all the fans say they should have ran up the middle and the OC is an idiot. If he tried and Lynch doesn't score we'd have been hearing that everyone knew he'd run it and he shouldn't be so predictable.. |

Re: Giants Post Game Reactions
I wanted Gruden to coach all 16 and RG3 to start all 16. RG3 clearly has more potential and Cousins hasn't done enough to show him now is a better risk than what RG3 could be. Arm talent alone sets RG3 apart. He has a cannon.
That being said, I'd gladly take being wrong and Cousins being the better QB down the road once the roster is deeper and more competitive. I don't want another coach gone. Gruden should get at least 3 years, meanwhile SM keeps building a full roster. I'll take any answer to the QB position and I'll eat 10 lbs of black crow to get that answer. I think you would see a more efficient and more disciplined team. And come on with the Reed needing to sell the play..that was a clear pick. Lol I agree with the under throw to Reed, drops by Roberts(why is he playing...coaching decision), and the fumble by jones...that's on the players. BUT Couple of those Ints are on by gruden because he put him in a poor situation/call which is asking too much of cousins ability. |

I think it's gonna be hard for Ross to get reps once DJax comes back. I feel like the depth chart would look something like DJax, Garcon, and then the slot being Roberts/Crowder then Grant. With Scotty and Gruden being very "what have you done for me lately" oriented, Roberts has been inconsistent at best and with young, hungry guys that can produce in the wings, I don't get why he's still here. But it probably helps Roberts chances that he is a Gruden guy and not leftovers from the Shanahan era. |
the game went like i thought it might..the stuff that bothered me was the blocked punt..that was pathetic blocking! you can say what you want But every bounce went the giants way..breeland was in good position on several of those td catches it was almost like nothing was gonna go the skins way..how about the onside kicks..they misplayed both and still we could not get a break..Jones fumbles crossing the goal ..it was hard to watch! The Skins fought ..bottom line is simple,We are not good enough to give away anything and we need to take advantage of every blunder the other team makes. last night the opposite happened.
I could have not said it better bro. I had the same observations. The fumble by Jones reminded me of the RG3 dive in the end zone last season when the ball came out and we got hosed. We can't catch a break in New York. |

You think they are falling off trees? Franchise QB's don't come around every year. In fact they don't always have to be in the 1st round. See Tom Brady 6th rd and Russell Wilson 3rd. Sometimes a franchise can luck up and get one. Make no mistake we haven't had franchise QB since Joe T. Joe Gibbs won with 3 different QB's and not one of them was a franchise QB. |

So where did J fail you ask? (1) gameplan....IF our identity is gonna be run focused then we actually need to commit to running the ball. Against the Giants we did not. We did not follow the gameplan that brought success vs the Rams. We followed a gameplan where Kirk was asked to pass the ball too much, thus placing Kirk in position to fail...which he did. Our strength right now is not the passing but the running game....the OL Trent, Scherff, Moses, Alf and Matt Jones. (2) Personnel and prep punt return unit. The Gints identified a weakness in our punt protection and exploited it. J had a newly active LB (Plummer) in a key position on punt protect and he failed. (3) Refusal to run the ball on 3rd and 2. Going deep on 3rd and 2. Inefficient. (4) On a key short yardage conversion attempt using Carrier (who we know is not a proven run blocker) to block the POA as opposed to McCoy (a known effective run blocker). (5) Targeting Roberts, known to have drop issues last year and displayed those same issues already...Parcells? I believe said think players not plays when it comes to key situations...i.e I could go on but its late i'm tired but you get the idea....I am not saying the whole game was on J. But since YOU asked for areas where he failed there are some. HTTR |

Re: Giants Post Game Reactions
Fans only consider committing to the run as running on every down, every play.
The split was almost 50/50 run to pass in the first half. That's not bad considering we couldn't get any short fields or turnovers. While trailing by 2 scores most the game. Gruden wants to commit to the run, but any logical person could tell last night that wasn't going to happen for very long. We lost our starting LG. Rib was getting destroyed all night. No Turnovers Trailing by two scores for 90% of the game Lost starting LG. Facing the #3 ranked run defense and 31st pass defense Lost time of possession Only had 2 days of practice. Penalties Also... Our BEST starting field position of the night was the 28 yard line. Think about that. Think about it hard. We can't afford to run the ball 25 times a game and run off 12 minutes of the clock on a drive when we have to go 80 yards every drive while down by NOT 1, but 2 scores. Oh and did I mention our defense couldn't get off the field? The first drive of the 3rd Quarter took 8 minutes off the clock. 8 fucking minutes! Still down by two scores I might add. So no... We couldn't afford to run 50 times yesterday because we didn't do the things needed by the rest of the fucking TEAM. To be able to run the football. I'm more pissed about why we are only rushing 4 down while having our DB play 8 yards off the line. Makes no sense. Eli just played catch with his WR down the field eating clock. I believe he started the game 10/10!!! Barry made no fucking adjustment. Even when Breeland was struggling. Breeland was targeted last night for 9 catches and 160yards!!!!!! Yet you don't play to Culliver and Breeland strength and jam the WR because you are protecting your safeties. I just think it's going to be a long season for the Defense if we can't seem to get pressure with 4. Or if we play like we did last night. So please... Stop with the commitment to the run bullshit. You can't do it when you can't get off the field as a defense, and force shorter fields while down 2 or more scores. I was actually impressed that the coaches gameplanning on a short week to exploit the Giants weakness which is the secondary. It just sucks Kirk had a bad game and couldn't hit a few throws that should of been touchdowns. He makes 1 or those throws and you see the running numbers a little higher. |

I love how "commitment to run" is bullshit. We didn't start the game down 2 scores. You don't have to stop running even if you're down 2 scores. Running the ball actually helps an OL. Running the ball actually helps the defense. You can be happy with a gameplan that gives the team's best weapon on offense 6 carries, I'm not. |
Re: Giants Post Game Reactions
My reaction - Starting with poor field possession, we went steadily downhill. The game was over from the beginning. Injuries galore and poor play - looks like this will be another stinko year. There have been so many bad years. When will this nightmare end?
|
Re: Giants Post Game Reactions
i do think we stopped trying to run too early last game. you can be down 9 points and still run when there's 45 minutes left in the game. I don't know if they moved off it cause of the gameplan/giants D, because of the OL injuries, because of audibles at the line taking them out of run plays, or because J felt like chucking it. it's hard to tell from the outside.
