U can tell Griff was a little mad about not playing. No chance he sits next week
Did you see Grossmans expression when they showed him, like .......... ok Im never taking another snap here again..........lol |
Re: Skins 38 Browns 21 post game thread
Yeah, could drop Rexy right now.
Aside from Kirk's amazing performance, just really amazed at how good our defense looks right now. Still giving up a big play here and there, and points on the board, but the key turnovers are really giving us the edge in this 5 game streak.. Hasletts doing a great job. And -- R.Jackson has been a beast, Kerrigan has fly swatters for hands, and Fletch defies age. |
Re: Skins 38 Browns 21 post game thread
After Pittsburg and a couple of games where fletch wasn't close to a 100% I thought he was about done. Not so much anymore. He has played excellent the last few weeks.

I see you're not really mocking Rex, I just never understand why some do mock and put down guys when it's their time to go, when they came here and didn't make trouble like say Haynesworth.

He's still hurt, Fletcher is a man. The only thing he hasn't done well is covering TE, I attest that to his age. |
Re: Skins 38 Browns 21 post game thread
It's sad, London is less than 2 years older than me, but I think of him as a grandpa. The NFL is a strange beast.
Does bold also mean dumb?
Probably, but I think Kyle leaves and takes one of our Qbs with him. It'll probably be cousins, but rg3 would do better with Kyle than mike. I want both to stay though. I'd rather keep cousins through his contract and just get a 3rd round compensatory when he leaves to start somewhere else. And I want Kyle coaching this team when mikes contract is up. |
Re: Skins 38 Browns 21 post game thread
I thought it was pointless to keep Rex on the roster after he was dropped to 3rd string, until I found out how valuable he's been to the two rookies. He's mentored them all season dealing with on and off field matters. He's an incredible teammate and RG3 especially has depended on him a lot.
|
Re: Skins 38 Browns 21 post game thread
Dan Snyder. Won't let Kyle go anywhere, he'll get paid like a HC or as much as his old man.

Kyle going somewhere isn't out of the realm of possibility, but RG3 is. |

Do you think we keep him next year? Give what you've said, I think it's worthwhile. |

I hope so, but How long will Kyle want to to be OC when he knows he'd be a better HC than a lot of guys out there? also, I'm starting to think mike wont want to retire after his contract is up. I man, why wouldnt he want to keep coaching? hes still fairly young. That would put snyder in an awkward position - keep around an older man whos turned your franchise around? or dont resign him and go with the future? |
Re: Skins 38 Browns 21 post game thread
Don't know if it's mentioned but..
Redskins K Kai Forbath made a 44-yard field goal and is 15 of 15, one shy of the NFL record to start a career |
Re: Skins 38 Browns 21 post game thread
I think we'll let him test the market and if nothing's out there we'd be happy to have him back. Not a priority though

That's good news... There wasn't a market for him this year so I don't know why there would be next. |
Re: Skins 38 Browns 21 post game thread
I was aggravated to hear the post-game crew reporting that the Redskins staff had revealed that Cousins was drafted in part because they thought they might be able to turn him around this season for a first round pick, especially given the weakness of this year's draft at the QB position.
Given RGIII's style of play and increased risk for injury, I think it is critical that Redskins keep a quality backup QB, namely Cousins. Hated to hear that the plan may include swapping him for a first round pick this season. I suppose that is why we ultimately root for the uniform rather than specific players because players come and go quickly in this league. I would just love to see both QB's and Kyle stick with team for a long time. Kyle has become a master play-caller in the NFL! |

He's not going anywhere this season, the trade deadline has come and gone. I think people are getting way ahead of themselves with this Cousins trade speculation. Way ahead. |
Re: Skins 38 Browns 21 post game thread
I don't think he's going anywhere for another year. You don't flip a QB that fast.

And certainly not for a 1st. Cousins will be back for another year at least. But if someone is crazy enough to give up a 1st... We'd be nuts not to take that and run. |

If he is ever good enough to get a 1st I am guessing it won't so easy for us to part with him considering how he would have to earn that much respect in the league. Certainly one good game and a few flashy mop-ups won't do the trick. |

Oh yeah hey he seems to be a standup team player. Plus man dont think i feel sorry for a guy making that kind of money for standing around. Lol. Ill take his job tonite. Dude had a nice career and even went to a superbowl. Im sure his competitive side isnt too happy, but in the big picture he has done just fine for himself. His expression though was funny - everyone else was all smiles n he just looked down. After recent events in the world i dont feel bad mocking him for being down over something like playing football. At all. |
Keep cousins he's really good

So if and when Kyle leaves he isnt getting a parting gift in the form of one of our QB's. But lets say he takes another job, and they dont have a qb, and he talks up say Cousins to his new team - what do you expect them to throw at us? Because Kyle isnt "taking" anyone and in essence it would be just like any other team showing interest. |
Re: Skins 38 Browns 21 post game thread
Cousins played well.. d stood up most of the 2nd.half... overall a very good full team.effort today and a.HUGE win with out star out..

I would say the kolb, Palmer deals point to the fact we could indeed get a pick or at least a starter level player back for him even after only 5 quarters of football. There are quite a few teams that would consider trading for a qb, chiefs, jags, cards, raiders, eagles?, Vikings?, Bills? Etc. with no prospect rated at the elite level in the draft, I could see a team trying to make a trade. Think of it this way, if you are a cardinals fan would you rather have Vick for high dollars or trade a 1st for cousins with a favorable contract that would allow you to see how good he is before you throw the big money at him? |
Re: Skins 38 Browns 21 post game thread
Cousins is 10x the QB Whedon is
Period thats my thoughts on todays game. Mike Shanahan still has it he can go find unknowns and stuff and make them stars....In this case this was a give me as Kirk Cousins coulda been drafted second round |

Re: Skins 38 Browns 21 post game thread
As hard as I have been on the Shanahans, to go into their house and have our rookie QB, a fourth round pick making his first start, completely outplay their rookie QB, a first round pick making his 14th start, by every objective metric was a huge testament to the coaching job done by those two guys.
I don't know if Cousins starts next week or if he gets traded (huge mistake IMO) but the guy really looked like he could be a starter in the NFL and there are a shocking number of teams that don't have a starting QB on their roster. |

Re: Skins 38 Browns 21 post game thread
Big ups to KS for making adjustments both pre-game and in game to adjust the offense to what Cousins does well.
I wasn't able to watch a lot of the game, but, in the parts I saw, Cousins' roll-outs were well done and clearly took advantage of Cleveland's D selling out to stop Morris. Scrapping the pistol and options b/c they are Cousins' game and, essentially, pulling out last year's play book was pretty gutsy given that the offense hadn't really used it in a year. Kudos to coaches and players. |
Re: Skins 38 Browns 21 post game thread
Great game yesterday after a shaky start. I'll have to say after the first 4 (I think it was 4) 3 and outs I was starting to think get Grossman need to go in. Then evrything just turned around and the Team played a great game.
Not sure why people think Kyle is going anywhere he is staying here to take over when his dad retires. |
