Dez now out 8 to 12 weeks that's huge for the rest of the east. I still say philly wins it but it's a toss up

Im so sad for Dallas (not at all). Once Bradford goes down this division is gonna be up for grabs. I think our D looked better than any other in week one. We just have to come away with points on long drives n we will be rite in the mix all year. |
Re: Around the Nfl week 1
I actually thought Bradford looked like shit most of the game. Kind of like Cousins looking bad, his stat line made it look like he was Peyton in his prime. Was missing wide open people all night long. Drops didn't help, but I think he's a downgrade from Foles (and I can't believe I'm saying that).

He looked like shit in the first half, not in the second. Imo this is a result of him not having started a game in an awfully long time. He found his rhythm and was off to the races. If the guy stays healthy he is going to be a nightmare in that offense. Edit: also philly had zero run game which makes what bradford did in the second half even more special. What he did last night, on the road, with no run game, in his first game back in about two years was awesome. |

I was impressed by the Eagles RB's and by Tony Romo leading yet another late comeback. The Giants simply blew that game by making bone-headed decisions. |

Edit: also the Giants were completely outplayed. They were gifted two lucky deflected pics, and still lost. They were very very fortunate to be in that game at the end. Im 100% with chico - if this first week is any sign of how good the rest of the division is than we are totally in the mix. I still say that it depends on Bradford staying healthy - if he does the Birds are going to win it. |

Yes, you are. They look like the 49'ers regular unis were salvaged from the debris of a fire. |

The Eagles oline was very unimpressive. I thought the Eagles defense rebounded quite well in the second half. The Cowboys...folks why did the Cowboys win the division last year? Because they ran the ball and Romo passing attempts were like the lowest of his career. Also the Cowboys defense was better than expected meaning they were average...where they were suppose to be in the bottom of the league. The Cowboys will absolutely not be able to run the ball like they did last year. And that will be a major issue. The Giants are limited defensively. They have the worse D in our division, ergo they will struggle to be a .500 team. none of these teams were impressive out the gates...nor were we |

Shit we gave RG-3 every pass in the book for missing time, this guy misses two years than comes back and goes on the road on MNF (with absolutely zero helpfrom his run game) - and still almost pulls out a victory throwing for over 300 yards - no way im buying he played terrible or dont let his "bogus" stat line fool you. No way. If he stays healthy he will be amazing. But he probably wont. And i did watch the entire game not going buy statline i saw this morning. |

Re: Around the Nfl week 1
Did Bradford throw it downfield at all? At one point I heard the announcer say that 70% of all his passes in his career were under 10 yards. Maybe I misheard that. Maybe that's normal, but it just strikes me as a big number of dink an dunks. If you can compress the field on the Eagles, I would think that would make a big difference in teams playing them effectively.

He can throw it downfield but if you are dinking and dunking to the tune of 330 yards who cares? Still takes a certain skillset to do that AND move the ball consistently. He gets the ball out quick n makes quick reads I guess im in the minority but i think he can be one of the best if stays on the field. |
Re: Around the Nfl week 1
I'm with ya punch of course I have some bias but if healthy he can be a big time qb

Re: Around the Nfl week 1
Well, I found this from August 2014:
Bradford simply doesn’t throw deep. This chart reflects the numbers, which note that just 9.5 percent of his pass attempts last year traveled 20 yards or more in the air; of the 39 quarterbacks who threw at least 200 passes last season, 33 threw deep more frequently than Bradford. And when Bradford did throw deep, he was terrible; his 38.9 QBR on deep passes was 33rd in the league.
Deep Thoughts « "the chart" being referred to is imbedded in the article. Really interesting. I don't know nuthin' about nuthin' when it comes to Bradford. In terms of dink and dunk, certainly Kelly's offense is perfect for that sort of QB. At the same time, if you watched last night's game, you also saw some of the limitations of that skillset. |

I think the health issue is huge though. He was getting pounded every other drop back, or that was my impression. |
Re: Around the Nfl week 1
Bradford can only throw the ball so deep. He doesnt have the arm to throw bombs as he tends to hang them up there creating jump balls. What he does have is a very quick release and good accuracy under 20 yards. That accuracy might not have shown last night, but he was also playing his first game in a long time.
|
Re: Around the Nfl week 1
A quick release and good accuracy under 20 yards is a good thing - in Kelly's offense, a very good thing.
However, if he can't throw the deep ball effectively, I think that will be a huge problem for the Eagles in the long run. A dink and dunk offense, the type Kelly seems to want with Bradford, is similar to a run heavy offense that lacks a deep threat (you know, us right now) in that both cannot afford to get behind on down and distance. Sure, they made a come back last night but it fell apart b/c they simply dug themselves into a hole that demanded perfect execution to get them out of it. It only takes a couple of miscues either through unforced errors (bad / dropped passes) or a couple of stout defensive plays to derail the necessary perfection. |
Re: Around the Nfl week 1
one thing i did like to see was ole kyle shanny doing a good job last night. he caught alot of grief here, but i was more of a fan of him than his father. Think he is gonna do well with the Falcons. Ill be pulling for him.

I guess we will find out - i hope im wrong and he is not very good...trust me. |

missed the 49er vs vikings game last night...but I heard there was another show going on at the sametime: Chris Berman and Trent Dilfer's annual Monday Night Football cameo was a broadcasting horror show
lol...berman and dilfer both suck |
Re: Around the Nfl week 1
Berman is thee worst. Have been changing the channel on that idiot for years
|
Re: Around the Nfl week 1
Berman, for sure has jumped the shark. ESPN wheels him out rarely and it just seem he goes through the motions just hashing old catch phrases.
|
Re: Around the Nfl week 1
Yep Berman's act is old and tired and I hate how ESPN trots him out for all the "big event" type games.
What is even worse is when they throw him on playoff baseball telecasts. You think he is awful during football? Ugh. |
Re: Around the Nfl week 1
Don't see Bradford staying healthy the whole season. He's also not athletic enough for what chip wants to do IMO.
Having said that, skins still have no chance in this mediocre/open division. At the very least just have high compete level, be a bitch to play against and play close games. At least game 1 wasn't a blow out like some of the embarrassments we have seen recently |
Re: Around the Nfl week 1
that dumb fuck Triplette is the worst.
i still cant believe he didnt correct (1) the side ref who indicated 1st down; or (2) the play stick indicating 1st down in our 2 min drive against the giants a few years ago when he had it as being just short of a first and 3rd down. his excuse that he didnt want to stop to correct the error bc it would be giving us a timeout was utter POS garbage. i hate that man. fuck you jeff triplette. anyways .. this isnt really his fault, probably hard to tell in live time but he is involved in another questionable officiating snafu so i get to call him bad names, it makes me feel better. god i hate that dude.
