Which act is that? Because I'm not wearing my troll hat at the moment, I'm wearing my basic common sense hat. If you won't turn off the games then you don't really care that much. It's a basic economic decision - you're saying I don't like that they signed a child abuser but I still want to watch the games, ergo you care more about enjoying your Sunday than you do about taking a stand on child abuse.

It's OK, I feel the exact same way. I'm just willing to tell you that's how it is for me. I guess it takes others a while longer to come around to what they see in the mirror.

Several of AP runs last night got me really excited. I’ve been asking for a vet RB in free agency for the last couple years..not necessarily a big time signing but an experienced complement.

Rob Kelly could have never made those runs to the outside. I think an AP/ Perine backfield with CT on third down is best case scenario.

calia 08-25-2018 09:30 AM

Re: Redskins Signing Adrian Peterson

After watching AP, I thought to myself that Kelley is going to get cut. His preseason numbers are awful, and I could see Gruden going with AP, Perine, CT and Marshall or Bibbs (the latter two having more apparent upside than Kelley).

Kelly is terrible. AP has much more natural talent, even at this age.
Looks like AP has plenty left, he was impressive
Yea, he runs like a 24 year old.

The big issue is his body, from week to week, will recover like a 33 year old.

I'm optimistic, but also realistic.

Hopefully Peterson can handle 15-20 carries per game, Perine can handle 10-15 carries per game, and we can get CT the ball 5-10 times a game (thru runs or passes).

If he can get us 11 carries a game like that we should be fine

I wouldn't be so sure about that. It's a long season. 11 carries in a pre season game isn't much to go on. But he looked pretty good.

skinsfan69 08-25-2018 09:50 PM

Re: Redskins Signing Adrian Peterson

Kelley is good for getting 2 or 3 yards when you need it. But that's really it. If he was our starter he'd never have runs over 10 yards.

That sounds like the ticket to me. If we don't limit AP's carries, his effectiveness is probably going to diminish as it did last season. I hope he'll be able to accept a reduced role for the good of the team. To me, Perine looks much improved. He should be able to handle some of the load.

Kelley is good for 2-3 yards but not necessarily when you need it.

I would rather run AP into the ground, then use Perrine if needed. AP looks to be in good shape, hasn't had a ton of on field work, and right now looks to gives us the best chance to win every week. If Perrine gets healthy and beats him out then let Perrine start, but splitting carries is going to tick them both off, in an unproductive way.

15 carries a game would be 240 for the season. That would have been tied for 11th highest based on last years stats.

Ok, my point is I don't want a running back by committee. I want either AP or Perrine to be the guy, and right now, I think AP is a better option to start the season.

I also think if we do running back by committee, AP will be less manageable, he wants to "be the guy" or at least the chance to be.

Obviously CT is the 3rd down back always while healthy.

I agree with this.
We need our best players to play.
I don't want to see anyone on a pitch count.

We need to win game.

If he can remain effective over 16 games getting the ball 25-30 times a game, I'm all for it, but I don't see that happening considering his age and running style.

Gruden won’t give it to anybody 25-30 times so no worries there.

Yeah I'm most likely living in a unicorns and rainbows world even thinking 20 carries is a possibility. Let alone 25+.

A man can dream tho lol.

Preach

We could have fuckin Gurley back there and we are still throwing 3 yard passes to Vernon fuckin Davis

That's when we need 4 yards. If we need 3, Vernon gives us 2.

Gibbs learned, once he saw Riggo run. I believe Gruden just has never had a ball carrier that convinced him he could go 25+ and be that guy.

We certainly haven't had one even close to it on any of these teams. Maybe AP opens Gruden's eyes and paves the way for Guice.

The strength of the offense is still going to be the passing game. I know some people will scoff but the league rules are set up to benefit the pass, and Gruden knows how to design and run a quality passing game and get the most out of his QBs. Peterson can definitely be a nice piece but if anyone is yearning for the days of 3 yards and a cloud of dust it's not happening.

Yeah, I'm not worried about the passing game. Alex and Gruden have already shown they'll produce there. But I really do hope that as a team we average 20+ carries a game.

I want 4.3 yards, a cloud of beautifully setup playaction passes, and some deep passes raining down to Doctson/Richardson.

Crowder and the TE's will see most of the action in the pass game, Smith loves the MOF. Doc will probably lead the team in TD's but not close in catches.

Doctson will probably lead the team only in games lost due to minor injuries.

If someone is on IR when the team wins the superbowl, is he still counted as Super Bowl Champion and gets a ring?

Just wondering when I may be rooting again for the team - which I will not until he is gone.
