I like Kyle quite a bit actually. I think he is a pretty good coordinator, but has never had the quality pieces to run the offense. |
Re: 2012 Training Camp Competitions Open Discussion
I didn't think that Kyle did such a hot job last year. Granted, his toys were of poor quality. Nonetheless I didn't feel like he got the most out of those toys. I still don't understand why we were among the league leaders in pass attempts (and this includes the first quarter, negating the playing-from-behind argument) when we had Wrecks/Beck slinging the ball and two young studs with fresh legs who could have carried it more.
But Kyle has shown that he can create a high octane offense when he has high quality toys. Therefore I expect a more robust showing from him this year. |

Pretty much how I feel. Not sure why Skins fans expected from him considering the absolute trash he's had to work with. It's generally the case of fans overvaluing the players on the team. |

A cool story from training camp yesterday. Kudos to Danny and the team for making this happen.

We're apparently looking at Cedric Benson or Ryan Grant.

No issues with Kyle, but the Jammal situation its almost like they are begging to be criticized for not doing more. Tackle for rookie franchise QB, its a head scratcher. |

Practice is in the afternoon. Yesterday's practice...it was hot. The Redskins Blog | Apparently The First Practice Was Hot Funny how RGIII didn't mind the heat while his teammates are all mentioning it. Nothing compared to Texas. |
Re: 2012 Training Camp Competitions Open Discussion
Very disappointing news about Brown. This is the time where he should be 100% healthy. I'm getting the feeling that it's time to move on. Let's this be a lesson for the FO. NEVER trade for a guy coming off an injury that didn't play the year before.

When will the era of The Hogs II ever happen?
That would give me such an organism. |
I don't get the impression the majority of posters here are fans of Kyle. Or maybe it's that those that are are more quiet
I get the opposite vibe.
*(Maybe in this forum the responses are a backlash against GTripp vocal dislike?) I feel like most objective evaluations or criticisms of Kyle's offense are met with knee jerk (and often over the top) defenses or rationaliztions. The main argument centers on the lack of talent. For example (and forgive me for re-hashing (man I miss college, I would love to re-hash...I digress..)) but the 1st of Kyle's offense was actually worse then Zorn's last year in every meaningful offensive category. Yet the very mention of the actual metrics, even without an actual good/bad value judgement, was met with scorn. None the less.. I think Kyle has some great concepts in the passing game. However; his overall lack of balance pass vs run concerns me. But I hope/suspect (that even without Kyle becoming more balanced) Griffin and Co. (Garcon, Hankerson etc) are the tools Kyle needs to execute his pass first offense.
I didn't think that Kyle did such a hot job last year. Granted, his toys were of poor quality. Re: 2012 Training Camp Competitions Open Discussion
Based on the opinions of people that know more than me: Kyle is really good at being a coordinator and schemes. Based on my lowly opinion. He is not a great play caller.

Re: 2012 Training Camp Competitions Open Discussion
Kyle has developed the talent and implemented a system for several years, excuses are done. This year its time to shut up and put up some numbers.
|
Re: 2012 Training Camp Competitions Open Discussion
^ I don't think you'll have many that will argue with you. If RG3 develops like everyone hopes he will, Kyle should do just fine.

Let's not forget that at the most important position we have a rookie that didn't play in a pro system. All rookie QB's struggle. Even some of the great ones...Troy Aikman and John Elway had terrible rookie seasons. I expect RG3 to do the same. Especially early. |

Cam Newton, Andy Dalton, Mark Sanchez and Joe Flacco beg to differ.. Just because he's a rookie doesn't automatically equal struggles. Sure he will have rookie moments but him playing like a middle tier NFL QB isn't out of the realm of possibility. Just don't expect him to be a top 12 QB right away and you won't be disappointed. |
Re: 2012 Training Camp Competitions Open Discussion
Rookie QBs are much more pro ready than they were back in Elway and Aikman's day. RG3 isn't going to struggle in the same way they did.

Times have changed and recent success of rookie QB has been more the rule then the exception. Mike Shanahan has spoken of putting the pieces around a QB to have success. Obviously he feels the current team had the blocks to support that success. If Griffin struggles then something is wrong, and I don't neccesarily mean with him. |
Re: 2012 Training Camp Competitions Open Discussion
Alright guys I'm being completely honest here.. Does anyone else find Shanahan is starting to go senile? The guy answering questions at the press conference today was not the Mike Shanahan I know.
Anyways, I like the Briscoe claim. |

Anyways, I like the Briscoe claim.
You actually watch Shanny's pressers? Wow. That takes dedication, especially when you know the answer to every question before he says it. As far as your question goes, I have no idea if he's senile or not. Does he still answer every question in coach-speak? If so, doubtful. Business as usual. Or, if every question-answer exchange goes likes this, maybe you are onto something. Reporter: Mike, what should we expect to see out of RG3 in the preseason? Shanny: Huh? I told those kids if they didn't stay off my lawn I'm gonna raise cain. |

Nothing wrong with that. They'll also play them every now and then in the place of the Larry michael show on CSN. |

I live in Canada so I can't just turn on the tv at night to get the latest. All I'm saying is he isn't the guy I'm used to seeing speak. He looks beat, he's less interested and the clever jokes are gone. |
Re: 2012 Training Camp Competitions Open Discussion
So has anyone gone to TC yet? I was at Training camp last year and Shanahan held 11 on 11 he held it at the furthest field away from the fans and we, the fans, couldn't see anything. Has it changed? Is it on the closer field? Can you see a lot of RG3 throwing and running or is that on the opposite field?

So now that Mike Sellers is retiring, I would not be surprised to see him as an analyst, maybe on Comcast Sports
|
Re: 2012 Training Camp Competitions Open Discussion
With Jammal Brown again having hip problems, that should open tremendous competition at right tackle. Tyler Polumbus might get the starting job.
