I would like the Skins to sign Reggie Nelson to a short-term deal.
I'd also like to see a deal get done with Junior Gallette. Junior is wacky but he can rush the passer. Beyond those two, I don't know. Perhaps Prince Amukamura could help us. I'm really not expecting the Skins to achieve much in FA with all of the mad money some teams are throwing around. It's hard for a team to sign the FA's they would like to have and still be able to stay the course cap-wise and financially.
I am confident they will get a deal done with Junior Gallette. |
So far I'm liking this building up the D ,now we need a good couple of linebackers.
I would be willing to bet that it won't work out. Total sign of desperation. We know better than anyone that going out and getting a bunch of free agents doesn't work. |
Re: Redskins Free Agency 2016
Im happy with our signings thus far. Going after our own guys and getting reasonable contracts. Im sure we'll add a few players here and there. I would like us to try to get Gilette back, but I agree his posts on twitter and the like have been silly. Someone asked if he'd take 3 years 12M and he scoffed. He hasn't played in two years and thinks he deserves more? I'd consider a contract full of incentives - prove you're back to playing form and you get the money!
Reese in NY is signing FAs like his job depends on it. Well, it most likely does. They've gotten some big name players. I think as skins fans we know how bringing in that many vets is difficult for continuity. It'll be an interesting year but I like our strategy.
Me too! This is what us Redskins fans have been asking for for years now. |

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports free agent Vernon Davis is visiting the Redskins on Thursday.
Redskins GM Scot McCloughan drafted Davis in San Francisco, but this is not a great fit. yuck. guy was terrible with the Broncos. Hope we pass |
Re: Redskins Free Agency 2016
He could add some depth though

Re: Redskins Free Agency 2016
I'm a little worried about not filling the holes we created with not resigning Hatch and Knight. But maybe they'll come back for less after testing the market if we don't sign upgrades/replacements.
I like Reggie Nelson but would much rather address DL,LB and CB with the most resources. |

He was specifically brought in to help improve it...he, by all accounts, was a major disappointment. |
Re: Redskins Free Agency 2016
Vernon Davis at the NFL minimum, no guaranteed money, otherwise no thanks
Reggie Nelson at the right price would be a big addition . DL in the draft.... Hatcher and Knighton are not coming back. |

As for Hatcher, I think the Skins should try to get younger at his position. The Skins should be able to address both positions with other players either in FA or in the draft. A FA CB would be nice. There are a couple of decent ones still available. I don't see any FA OLB who excites me as a fan, other than our own Junior Galette. Inside LB can be addressed in the draft. |

People are acting as if Vernon Davis would be asked to be the primary tight end.

Keenan Robinson signed w/ Giants. I would have liked Key to get another chance at adapting to Barry 1 gap 34 but c'est la vie. Good luck KRob

Hard player to figure out. Got the speed to go sideline to sideline and can hit. But never struck me as the brightest, nothing like Pierce who made his living on reading and diagnosing the play. Robinson lost his job to Will Compton for that reason. One good year for the skins, one disappointing year, and the rest marred by injury. There's upside there but he shouldn't be considered much more than depth, hopefully for your sake they didn't pay too much. |

32 years old is what I see and coming off a less than stellar year. I personally would rather see us develop younger players who are less expensive & have a higher upside. |

Yep, Gresham is 4 years younger. One telling thing about this is that Scott McL had Davis in San Fran. Gruden had Gresham in Cincy. I don't remember hearing anything bad about Gresham before, so maybe it's just an expected dollar amount needed to sign a back up. But I'm with you...I would take Gresham over Davis at this point. This could all be a moot point if Niles comes back healthy. |

Isn't that exactly what it was last year? I feel 99% of our d line upgrades are gonna come from the draft |
Re: Redskins Free Agency 2016
Just read this on CSN, of the 21 draft picks from the 2011 and 2012 draft, only Ryan Kerrigan and Kirk Cousins are still with the team.
That's not a good thing. |

there is no guaranteed money, no cost if they cut him... if plan A, B, and C fail he makes the team at the NFL minimum |
Kendall Reyes, DE for the San Diego Chargers at NFL.com
San Diego Chargers Edit When the Chargers drafted him with the 49th overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, Reyes became Nashua High School North’s first NFL draft pick and the first player from Nashua to be drafted since the Cincinnati Bengals selected tackle Herb Webster in the fifth round of the 1988 NFL Draft. He was also the highest drafted defensive lineman in school history.[6] In his rookie season, Reyes led the Chargers’ defensive line with 19 quarterback pressures and 15 quarterback hits, and he finished the year third on the team with 5.5 sacks and nine tackles for loss. He recorded his first two NFL sacks against future Hall of Fame quarterback Peyton Manning and on Dec. 23 during a road win against the New York Jets, racked up 3.5 sacks, the most by a Chargers rookie in 26 years. Reyes closed out his initial campaign by earning All-Rookie honors from ESPN.com.[7] In 2013, Reyes was named starter right next to Corey Liuget on the defensive line. Reyes went on to play all 16 games as a starter and managed to collect 34 tackles, 5 sacks, and 2 passes defended. |
Re: Redskins Free Agency 2016
Sorry, I just woke up.....the 'skins actually signed someone?
|
Re: Redskins Free Agency 2016
Just watched a few highlights of Reyes. Very big guy, 6'4" and 300 pounds, fits the mold of big and physical that McC likes.
I'm sure we're not done at D Line but he has been a starter for three years, you could see him taking Hatcher's spot, or letting Ricky Jean come into Hatcher's starting spot and having Reyes as the 4th man in the rotation. I'd still like to see the big beefy guy for the NT spot. That could easily come from our 1st rounder. Baker could move to the nose but that'd be a bit of a shame because I really liked how disruptive he was from the end position. |
Re: Redskins Free Agency 2016
Reyes was the 49th pick in the 2012 draft.

Re: Redskins Free Agency 2016
Skins have spoken with free agents CB Casey Heyward and Center S.Wisniewski
|
Re: Redskins Free Agency 2016
I'd have no problem with Casey Heyward, he's been a solid nickel his career
|
Re: Redskins Free Agency 2016
Heyward excites me greatly. Good young player in a stacked Packers secondary.
Wisniewski, whatever. But I guess anything that gives Steiger a chase is worth a look. |

Starter. He took more snaps at CB than any other Packer last year. |
