I didn't know he was a WR but I figured you were refering to him being a RB who can catch well to be used in the slot. |
Re: Predict Who Will Be The Next Redskins QB (Not Necessarily the QB You Want)
Weeden will be an upgrade from Grossman. Weeden is also a better prospect than Flynn was.
|
Re: Predict Who Will Be The Next Redskins QB (Not Necessarily the QB You Want)
^but if the idea is to dump Grossman and Beck then there will be a need for two QB's to replace them and I'd imagine MS would want a vet. This is why I would like for the team to try and get Flynn and Weeden.
I now think Flynn will go to the Dolphins to be their designated starter. So we should take Weeden and look for another later round QB. This buys the team time to find their franchise QB to develope in the next few yrs. |
Re: Predict Who Will Be The Next Redskins QB (Not Necessarily the QB You Want)
I don't think Flynn is going to Miami, but that's just my guess. I still think Seattle
|
Re: Predict Who Will Be The Next Redskins QB (Not Necessarily the QB You Want)
Maybe this is off-subject, but I have a question I haven't heard asked before...
If Grossman becomes a Free Agent... is there ANY team in the NFL that would give him a shot at their starting job? If not... who do think signs him at all?? I find it kind of interesting to see what happens with him if he does go... I think ... no. This alone tells you how desperate Shanny and the Skins are to get a "real" NFL QB. |

Weeden will turn 29 during the season. Again no thanks.

Re: Predict Who Will Be The Next Redskins QB (Not Necessarily the QB You Want)
I like the idea of trading back and selecting Weeden in the middle of the first round. Forget this man's age. He's pro ready now. I also like the idea of RG3 falling to us at #6. But I wouldn't mind trading up and taking Griffin III with the 2nd or 3rd selection if the Rams or Vikings can work out a deal with the Redskins.

No but it is common sense and they would have a cap hit I believe the following year too. They will not trade manning, it would be dumb. There is no way they would get 2 1st rounders for him either. |

Re: Predict Who Will Be The Next Redskins QB (Not Necessarily the QB You Want)
Wow, you are soooo far off, he's only 28. lol. It's not a matter of will he play into his 40's. Thats not what we need him for. Luck will be gone. I personally think RGIII will be also. I think the Browns will have more ammo for him but I'm not fond of tossing a 1st and 2nd rounder this year and a 1st and 3rd next year to get RGIII. We hinder ourselves until the 3rd round.
Right now Weeden is learning our offense. He's practicing very well in it. He can make all the throws we need him to make which means by getting quality weapons around him our team will win games. Because he's already learned some of the system it will be easier to learn the rest plus he will be several steps ahead of RGIII. The team would have to start from scratch in June when the Rookies are allowed to show up vs. Weeden already knowing some of the plays and cough cough possibly already having a play book to learn the rest by June. Weeden would only need to play 5 yrs giving the team time enough to find a really decent Rookie in the next 2 yrs to start to develope for the future. You see, Weeden buys the team time to get the franchise QB you'd like them to get especially since maybe next year will have more QB's declaring.
28, 29, shit I think a 25 year old rookie quarterback is old. I'll keep a long story short and just say I don't want him. If I take a quarterback with a 1st or 2nd round pick in the draft I expect him to hold down the position for a decade if he proves to be good. Even if Weeden proves to be good nobody knows how long he'll last. He could be done by 35, nobody has any clue. And LOL at your "he's already learned some of the system." He's had 4 days in the system, and if you think you can judge his future here by 4 days in the system then you are a smarter man than I. I'm not saying I don't like Weeden to play good football for the next 5 years, I think he's capable of doing that. I just don't want to make him a "rookie bridge" for a few years until we find that elite qb we all want. It will take a 2nd round pick to get him, and I think that's too high of a price to pay for a stop gap rental. We could have an impact starter right now with that 2nd round pick we gave up for McNabb two years ago. |

