Re: Russel Wilson or Bob
Obviously all 3 are good QBs, good leaders, good runners.
They're all very close in arm talent to my eye: By arm I mean the combination of quickness of release, velocity, touch (deep ball) and accuracy. In terms of pure velocity I would put Kaepernick is 1st. In terms of pure accuracy I would put Wilson is 1st Griff is very close because he can make some perfect passes but his ball location is inconsistent (often 'wild high'). Quick release I would put Griffin 1st. Touch(deep ball) tie between Griff & Russ. Running ability: Griff is the most dynamic, he's a threat to score on any carry. Kaep isn't far behind though. Russell isn't as fast but he's more then useful enough to make the read-option plays work. Griffin is by far the most reckless. Kaep and Russ imo have far better running instincts and awareness about when, where and how to uneccesary hits. Progression reading in a rhythm passing offense 3-5-7 step drop passing: Russell Wilson is head and shoulders the best imo. Griff & Kaep operate schemes that far more run-action based and often result in simple half field/hi-lo reads.
I would agree with all this. Welcome back 30gut Also would like to say I love when all the idoit talking heads miss bad on projections. Russell Wilson made a tonnnnnnn of people look bad this year. |

wasn't it kiper that said previous to the draft that wilson had no business even being IN the NFL??????? |
Re: Russel Wilson or Bob
something along the lines that he wouldn't be successfull at QB in the nfl or somethin
|
Kiper also said Jimmy Clausen was a sure lock franchise qb.....
|
Re: Russel Wilson or Bob
Wilson is a good game manager, but RGIII is a great leader with star power. i'd choose RGIII 10/10 times.
|
Re: Russel Wilson or Bob
Definitely RG3. If you keep Wilson in the pocket, he becomes very average.
|
Re: Russel Wilson or Bob
Russell Wilson has the highest qb rating since week 9 of last yr,higher than Peyton Manning, just something to think about
This was posted in another thread. RW is starting to look pretty good especially if we had gotten to keep our 3 first round. IDK 3 first round picks and RW vs. just RGIII. Looks like SEA has won so far. |
Re: Russel Wilson or Bob
if griff played with that D he would be just as great.

Remember when you answer would you rather RG or RW AND 3 first round picks. Disclaimer: Assuming we have to use our 2012 3rd round pick on RW that mean no Josh LeRibeus on this team; devastating. |
Re: Russel Wilson or Bob
I still think we will turn this around, I ain't worried about nuthin.
|
Re: Russel Wilson or Bob
Russell Wilson was never on our radar as a starter. If we didn't draft RG3 we still weren't looking at Wilson until the 3rd at the absolutely earliest. But more like the 4th or 5th. If we didn't draft RG3 we probably would have taken Tannehill

It is just a what if scenario.......I run them a ton at my work to figure out ROI's. Using hindsight as of 9-25-13 the better bet would have been RW plus 3 first rounders and a 2nd rounder vs. RG sans the picks. |
Re: Russel Wilson or Bob
Griffin was far better than Wilson when healthy last year. He'll also be better when we look at their careers at the end.
You can't solely judge a QB's ability by the number of wins his team has, there are other factors such as defenses that can help a less-talented QB win more. The Ravens proved this BOTH times they've won a Super Bowl. |

Re: Russel Wilson or Bob
We needed a qb desperately so at the time I was very happy with getting RG3.Theres no way to know if Wilson would have played as well with us as he has in seattle,so many different factors involved.
If you knew Wilson would have played as well with us has he has for seattle then its a no brainer, you draft him and keep your draft picks that we desperately needed to overcome the cap penalty. Add on top of that 2 knee surgeries for RG3 in 4 yrs and people are screaming "he needs to run more!!" I just do not see a healthy career in his future I hate to say it but I think RG3 is gonna be one of those guys we look back at and say "what if" |

They will use his pre-injury rookie season as the bench mark that he will never reach again. Hopefully we are wrong. |

Re: Russel Wilson or Bob
You cant just say anybody won after a year. You gotta look at the career and circumstances. But Russel Wilson is proven now. No question. RG3 is proven. But the challenges are different for both. Right now, if Seattle is not in the superbowl, its a failure. flat out failure. If RG3 doesnt play all 16 games or re injuries a knee, its a failure.

