Re: WTF @ Bills post game thread
The team's performance through the first three games has been abysmal and we were lucky to escape the Giants game with a win. That said the season is dynamic, things change as it goes. I still fully expect the defense to get it figured out, and consistent with Rivera's pattern over his coaching career, get better as the season goes along.
I just hope we're not out of it before it can even make a difference. Dallas looks pretty strong, we'll need to be within striking distance for the divisional stretch at the end. |
Re: WTF @ Bills post game thread
Another bad loss or two and I can see this season getting really ugly. Like top 5 pick kind of ugly. ATL is going to be code red.
If people can bitch and whine about this loss being the end of the world, let us complain about the bad officiating.
You can agree that both the team sucked and lost this game in a bad way, AND officiating in the first half was pretty atrocious. They are not mutually exclusive.
I don't think officiating was atrocious. I think there were a couple of questionable calls like in every single game. I don't think it affected the game that much. Envoyé de mon SHV48 en utilisant Tapatalk |

Right. And and I think after 30 years of mostly bullshit we have earned the right to make that choice without being called fair weather fans. Lol. Not saying anyone called anybody else that but that is usually the case with fans who are only engaged when their team is good. I am a Yankees fan. I stay engaged until the end every year because they are always competitive. I am a Sixers fan and a Flyers fan too - they both have longer championship droughts than the WTF but they are pretty much consistently competitive so I stay engaged. This team has to give me two years of not being a train wreck at the very least and I have a hard time considering 7-9 as counting! When was the last time we were relevant for two consecutive years? |
Re: WTF @ Bills post game thread
I'm a washington fan, as well as phillies, and flyers. I've had a rough go of it for quite a while now. Tha pandemic tournament style playoffs were the only real glimmer of hope I've had for any of my teams in a while. Sure, washington made the playoffs last year..but at 7-9 we (obviously) weren't going anywhere.
This year feels so lost. Washington has totally lost their identity. We knew what they were becoming, albeit a few years away....but now it's unknown how close or far we are from having any kind of competitive team. We are not a defensive team. We are not an offensive team. We have a fantastic punter. Egh. Double egh. |

mark bullock highlights some plays. Ereck Flowers is playing well. I didnt think he could be a good guard in space, asking him to do pulls etc but the big man is athletic. Pretty sure it was him throwing blocks way down field on that Gibson screen to the house. |

Lol. Slapshots to the mask are fine, still goes down as a save. And Dave Schultz, aka The Hammer, had a punch that makes Lafrates slapshot look slow. |

Definitely didn’t need to do that BUT I still think the tribute was cool and Flyer fans don’t really care who you beat up as long as you beat someone up. And why did Holtby start skating towards the action? He should have stayed in his crease. |

I have the NFL Game Pass International and could watch any game I want. But even when WFT plays on Sunday afternoon (19:00 here) I choose the Red Zone Channel. Over the crappy performances I would see mixed with commercials for stuff that is completely irrelevant to me anyway I prefer commercial-free football from all stadiums. |

[B]And why did Holtby start skating towards the action? Holtby was obviously not a willing participant - just wanted to be there in case a teammate needed help or something. Emery made a punk move. |

Oh he just wanted to be there for something? Stay in the crease, have some water and watch. You leave the crease you are opening yourself up. And honestly where were the Caps to get in the way? That is who I would have a problem with. Not coming to his defense. Anyway Emery was a Flyer for a hot minute and he stunk. Never was a fan. Also yeah Emery should have just laughed at him. I just know if i was Holtby I am staying in the crease and not even thinking about leaving the crease. You cannot be an unwilling participant AND be there to help in a fight. Holtby also threw the first punch. Maybe he was just going down to hold him in check and make sure he wasn’t getting involved. |

Insane. Staying in the crease doesn't guarantee you immunity either. Emery went looking for a fight and he took it. And finally - it was a line brawl. Everybody was fighting, hence why nobody came to protect Holtby. |

Holtby throws a punch. Emery was not lunging at him. Anyway like I said im not a fan of either guy. Holtby because he owned us. Emery because he stunk. I guess this is what happens in post game threads when we get beat down. Lol |
Re: WTF @ Bills post game thread
Ok Ill take the L on defending Emery. I am doing it because I detest the Caps not because I like Emery. There is a small window of defense for what he did but ill take the L. As far as his teammates not defending him they absolutely could have.

If you gotta grow a zen garden to be an all time Caps great so be it. @AnonEmouse: Sorry, we can get back to breaking down the ingredients from last week's turd sandwich now. If Jack Del Rio was a condiment - he'd be mayo. Discuss. |

First, wtf. Secondly I didn't mean mayo in a bad way. I use mayo judiciously, put a little on my chicken sammies or on sammies in general. But it's a plain flavor - you need to add some spice to make it interesting. Jack Del Rio could be better - if he was like a chipotle mayo, or a garlic aioli mayo - but he's not. He's lacking in creativity so far this season. |
