Re: Kirk Cousins 24/7 thread
Hijinx, Schneed happens to be right on this matter, but don't let his tone or attack bother you. It's just his style.
We're all fans here guys. No need for the hating. :) Kirk can continue to negotiate with the team on a long term deal, just not anybody else at this point. (the moment he signs that is) |

In short: Schneed is an ass and we are his enablers because we find him amusing.

Re: Kirk Cousins 24/7 thread
Joe is right, I'm an ass. That's the persona I take on around here. Punch don't worry I wasn't on tilt; I take on the troll persona when trying to enforce quality discussion for the knowledgeable Redskins fan.
And Hijinx I have no hard feelings to you; I guess starting the name calling thing wasn't a great move, but I honestly didn't think calling someone a 'panicky little ninny' would be a big deal or get under anybody's skin. It's kind of a goofy thing to call somebody, I thought the playful nature of it would stand on its own. But yes we are all Skins fans here. Like Hijinx, let's say hypothetically that over on a Cowboys or Eagles board one of those turds posted a link to this thread and said "hey guys, check out this discussion on this Redskins board The Warpath, this guy Schneed is completely annihilating this guy Hijinx with his immense knowledge of the franchise tag, salary cap, and CBA. Come watch, it's hysterical." Well as soon as those assholes showed up I'd tear into them and defend you, because you're a Redskins fan and we're all family here. :D As for Cousins, many of us have been strong voices in the "Chill the F Out" camp, the strongest of which have been me and Matty. I think if you understand the relationship between Cousins and McVay, and between Cousins and Gruden, and the fit that Cousins has within this offense, then it was plain as day to see that Cousins does not want to be anywhere else. I maintain my prediction: they'll come to a long term agreement before Week 1. Maybe Cousins comes down a little bit in his demands because he knows there's no place he'd rather be than here with Gruden and McVay. Or maybe the Redskins see how Cousins works and how he progresses throughout OTAs, and become more confident in committing big money for the long haul. Either way, both sides want each other, quite badly. That's the only read on the situation you can possibly have. And we should celebrate for it. HTTR |

The Washington Redskins won't have to worry about the possibility that Kirk Cousins will miss offseason work as a protest against the franchise tag. Cousins accepted the organization's franchise tender on Wednesday, per agent Mike McCartney. The quarterback will officially sign Thursday morning, NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported. Once the tender is signed, Cousins will forfeit the right to negotiate with any team willing to consider the possibility of giving up two first-round draft picks in an effort to pry the former Michigan State star away from the Redskins.
Whiskey Fox Trot ..... i REALLY wanted Cousins to be able to negotiate with other teams bc I though it would help convince him to come down off his number. Oh well, he's happy, im happy. Now the the only waiting game is to see how high of a ranking Cousins gets w Madden '17. |

Perhaps that would temper Team Cousins demands a bit. Good point that the Skins FO probably would not be privy to any contract talks w other teams. Re: Kirk Cousins 24/7 thread
Mike Florio posted an article about how KC should boycott the offseason program to force a long term deal. Does anybody know why he hates the Redskins?
|
Re: Kirk Cousins 24/7 thread
yeah, i don't think you can prove that you're a leader worth investing big money in by staying home and crying about it. not to mention that's going to end up making him look bad when he gets on the field with a 100% cold start.
i'm sure kirk will be here and show that he's committed to being the best he can be. you're talking about a guy that hired his own qb coach, and then went to train with the other gruden in the offseason on his own dime. that doesn't sound like the kind of guy that's going to stay home when he's finally been recognized as the leader of the team. florio's just being dumb. |
Mike Florio posted an article about how KC should boycott the offseason program to force a long term deal. Does anybody know why he hates the Redskins?
That proves he knows nothing about football culture and how locker rooms work. So, you're a QB who just finally won the starting job, you worked hard, and just began to become a bit of a leader after having shaky body language and shaky confidence in your first three years in the league. You do well down the stretch, lead your team to a playoff appearance, and earn lots of respect. So instead of working to cement your position as leader in the locker room and really take the reins of the organization, Florio says nah boycott it. Don't work out with your teammates. Don't spend time doing the grunt work with them to get the offense down, the timing right. That will surely earn your place as the leader of the team - being a me guy to get your way. Idiot. Why do you guys even bother reading anything he says, there are so many better writers you can go with. |
Re: Kirk Cousins 24/7 thread
Florio is just a dick. If KC actually did what he suggests he would totally blast him for it.

Re: Kirk Cousins 24/7 thread
Only thing that has gotten my goat are all of these stupid fans from other teams that are repeating the same damn thing over and over again: "Kirk doesn't deserve a big contract, he didn't beat any teams with a winning record!" Blah, blah blah blah, fuckin' blah! You point out his stats and they say, "Those stats were against puny teams!" WTF????
Truth is, one of two things will happen next year. These fans will be eating crow, or they'll be even worse on Cousins if Kirk doesn't start out strong or beat any winning teams. And if the 'skins get rid of him, then they'll want him just like they're wanting RGIII now! |

I think we certainly have. Im more worried about the defense than anything. Give KC a defense that can keep him on the field and from playing behind alot and the dude can be an assassin. |

So can Rex Grossman... Went to a SB as the starting QB on a defensive dominant team. So can Trent Dilfer... Won a SB as the starting QB on a defensive dominant team. For that matter... So can RG3... Won a division as a starting QB where our defense was flat out horrible (a whole lot worse than KC dealt with this year).. Saying a QB can win with a dominant defense is like saying a dime is worth 10 cents. Its a Captain Obvious statement. |