Re: Russel Wilson or Bob
i know, and yes you want the better QB regardless of the draft picks. Even put Luck in the equation...ceiling is still higher with RG3 over both Luck and Wilson.
objectively i think its luck over rg3 at this point in time. |

i have not gotten to watch a lot of wilson but a qbs particular success depends a lot on the surrounding cast and whether the offensive scheme is tailored to the qb's skill set ... just hard to take comparable qbs and say what qb is better in a vacuum bc the games and stats arent earned in a vacuum. i am disappointed rg3 is getting gently placed under the bus by a growing segment of skins fans. he is in year 2, after major reconstructive knee surgery . . . hes going to be here for a long long time and i have no doubt that given the right team we will win a superbowl with him under center. |
Re: Russel Wilson or Bob
Russell Wilson likely will go down as a draft day steal, but there was no way the Skins were picking him as their starter, so it's just not a valid what if. If there is one team that came away from that draft with a legitimate what if question it has to be the Browns.

How you think that I have no ideal? He's a 3rd round pick making rookie wage scale money in his 2nd yr,how is it a flat out failure? If you wanna say that about Peyton Manning and the Broncos, with all theyve invested in manning and the weapons surrounding him, then I'm with you I dont see it with Wilson. Why is it not a flat out failure if were not in the Superbowl? That's just crazy talk. RGIII can run for 100 yards and three touchdowns with two broken legs. |

Wilson is surrounded by a great team, an awesome defense, and a great home field advantage. Plus his front office isnt restrained by an almost 20 million dollar cap disadvantage and a Father/Son offense scheme who cant get on the same page. |

Maybe later this year would be a better time for this thread.. Right now comparing RGIII to anyone that he was in a peer group with last year is unfair. |

Bob

Re: Russel Wilson or Bob
I was one of the few that thought we overpaid...nearly got ran outta here too. I just don't see much of a difference between RG3 and Wilson, yet Wilson went in the 3rd round.

He didn't do himself any favors with all of his off season media stuff. We all love the guy, but this off season, just tone it down and work on your craft, work on being a better 3rd down passer...which we all know he'll do. I just hope he won't be learning a new offense. |

Who are their wr's? Sidney Rice? Golden Tate? I don't even know who their TE is. To me they just play well together, no real stars on that team, although Sherman has become a true shutdown corner. |

Not to mention RGIII outperformed Wilson, despite might mouse having a superiour defense; more compotent receivers; and a stable offensive line. |

And no Im not saying he is Tom Brady, but you know some guys thrive when they can make the players around them better. Wilson certainly isnt the tallest, with the biggest arm, but he is a leader. Side note, Patriots are 3-0 with nobody to throw the ball too. As much as I cant stand Brady and Hoody, that duo continues to amaze. |

You have a very negative view of RG3, and you constantly post your negative opinions about him. I'm certainly not talking about this thread in particular, but all over the WP. What's the point? I get that you don't like him, and although that's very stupid, everyone has a right to their opinions. But why are you constantly posting negative things about him? Are you trying to convince yourself of something? |
Re: Russel Wilson or Bob
I think you're confusing Firstdown with someone else
|
Re: Russel Wilson or Bob
The point is you get Wilson in the 3rd round. Luck and RGIII cost us 3 first rounders (to trade up to get them). Imagine you have Wilson and 3 more 1st rounders. I am asking is that better then having just RGIII.
2 first rounders. They just swapped positions the first year. |

Wilson had 4-5 more TD passes. |

If RW was drafted by the Browns I don't think this thread exists.
