A month ago I would have said Hightower to IR (I think I did actually), two weeks ago (Hightower starting). Now he's back on the unemployment line. Crazy

I just hope he can still pay rent because my family's not lending him the use of our house for free
he has a lot of friends in the area. (knowing nothing about the ravens backfield) wouldn't be surprised if they gave him a sniff.
this is why i do my fantasy drafts in september
This is why I don't draft Redskin RBs! LOL

So what are we looking at for RBs against the Saints now? Royster starting with Helu on 3 down? Morris is great, but too green to start against the Saints right?

Steve Slaton who the skins been looking at, was traded to us for Armstrong, Dez makes the team

Cutting Hightower is the right move. And maybe I am wrong but i see him as a guy who will be available on the waiver wire this year if we have injury trouble and need him.

Why? emergency backup RB? Like a 3rd string QB?

While we are getting former Texan RBs, can we just trade for Ben Tate and end all of this mess!

I think they're still iffy on Helu's health quite honestly

Zero, no surprise at the Hightower move. Real good move to get Slaton.

But keeping 4 CB and what 6 safeties is the head scratcher for me

Haven't been able to confirm that we got him for Armstrong, but I know (and some others here know as well) that the Redskins and Dolphins have been talking Slaton trade for a couple of weeks and the Dolphins were asking for much more than just AA up until as recently as Monday

I think we could still see some cuts/signings based on who gets released elsewhere?
Cutting or trading Aldrick Robinson is move that they will end up regretting...
I agree. I think he had the ability to be every bit the "playmaker' that Banks supposedly is.

Show me something in the regular season Brandon. I really, really want to be wrong about you.

Great trade Armstrong for Slaton. It helps out both teams. Now Slaton can return kicks which means bye bye Banks...? (Wishful thinking)

But really 6 safeties and 4 CBs..what happens when we play teams that go to 5Wide sets...Good luck!

there is no need for 6 safeties, when we are going with 1 depth tackle, Black, who hasnt played ball for a year. we should be very concerned

I concur on all points. Banks' better repay Danny Smith's loyalty to him. And I thought Robinson showed a lot more this preseason than he did last preseason. I really hope he makes an impact this year.

I agree on Banks completely. He pulls something out his arse every August to save his job and then it's a season full of muffs and almost doing something. That was fine when we had no talent a couple years ago but now that we have to cut promising young players to make room for him I am not on board. I would have preferred to let Robinson have a shot at the punt return job and save a roster spot for a player not as one dimensional...

JoeRedskin 08-31-2012 12:34 PM

Re: Official Redskins Final Cuts Thread

Five cuts left to be made based on the first page list.

It's looking like Briscoe, A. Robinson and Banks make the team as 5th, 6th & 7th WR's.

Again I ask, who's left that was open for debate? White?

Yeah I really hope Compton doesn't get picked up elsewhere, he looked good, as good if not better than Black

Like the Slaton move...him and Helu can handle the change of pace role and Morris & Royster can handle the primary RB role. Good depth...

Not even that. It's really just Tampa Bay. I'm hating that team more and more now.

Yeah, I could see someone like Arizona or T-Bay snatching up Compton. Hope that's not the case. Then again, he could be this year's Selvish Capers.

How hard is it to trade the two, Dolphins, quit being such a pain in the ass and trade him to us already. Heres armstrong. Theres slaton. BAM. Trade done.

Compton looked well beyond what Capers ever did in preseason.

Love the move. It wasn't long ago when Slaton was a stud RB for Houston. Injury and Arian Foster made everyone forget about him. If he can regain his form, we made a great move.

I didn't think Armstrong was going to make the team anyway. We're making some awesome moves trading players we'll probably cut for value. I love this front office.

Re: Official Redskins Final Cuts Thread

I'm surprised that Robinson AND Banks both made the team. I didn't think there would be room for both.

Glad Aldrick is staying.

Keeping Banks as a returner will be very valuable, but he's nothing as a WR.

SmootSmack 08-31-2012 12:45 PM

Kinda hoping this trade happens, 'cause this is probably as close as the Redskins will ever get to being on Hard Knocks

Would piss myself laughing if they cut Banks after picking up Slaton. Know it won't happen, but that would make my day.
