clone another Fletcher, the defense would be much better. When I look at the D my first concern is run d...we've given up alot of big run plays. We need an aggressive ILB. Rocky is not a good fit for the 3-4 inside. My only other concern on the D is depth at CB and Safety. We need to cut/not bring back Philip Bucannon, The Reed, Kareem Moore(unless he suddenly "gets it" the last half of the season which is very unlikely) and Barnes. We need to find a CB who can press Wilson at starter or play the nickle. Id bring back the rook, Westbrook and add another young guy and a vet at Corner. At Safety, Id bring Gomes in as primary back up to Laron and bring in a solid veteran at Free Safety behind OJ. My concern is injury issues with the starters. I would extend LL to a good contract. |

Yeah Rocky is inconsistent and his pass coverage is not very good. I'm really hoping Riley steps up. They're not the BEST front seven but having some good corners and safeties would make them look a lot better. |

If our offense could score more points , or better yet get a lead this would improve our defense alone. |
Re: Positions Which Need to Be Addressed
My list of course starts with the QB as well.
Offensive line - RT,RG,C - Inside LB Corner (these two could be interchangeable, as I think Riley could play next year) Now, having said that, given where I believe we may be drafting, top 10, I am not sure that we HAVE to take a QB in the 1st round. I believe there will be some QB's in the second round that will be very good QB's in the NFL. So, once again do we trade down, pick up additional picks??? If we are in rebuild mode, and feel we can target an NFL QB in the 2nd round, then we have several options for next years draft and aquiring some talented young players. |
Re: Positions Which Need to Be Addressed
QB , OL , WR , NT and ILB . Having a true NT would make everyone else better ( more so if JJ comes back 100% ) . A good cover corner would do the same ( draft seems strong @ CB . Hopefully we get a 3rd rd comp pick for C. Rogers , and I hope we toast the bum today !!! Nice day for an upset ...............

These last three weeks the defense has given up long TD drives very early in the game. They can't put that on being tired or that the offense didn't score a TD its first drive. They have to be somewhat accountable for their poor starts each game |

While there are some needs on defense, I think they are completely irrelevant until the offense is fixed. In the end, whats the point of upgrading the defense if we still have a POS offense? |
Re: Positions Which Need to Be Addressed
The announcers said it best during the game. This offseason, the Redskins drafted mainly for defense. The defense is better than last year. This coming offseason, they must draft for offense. The must draft a quarterback or trade up to get one depending on where they finish. I've seen a few mock drafts where they have the Redskins drafting Matt Barkley of USC and Robert Griffin III of Baylor. Griffin III is definitely the better QB. They need a CB and possibly a veteran WR through free agency. And maybe one or two offensive lineman.

