Re: Breaking Bad Season 5
As far as the episode though I don't know how a better episode of any show will ever be made.

Re: Breaking Bad Season 5
So does Walter go down guns blazing? Looks like he's intent on leaving his mark somehow. It can't all be for nothing.
Gotta think that he takes down Uncle Jack and company. What does he do with Jesse? What does he do with the ricin? What does he do with his money now that it's apparent his family wants nothing to do with him? |

LOL! I ked. I am still lost as to what will happen. I still say Walt JR goes down as the shocker to the final. It is hard for me to grasp Todd as the bad guy I still picture him as the geeky kid from FNL; whose character I loved. |
Re: Breaking Bad Season 5
Let me add:
I think in the end Walt dies (either by himself, someone else or cancer) and his family gets jack as far as money. He was better off dieing of cancer back in season one then have played all this out; at least he would have died an honorable man. |

Could very well be Jr. Todd is definitely a big departure from Landry. Or Lance as coach called him. |

I just keep thinking please please don't hurt the baby. Someday I hope to forget the majority of this story and just sit down to a wick marathon showing of it. I think that be the best way to enjoy it. I am SO jealous of anyone has not seen this show yet. |
Re: Breaking Bad Season 5
I'm just really happy the writers are injecting the Gray Matter arc into the finale. It was sort of lying beneath the chaos this entire show... and they may finally tie this up. No half measures!

I don't get the impression the writers want him to "win" |

I don't really see a way they could bring it back into Lydia at this point. She would really have no reason to "sit down" with Walt so he could be sneaky about it.... Really no one would at this point, which makes me think he'll just take it himself. I gotta say, when they shot Andrea that was probably the biggest jump out of my chair moment of the whole series. Has there been anyone in the entire series that has been killed like that who was so innocent (even Hank/Gomez know the dangers of their job)? ** Edit: Obviously forgot about Drew Sharp** |

Re: Breaking Bad Season 5
No way Walt makes it out alive. The whole point of the show was summed up in the last episode. Here's this guy who tells himself he's doing this for his family. Yet everything he does is destructive towards that. And in the end instead of going to jail for his family...he goes to what is essentially jail to die. He only comes out not to do anything for his family but instead because his pride and ego get bruised again by the Gray Matter stuff. At the end of the day he only cares that he never had the life and success he thought he should have and that's what all of this has been about.

Re: Breaking Bad Season 5
And yeah he's going after the Nazis...he'll kill them only to be killed by Jesse in the end. Gotta be the way.

Exactly! That was a great post it is more then the cancer it is also his missed opportunity at the business his friend made billions off and he was just a lowly chem teacher. HE was never happy with where his life ended up cancer or no cancer. Gray Matter - Breaking Bad Wiki |
Re: Breaking Bad Season 5
Few crazy thoughts here:
It's inevitable that Walt and Jesse become reunited for at least one final scene. There has to be some remaining dialogue between them to end the series. Perhaps Jesse lives, perhaps he dies for his crimes- no idea. But I'm certain they will speak next episode. Additionally, I can't help but notice some odd things within this scene: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jgu8K-F8k48]Breaking Bad - "I Watched Jane Die" - YouTube[/ame] I'm watching Walt's face, and if you mute it... it looks like he's apologizing. I know that there is a moral argument about Walt, and his identity, but this scene looks like Walt is saying sorry for watching Jane die. (maybe I'm looking into this too much, but the 2 eagles soaring together also seems to signify something as well.... perhaps that Jesse and Walt's respective fates are the same?). Additionally, I think there's more to Todd and Walt's relationship than meets the eye. It seems awfully too convenient that Todd steps up and saves Jesse, while also giving Walt a barrel of money. If Walt wanted Jesse alive, protected, and preserved... that's the way to do it. Things went out of wack, and waaaayyy off course, but Walt may still have gotten his wish. Obviously no-one knows what's going on, but I have some sneaking suspicion Walt is still has more control than we are led to believe, but will spiral out of control a la Scarface. There are obviously some gaping holes in my theory, but I'm bored and it's fun to speculate |

Walt, Sr. fakes his own death, takes his barrel of money and retires to become a lumberjack in Oregon.

yes. this. I really didn't like the whole last season of dexter. too much seemed a bit forced. breaking bad's doing the last season thing SOOO much better. |
yes. this.

Those two are my two "shows" and I can't tell you how disappointed I was with Dexter. Not just the finale, I thought as a whole that was one of the better episodes of the season....but the last season as a whole was awful, made no sense, and felt like just another season. I think that was a show that stayed around 2 years too long.... and watching that and Breaking Bad back to back every Sunday probably didn't help my impression of Dexter with how awesome Breaking Bad has been. |

Looking back, I think only the first, third and fourth seasons of Dexter were quality. The new sargeant, Masuka's daughter, etc... absolute filler that went nowhere. I basically wasted four seasons to get to the silly storm/ LL Bean outfit. It would have been better if a Sharknado hit Miami. This is how I felt about the last few seasons of Dexter: [YT]lBRvhIV81hY[/YT] |
Re: Breaking Bad Season 5
yeah, that was super super lame... and predictable. I also wondered why they introduced the daughter. she played absolutely no part in anything important beyond filling 5 minutes of dead space.

Re: Breaking Bad Season 5
Perfect ending.
Agreed. I bet a few people will be pissed that there weren't a bunch of last minute twists or crazy WTF moments, but there was just such a sense of closure.
I'm going to be thinking about this for awhile longer. |

Yeah maybe, at some point you have to let the small things slide. Like him parking the car right where he did, leaving the keys on the pool table, etc. I just loved how it wrapped everything up and gave true closure. |
Re: Breaking Bad Season 5
I agree I just think they would have looked in the trunk.
I understand that type of disbelief but I am constantly reminding myself that 99.9999% of the world's criminals aren't detail oriented geniuses. They make "mistakes" like that all the time. |
Who would have thought there would be a remote operated m60 in the trunk?
Who would have thought there would be a remote operated m60 in the trunk?
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
Even though I knew he had the M60 and he was testing the contraption earlier in the show... I still didn't expect that. I was thinking he had a bomb or something and was just gonna blow them all away. Either way, if anyone is complaining about the ending, I think they're just looking for something to complain about. I thought it was perfect, tied the whole series together really nicely. There were a few more "unrealistic" things in that episode than is typical of Breaking Bad, but they had to find a way to close it all up and they did that just perfectly. Can't say enough about that last season though. The series as a whole was amazing, but that season 5 was just on another level. |
Re: Breaking Bad Season 5
The rare show that started good, got stronger as the seasons went on, and finally went out before it faded. Hard to do nowadays when dragging a show out 2-3 more seasons can make so much money. That's the most impressive thing to me. They bailed at 5 before it even got a hint of stink to it.

Exactly. There have been so many shows (basically all the ones I've ever been a huge fan of) that just get so bad and overplayed. |
Re: Breaking Bad Season 5
The scenes with Walt and Skyler and then Walt, Holly and Skyler were pretty flawless.
I mean the whole episode was great. Great way to wrap an amazing series. I miss it already |
Re: Breaking Bad Season 5
Really the acting in it was among the best ever. Cranston, Gunn, Paul, Norris, and Odenkirk probably make up a top 3 ensemble.
The story was good and written fantastically...also mostly believable save minor things here and there but the acting carried it. I agree with SS...the scene between Walt and Skyler was like a master class in realism. |
Re: Breaking Bad Season 5
As an aside...I have watched the new Michael J Fox show (which isn't very good) and I defy anyone to see Betsy Brandt as anyone other than Marie.

Vince Gilligan sure has set the bar sky high for his next show.
