Re: Peyton Manning Chooses the Broncos
The Broncos should have kept Tebow and Manning should have went to a team that truly needed a quarterback. How do you get rid of your young quarterback who had a winning record as a starter and made a playoff appearance in exchange for a aging veteran who missed all of the prior season with neck problems? It doesn't make sense and I don't see any sounded minded GM making this move.

When that aging vet is considered possibly the greatest quarterback of all time, that's how you do it. |

Really? you don't see a sound minded GM considering moving away from a qb who in one NFL game completed 2 whole passes, for one of the most proficient passers ever? It doesn't make any sense at all? I would submit that the Broncos WERE "a team that truly needed a quarterback" instead of a HB/QB option. |
Re: Peyton Manning Chooses the Broncos
I'm kind of jaded about the whole thing. I mean we've seen a million times where older athletes basically put it all on the line with an ill-advised comeback. Consider that there were people saying at the beginning of this year that they reccomended Peyton take another year off to heal to 100% before coming back. Where are those people now? I think his health is truly a big mystery. Fans can say he passed all the tests, well sure people pass the tests when they have concussions, other serious injuries that they keep from the coaches, etc..
But I think Peyton is too smart of a guy for that and I think if he says he can be back to 100% i believe it. It isn't like when the skins picked up McNabb and the entire country knew he was shot, i think Peyton might surprise us all this year... |

So how about Tracy Porter who was the guy who took away Manning's chances of winning a 2nd super bowl is now on the team with manning so that they could win their 2nd super bowl together...

^^ Watch out Matty, with comments like that, you're just a step or two away from holding conversations in the locker with your junk hanging out. Hell, you may even crap in a public toilet soon.
But, I guess I digress. |

I'm not commenting on Pat Robertson one way or the other, but I do have a question about the acquisition of the rights to RGIII. I pray it never happens, but what happens if he has a career ending injury like Joey T, but at the beginning of his career? It's a freaky game, a funny shaped ball, defenses are trying to get the QB, and injuries can literally set a team back a few years. You say, "Don't say such things!" But I look at the Patriots, Packers, Steelers as the model for modern teams, and none traded so much to move up. In addition, at least, the Patriots are always in a great position in the Draft. The reason I bring it up is because in my Fantasy league, I have lost more games from injuries than from poor drafting. Injuries kill me and it causes me to be more anxious and worry. |
Midway through the evening Elway received a text telling him the Redskins had just pulled off a huge trade with St. Louis for the second pick in the draft, presumably to take prized Baylor quarterback Robert Griffin III. Elway told Manning, "Whoa—Washington just traded for the second pick. Looks like they'll get RG3." "What!?" Manning said, stunned. From that reaction, Elway knew that the Redskins had been on Manning's list. Manning slept at Stokley's house in suburban Castle Rock that night, and the next morning, Saturday, March 10, the two headed to a nearby field to get a throwing session in. When they found it in use by a lacrosse team, they switched to Plan B, a community park with a 40-yard-square field. As passers-by approached during the workout, Stokley would yell, "Jogger!" or "Cyclist!" and he and Manning would hide the football until the person passed. That afternoon Manning had another appointment scheduled—with Redskins coach Mike Shanahan and his son Kyle, Washington's offensive coordinator. Though it made little sense after the Rams deal, the Shanahans wanted to keep the date, and Manning did. They discussed football for three hours at Shanahan's expansive house in Denver. Talk about strange connections. Shanahan had been Elway's coach for those two Super Bowls and was fired by the Broncos after the 2008 season. Now Elway ran the Broncos. As Shanahan talked with Manning, a text message popped up on the coach's phone. It was from Elway. "Hey, Mike, put in a good word for us with Peyton." All Shanahan could do was laugh.
|
Re: Peyton Manning Chooses the Broncos
I guess it turns out Manning had interest in us after all. I'm not disappointed the feeling wasn't mutual though, because I am happy with how things have turned out.
