5 years seems awful long. hope the length makes the cap hit super friendly.
word is it's voidable after year 2, not confirmed yet though |
Re: Official Redskins Free Agency Thread 2013
I like that we are working on locking up the offensive players that took us so far this year. Jax back in the fold is important, but the defense is going to need more outside help and that appears to be what we are trending towards.

Re: Official Redskins Free Agency Thread 2013
Well, I for one am liking the news trickling out of Redskins Park. I have a feeling we won't be making any big signings this year.
When was the last time we were NOT a player in free agency? |

One of the tweeters on the Redskinstweet page that is listed on page 4 of the thread (snide remarks was close to his name) stated that it was not a 2yr void able contract. I have no idea who he is or if he has good info. |

nothing is confirmed yet so we'll see |
I am just curious if people could name the Pierre Garcon of the available cornerbacks/safety, because my guess is we will bring in that guy along with a 2nd tier guy. I think these deals have been friendly enough that with the imminent release of Hall and FD likely resign, that is the only FA move we will make. Pretty sure we can structure a FA S/CB deal to be fairly cap friendly.

Re: Official Redskins Free Agency Thread 2013
Fred Davis has NOT re-signed with us. Ignore some fake twitter reports

Re: Official Redskins Free Agency Thread 2013
the only big-ish FA i'd like is fred davis back.
if we can swap morgan's money for a guy like brian hartline, i'd be all for that too. maybe cut hall and get sean smith? i don't know. this year the budget's tight in washington. |
Re: Official Redskins Free Agency Thread 2013
I would like Ryan Harris RT, no link.
|
per source tweeted by Rich Campbell
Long snapper Nick Sundberg and the Redskins have agreed in principle on a new four-year deal, source says. |

Morgan is tough as nail and we need that in this offense because we tend to ask our receivers to make some tough catches in middle of field with a safety running into them. |

..yeah I think you're right. Glad we're keeping back our guys. Heard Tandler saying that he doesn't think we'll keep Rocca. Interesting. |
Re: Official Redskins Free Agency Thread 2013
I love that we are locking up key guys on offense (our strength) and letting the defensive guys walk. We want Zo back but other than that all of the rest are rather easily replaceable.
With the return of injured players, some FA, and a good draft we are set to defend the East crown. |
Re: Official Redskins Free Agency Thread 2013
I think the guys that have re-signed probably got offers from other teams. The players probably came back to the redskins to give them the chance to match these offers. That's why most all of them happened on Saturday.
I think with the free agents that haven't agreed to re-sign yet, the redskins don't really mind losing them for the money that the players want. |

morgan makes too much for his production, and he's gone next year anyways, that's all i'm saying. (5mill this year, 10m ea the next 3 years, so it seems like the contract that was too big at the time, probably was/is). |

Morgan played with two torn ligaments and injured ankle that haven't recovered fully from his last year in 49ers. It's pretty difficult to play at the level Morgan did with those injuries. Morgan did not play lights out last season but I think we will see better version of him in upcoming season. Re: Official Redskins Free Agency Thread 2013
It's a little surprising that they haven't re-signed or restructured the contract for a defensive player other than Rob Jackson, particularly on the defensive line like Carriker and Chris Baker. And even Rob Jackson signed only a one year deal.
It's still early on, but this may signal that they may be shaking things up on the entire defensive unit. Previously, I thought that they would concentrate mostly on the secondary especially since they don't have a lot of cap space to work with because of the cap penalty. I would prefer that they pick up one of the oldies but goodies(Woodson, Reed, Adrian Wilson) at safety AND draft one of the best safeties in the draft. The young lion could learn from the veteran free agent and take over after he retires. |

We could bring in Woodson, have enough for WInston, and maybbe with a restructure or two, have a little bit left for one of the top 5 cbs in the FA class. But with the penalty, our hands are kind of tied behind our back. I have faith that Shanahan will make sweet cap lemonade out of the cap lemon the league handed him. My trust in the man has never been at a higher level. On top of that, If the last 10 games we saw the real Haslett, then our (pass) defense should improve 5-10 spots this year, maybe a couple more with Orakpo/Merriweather back. NFC East crown should remain in Washington, coutning on the timely return of RG3. (at least by game 3 or 4) |

No problem, 4 ints every season he has been in the league outside of one. Definitely worth a 4-5 year 25-30 million dollar contract |
Re: Official Redskins Free Agency Thread 2013
Haven't heard the numbers on Kory's deal yet but it doesn't void to 2 years like I thought. A little odd since Chris Foerster has been pretty open about Leribeus pushing to start this season.

SO what was the deal about Steelz tweet in regards to Chester? Is that legit that his knees are busted and they want him to take a pay cut? |

I didnt know you were connected at Redskins Park. i was assuming they'd restructure or cut/resign on the cheap. Are they ready to just part ways? |
Re: Official Redskins Free Agency Thread 2013
Releasing Moss, Carriker, or D Hall all are very plausible cuts. None are surprises