The reason why we picked D with our first two picks was not out of any sort of "plan" to pick D at all costs. The reason why was that there were a shitload of apparently good defensive prospects on the board. Also, in total, we took 7 offensive players and 6 defensive players in the draft. |
Re: Positions Which Need to Be Addressed
Which WR are we gonna sign in the offseason?:
2012 NFL Free Agent Receivers Reggie Wayne (IND) - The Colts are an organization that tends to take care of their own. Though they're in a precarious position after signing Manning long term and with Robert Mathis looking for his own deal, the Colts will have to make room. On the bright side, the new CBA couldn't have come at a better time for the Colts who would have been due to dole out a large sum for a potentially high draft pick. Wes Welker (NE) - Through 5 games, Welker is on pace to break the season record for receptions and shatter the record for receiving yards. It's safe to say heÕs Brady's favorite target on 3rd downs to move the chains and virtually impossible to cover out of the slot due to his quickness, intelligence, and hands. You have to think Brady will make a push to keep him around if the front office shockingly has other plans. Vincent Jackson (SD) - Partially due to his actions and injuries, the Chargers have been reluctant to sign Vincent Jackson to a long-term extension. If there's any animosity between the two parties, this could be the time where there's a split. Still, the best guess is that the team will pay Jackson like a number one receiver and keep him in San Diego. DeSean Jackson (PHI) - Jackson is the perfect weapon for the Eagles offense that relies upon big plays. Though the organization was unwilling to cave to his offseason demands, they'll have to think long and hard about doing everything in their power to retain Jackson. Though Maclin may be the better overall receiver, Jackson's vertical ability has a great impact on the way defenses approach the Eagles' offense. Though based on his comments and actions of several months ago, it appears that Jackson could be lured away from Philadelphia with a lucrative offer. Dwayne Bowe (KC) - One subpar season aside, Dwayne Bowe has emerged into the number one receiver the offense needs. He's a big body and a good route runner with a large catching radius. His most impressive attribute is his body of work around the goal line. He's a complete mismatch with the fade, slant, and back shoulder passes and has shown the propensity to make the acrobatic catches on numerous occasions. Marques Colston (NO) - When healthy, Colston is a match-up nightmare for any corner. He's an incredibly physical receiver and a sure-handed, polished route runner. When he's available, he brings another dimension to the Saints offense that none of their other talented weapons possess. Though Brees has proven capable of running the offense without him, they're even more dangerous with him. Steve Johnson (BUF) - Still working on his meager rookie salary, Johnson figures to be a big part of the Bills' long term plans. On a team with few superstars, the Bills can afford to lock up Johnson long term and maintain an effective passing attack. After he and fellow free agent Ryan Fitzpatrick are locked up, Bills fans can breathe easier about the bright future of their offense. Brandon Lloyd (STL) - Lloyd's next contract will largely depend upon his production over the remainder of the season. Though he hasn't been as explosive and consistent as a year ago when he broke out at age 29, he still appears to be a dangerous receiver with the league's largest catching radius. Robert Meachem (NO) - Meachem is one of the younger receivers that could be a nice pick-up for an offense with a larger workload to offer. He's a good downfield threat and has nice instincts in the red zone. Unlike Colston, Meachem is more of a luxury for the offense. Mario Manningham (NYG) - With Manningham and Cruz behind Hakeem Nicks, the Giants have found a nice threesome. They seemed disappointed in Steve Smith's decision to bolt for Philadelphia without the option to match the contact, so there's no question the front office will look to keep the remainder of their receiving corps intact. Mike Wallace (PIT) - Restricted - No receiver in the league forces safeties back like Wallace. His deep speed is second to none on the perimeter and he capitalizes on it with the ability to run those vertical routes proficiently. He's improving in other areas of his game and is an extremely valuable piece to the Steelers' offense. The Rest: Early Doucet (ARZ) Harry Douglas (ATL) Eric Weems (ATL) Roscoe Parrish (BUF) Legedu Naanee (CAR) Earl Bennett (CHI) Roy Williams (CHI) Andre Caldwell (CIN) Jerome Simpson (CIN) Eddie Royal (DEN) Rashied Davis (DET) Maurice Stovall (DET) Bryant Johnson (HOU) Pierre Garcon (IND) Anthony Gonzalez (IND) Jerheme Urban (KC) Devin Aromashodu (MIN) Bernard Berrian (MIN) Greg Camarillo (MIN) Deion Branch (NE) Matt Slater (NE) |
Re: Positions Which Need to Be Addressed
I've been saying for years that the O-line has been neglected here. The Niners would be a good model for building a sustainable running game around either a young or mediocre QB. They spent not one, but two 1st round picks on O linemen in the 2010 draft. In 2008 they drafted a G in the 2nd round. In 2007, they drafted left tackle Joe Staley in the 1st round. We have drafted ONE O-lineman in the top two rounds of the last ELEVEN drafts. I will concede that the 2012 1st round pick almost has to be a QB, but I want to see more than one high OL draft selection a decade.

Yeah, I think our oline is better but still average. Its missing something, I wouldnt mind adding another solid interior linemen in FA or high draft pick...I think we should look at drafting depth a Tackle in 4th, 5th round...trying to find some talent to back up and challenge for the RT spot. |
Re: Positions Which Need to Be Addressed
QB- Someone who is accurate and can throw deep. Mobility is probably a last point since Becks mobility is hardly being used.
OL- Need more youth and talent. I'd take more OT since everyone else is guard material. FS- We need someone who can actually play the position from sideline to sideline. CB- Someone who can shut down one side of the field. WR- A playmaker. I'd take the best FA WR available no matter the cost and pick up another from the draft. Hopefully next year our WR's we already have will be developed. |

The first thing is to figure if there is any OL that will grade that highly in THIS YEAR'S draft. Both Iupati and Davis were predicted in the mocks to be taken rather highly. Not to mention getting two 1st round picks is easier said than done. Frank Gore is a damn good back as well. He was producing big well before the arrival of those fellows. Now, we DO have a back who might reach that level in Helu, but again, the OLprospect must be good enough to be taken with a 1st round pick first. |