Well, not only would you be on the hook for the 28 million, but it also triggers the rest of his contract which I'm sure has more guaranteed money. THen you are looking at the cap hit and the money that Luck/RGIII will get and no team is giong to pony up 40+ million in two QB spots. On top of that, NOBODY and I mean NOBODY outside of the Raiders will give you a multiple 1st rounders for Manning with his health being what it is. I sure as hell wouldn't. I doubt you'll find a team that would pony up one. |

Um...yeah!? That is why they play the game. |
Re: Predict Who Will Be The Next Redskins QB (Not Necessarily the QB You Want)
I don't understand why there's a debate over Peyton being traded? It's simple...
1- If Peyton is healing and looks like he will be able to play in Sept. then the Colts will keep him even though he's not happy. This is what the owner has said. 2- If Peyton is healthy they will keep him if not they will let him go. Not trade him. 3- More recently Peyton I think has been trying to orchistrate his release by speaking out through the media. He's the first to know that his boss the owner does not like their laundry to be aired through the media. Peyton does not want to on the sideline while some young Rookie takes over. I'm sure Peyton has dreams of grandure that he can come back. I'm sure he's holding out hope he can get healthy and come back and play a few more years. He's healing and things are looking promising. But..... 4- There is no guarentee that Peyton will be able to play again. No guarentee he will be ready to start come Sept. and because of both of these issues there is no way the Colts keep him and pay him 28 mill. and also the very reason they will draft a QB. |

Claiborne/Dwight Jones Blackmon/Hosley Richardson/Sanu
Definitely Blackmon, and most likely Claiborne will go in the top 5. There is no way either of them fall to us unless a team pulls a Oakland Raiders Heyward-Bey at #7 out of thin air draft pick. I hope like hell we don't waste our 1st on Richardson. We have so much young talent at RB that would be nothing less than an epic failure if we went that route. d |

Claiborne/Dwight Jones Blackmon/Hosley Richardson/Sanu Warner was already a "pro" when he came in.
First part: What about if we got two beast MLB's? Like Vontaze Burfict and Donta Hightower? Second part: How can you say Warner entered the league already as a pro? He went into the training camp undrafted, couldn't even throw a ball ten yards. Went on to bag groceries and be in an arena football league, (something that any college qb can do), then got signed to NFL europe playing against mostly guys that never made it to the league or 3rd stringers (similar to the canadian football league), and then went to the Rams in 98...Weeden played 4 seasons at OK state, like Warner at Northern Iowa. Weeden played with better players, but also better competition and defenses(Von Miller, Gerald McCoy, Suh, Amukamara, Aldon Smith, Orakpo, etc.) If Weeden were 21,22, 23, hell even 24 He'd be a first rounder. Age doesn't mean much for the QB position. Hell Vinny Testeverde played till he was 46. Favre played until he was 42. Warner retired at 38, playing 11 years going to 3 super bowls. Look, I was just like you in terms of Weeden, but in terms of value of where we'll be drafting and being that the good QB's will be gone, and the fact that this guys only weakness is his age, makes it a lot better of a prospect than an unknown inaccurate Tannehill. Every scout likes Weeden, they just wish he was younger. Can't change that but oh well live with it. |
Weeden as a 3rd round pick would be a steal.
Your right if he fell that far he would ba a steal. Problem is he won't.
Brandon Weeden, QB, Oklahoma State, 6-3, 219, 5.00 (South Squad)Weeden saved his best day for the final padded practice. We should trade down if we are going with Burfict or Hightower. Both would be a real reach at 6.

earthquake, well in that case, if I'm staying at 6 I'm taking best player available, except for Trent Richardson, TE, OLB.
If Blackmon falls I'm getting him right away. Claiborne? Yep. Kirkpatrick? Yep. Johnathan Martin? Yea. Decastro? why not Tannehill? No I said Best player available. |

Remember when we took Landry over Peterson in 2007 at pick 6 because we had Portis? Yes I'm putting them in the same class if Richardson is there at 6 and we can't trade down I take him. In this whole class the two best non-qbs when it's all said and done will be Trent Richardson and Morris Claiborne and I wouldn't cry uf we got either. |
