Re: 2013 NFL Draft Prospects
Ok, I know highlights are just that...highlights, but while reading comments from an article on website discussing who the Skins should look at in the 2013 draft someone mentioned the name Denard Robinson. Ok, they said he could be used as a QB,RB,WR. I looked him up just because I was curious but honestly after looking at his highlight reel I'd pick him up to hopefully start the season at QB until RG3 was ready. or atleast have both handy. Plus he is fast as a runner in case they wanted a speed RB package.

he's also in the small/mobile qb category, open to injury
I guess your right. He's 20lbs lighter then RG3 and people think he is too light at 217lbs. He's only 2 inches shorter then RG3 though. I was thinking that when RG3 came back put Robinson in the pistol next to him, or have RG3 throw to the flat to him and have Robinson throw down field. |
Re: 2013 NFL Draft Prospects
I don't know I watch the D.Robinson kid and I'm just amazed at his speed, elusiveness, and arm strength. I could see him spelling RG3 if need be or standing in the pistol waiting for the hand off.
The plus is it looks like he played in an option style spread offense also. So there might not be too much of a learning curve bringing him in. I know we have two talented QB's already. I could also see him catching the ball a yrd behind the QB and then throwing down field after the defense commits to trying to stop him from running. |
Re: 2013 NFL Draft Prospects
Dennard Robinson is Slash (potentially) but Dennard can NOT throw the football downfield. He has a weaker arm than Colt McCoy

does anyone else share my view of manti te'o? (nothing special)
don't see much more potential than someone like derek smith, can have a nice long career w plenty of starts - but don't see many (if any) pro bowls in his future. |

He was good enough to shine enough during the season to be the Heisman runner-up, mostly because of the INTs. However, I was looking for more from him against Alabama and I didn't see him have much of an impact at all...a few tackles, but much like the rest of that defense - he got dominated. No Thanks. I am sure there are better options out there. Heisman |

He might not be the next Ray Lewis but still a good solid Linebacker, like Sean Lee from the Cowboys, or James Laurinaitis from the Rams, I thought he would show up against Alabama but really only two players showed up for Notre Dame during that game at all, Nix the nosetackle had a good game, won some battles against Barret Jones, and Eifert. But Te'o will be a solid starter, still he might end up developing into something better because the man has heart. |
Re: 2013 NFL Draft Prospects
Anyone notice Nick Florence from Baylor this year performing, statistically, very comparably to RGIII in the Art Briles' offense?
RGIII in 2011: 291 comp - 402 att, 4,293 yds, 37 TD, 6 INT 179 rushes, 699 yds, 3.9 avg, 10 TD Florence in 2012: 286 comp - 484 att, 4,309 yds, 33 TD, 13 INT 139 rushes, 568 yds, 4.1 avg, 10 TD Florence is supposed to be a 6th - 7th round pick (if that)... just saying... a flier as a back-up, back-up plan? (Ha) Seriously though, those numbers aren't strikingly different... and if we start 2013 with Cousins under center while RGIII is still healing... we will need a 2nd string, preferably not Grossman. I'm not saying this is the best use of one of our late round picks... but the dude learned under RGIII once before... |
Re: 2013 NFL Draft Prospects
To Los pandas point, I'm not going to agree or disagree with you. But ill say this; coming out of high school manti was highly touted. He played in the Hawaii vs land game and looked ok. I thought he was overrated. I then followed him slowly throughout his notre dame career and watched him get better and better. Then this game happened and I'm there thinking how the hell can the same guy whose making picks left and right and making big hits look like a division 3 LB?!? I think if the right team gets him(steelers, ravens) hell be good.
As to Hail to the Redskins post, I agree I would get Florence too because of his familiarity with rg3 and the offense. Hell you may not even need to give up a pick for him. Also heres a good list of ''under the radar guys'' from SI 2013 NFL Draft: Stefphon Jefferson, Corey Lemonier, more underclassmen sleepers | Audibles - SI.com |

Te'o has a more better upside than Derek Smith....I'd say he's more in the mold of Harry Carson or Ray Nitschke in terms of potential....if he's coached up and fits in the right defense. |
Re: 2013 NFL Draft Prospects
the derek smith comparison was in regards to how his career pans out, not his specific skill set, per se.
something like: play 11+ years have 160+ career starts contribute to team w/o standing out in any area earn trips to 0 pro bowls i don't see much more than that in te'o's future, but it's not like that's a failure by any stretch. just don't expect him to be like patrick willis, giving you that kind of roi on your 1st round investment. |

Notre Dame Statement: Manti Te’o
On Dec. 26, Notre Dame coaches were informed by Manti Te’o and his parents that Manti had been the victim of what appears to be a hoax in which someone using the fictitious name Lennay Kekua apparently ingratiated herself with Manti and then conspired with others to lead him to believe she had tragically died of leukemia. The University immediately initiated an investigation to assist Manti and his family in discovering the motive for and nature of this hoax. While the proper authorities will continue to investigate this troubling matter, this appears to be, at a minimum, a sad and very cruel deception to entertain its perpetrators. As someone who just heard about this 10 minutes heres what I've put together. In an interview with SI he told the story of the week his girlfriend and Grandmother died and how he used that as motivation for the rest of the season. It eventually became part of his Heisman narrative. Deadspin is now saying the girlfriend never existed. Te'o is now saying he was the victim of a hoax, in which case the explanation released by the Te'o family is very......just....I. Keep in mind though this is just from scanning articles about a story I learned no less then 10 minutes ago. I imagine this will give you the clarity you seek. Very possible. If thats the case he'd have been much better served to play hockey as an ESPN poll of players shows 92.3% of NHL players support gay marriage. NFL is second at 61.5%. After that NBA at 46.2% and MLB at 45% in favor of. Personally I would guess that the NHL has the lowest percentage of gay players and MLB and NBA would have the highest. On a slight side note I wouldn't be surprised if Tebow was gay. Youngest male sibling in a large family, soft voice, extremely religous so he doesn't have to live up to the typical "player" standard also on top of that it's not uncommon for people to be scared of certain urges and turn to God to "cure" them. Of course I'm talking out my arse but the point here should be we have to get over this pandemic of homophobia because if someone were to come out it would be a HUGE DEAL when in reality it should just be "oh he's gay, wow, never would have guessed, OH I love this commercial." Oh and in the interest of fairness maybe I'm gay because I'm really quick to point out others that might be gay drawing attention away from my gayness. |
Re: 2013 NFL Draft Prospects
Maybe LaVar is gay and that's how he sniffed him out.

Maybe your'e gay unlike me who's totally straight and is actually in the middle of a "party" with like 13 chicks (personally lost count). Typical Wednesday Night or as I like to call it "ladies night." Just taking a break to post on the Internets while I catch my breaths. |
Re: 2013 NFL Draft Prospects
If Te'o is not gay now, he better get gay fast.
"Admitting" he made the whole thing up to hide the fact he was gay to protect him from prejudice would take the heat off and probably turn him into some kind of hero. |

While I was reading the deadspin story, that's the assumption I got. I can't see any other explanation for it... being embarrassed about an online relationship doesn't lead to a magnitude of this cover-up. He's Mormon and an athlete in an alpha male environment- two reasons why he may have felt compelled to have a virtual "beard" so to speak. That or he's just mentally ill. |
