I wouldn't worry about completion %. To me that is the most useless QB stat. Pickett throws the ball downfield. He isn't throwing 15 wr screens a game like a lot of these college Qb's. |

Bullshit. Turner and Zampese, both gifted jobs from daddy’s contacts, will give Snyder a scouting report of veteran QB available. Mayhew and Hurney will give Dan a scouting report of draft able QBs. Dan will be deciding on who they get. My source? 2+ decades of offseason bullshit with this team. |
Re: The Too Soon 2022 NFL Draft Thread
Can’t start next year with Taylor or Allen under center … Wilson,Carr,Rogers, watson( lots of baggage) ..or roll dice on Rookie ? .. I would trade for Carr and pickup a rookie in mid rounds ..

Sending our first round pick…a top 10…and 2023 2nd rounder would probably do it for Russ Wilson. Out competition would be from in our own division like Philly or Gaints My redline are the new benches…fuck that. Those are untouchable, immediate phone hang up |
Re: The Too Soon 2022 NFL Draft Thread
We're the only team in the NFL with 6 wins. Picking 9th as of right now.

Re: The Too Soon 2022 NFL Draft Thread
our strength of schedule will hurt in terms of draft position, seems to be greater than the teams above

Re: The Too Soon 2022 NFL Draft Thread
I don’t want Carr he’s been in the league for years and hasn’t done much. Good guy and gamer but we have had that with Smith, Heineke etc.
Watson won’t come to Washington he’s already said so. Rodgers? Lmao that’s a pipe dream It’s basically a rookie or some how a miracle Russel Wilson comes. (Highly doubtful) The best Free agent is Winston. I’d take him at the last resort |

Good to know about throwing down field. Agree with completion % I just know that no QB ever ends up with a higher % at the pros than college so you kind of get what you get |

He has already lost a year. Miami may not be an option anymore cause Tua is starting play his best ball. Eagles are the obvious choice cause they have so much draft capital and Hurts sucks. |

I am not sure they are ready to move on from Hurts. They would rather play an injured Hurts than a healthy Minschew. That said you would be dumb not to upgrade to Watson over Hurts assuming it is risk tolerant |

If all you have to go on is Cam Newton and Matthew Stafford, that is pretty thin. We don't have the first pick in the draft and neither of those guys has done anything to speak of on a consistent basis anyway. Picking the number one consensus quarterback with the first pick doesn't take much football IQ, quite the opposite when you look at the results over the years. |

That's a fine argument, but conversely, what evidence is there that this front office, including Ron, is incapable of drafting/developing good quarterbacks? Cam Newton and Matthew Stafford is all we have to go on. There are plenty of examples of number one consensus quarterbacks failing in the NFL. The only two we have to go on did not fail. Here in Washington they inherited Smith coming off a devastating injury, and Haskins who was a lost cause. They got rid of Haskins in year 1, something maybe a lot of Coaches/Front Offices might not have done so quickly - who knows. Smith retired. They have yet to draft a QB for development here. They attempted to bring in a capable Veteran as a stop gap this year, and he was hurt in the first quarter of the first game. Allen is a backup, Heinicke is a backup, and are only playing because Fitz got hurt. The 2021 plan didn't work - I'll give you that. Does that make it a bad plan? Not in my opinion since the main contributor to the plan failing was the unexpected injury to Fitz. Since they did make a play for Stafford, and were rumored to be in discussions with regard to other quality Veteran QBs, you can't say they didn't try to go that route. So the last thing is maybe they should have drafted a QB. Well, none of the QBs drafted in 2021 are exactly lighting up the league right now. Maybe they weren't enamored with any of the 2021 draft options at QB - especially considering the cost to move up to get them. The team needs a QB - there is no debating that. I do think they have tried to do something about that, but have perhaps been unwilling to pony up what it is going to cost to get one. Maybe this year has done enough to convince them otherwise. We will see this offseason. But I don't think there is any evidence to suggest that this front office, including Ron, is incapable of drafting/developing good quarterbacks. |
Re: The Too Soon 2022 NFL Draft Thread
Who are some of the Qb that will be available what will it take to get them.
Aaron Rogers Deshawn Watson Russell Wilson David Carr Marcus Marrota Jamies Watson Baker Mayfield Kirk Cousin Mitch Trubisky Jimmy Garofalo These are the names I came up with. I think you go after Watson. I know all the problems but he fits exactly what we need in playing style. If not him I think Baker Mayfield may be the happy medium we need. He can throw well and can run alittle. On the cheap bring Marcus Marrota in see what he can do you would have him to compete with Henike. |
Re: The Too Soon 2022 NFL Draft Thread
Heinicke can compete for the backup position next year. He should not be competing for QB1. That option has run its course.

Re: The Too Soon 2022 NFL Draft Thread
I agree but who do we go after and what does it take to get them. I think we should look at possible trading some of defensive line we probably can't sign them all.
|
Re: The Too Soon 2022 NFL Draft Thread
Enough with dicking around with journeymen and retreads. Get a stud veteran no matter what it takes, or a blue chip draft pick, again no matter what it takes. Year 3 of Ron can't start with the QB issue up in the air again.
|
Re: The Too Soon 2022 NFL Draft Thread
DRAFT A QB!!! We ain't getting an elite veteran and I agree, no veteran mediocre retread.
|
Re: The Too Soon 2022 NFL Draft Thread
Problem with drafting is we are not very good at it especially QB . Get Watson send them a combination of some of are defensive linemen and a 1rd pick. I also think mayfield is worth a look been hurt all year. Are first round pick may be enough.
What would you give up for Watson if you could get him to come here. Would be willing.to give up Sweat, Young, and a first round pick. |

I don't think you can let missing before effect drafting any position in the future. Depending on Watson's legal resolution, what the Texans want for him, and how much it costs to extend him, I'd be down with getting him. But a lot of things would have to work out for it to happen. Don't see it being feasible. |
Re: The Too Soon 2022 NFL Draft Thread
I agree Watson would be very expensive. That why I think mayfield is way to go. He is similar to Henike can throw the ball along better and probably will not break the bank to get. He would be an upgrade by far not prefect but I think you can win with him.

Agree. Enough with this Bs. They know the QB position is the top need once again! Time to address it. |
Re: The Too Soon 2022 NFL Draft Thread
Aaron Rodgers is having a career year and is having fun . He ain’t leaving GB
|
Re: The Too Soon 2022 NFL Draft Thread
If we're in the market for trading, and anyone worthwhile would actually come here, I'd say the only 2 choices are Watson and Wilson. I just don't see either coming here with the state of the franchise, at least not for stupid amounts of draft capital. Without a solid OL, running game and WR's I can't see them being easily tempted. And it's not like we can sell them on the D keeping us in games.
Beyond that if you are looking at the likes of Mayfield or Carr, I think we can all see the ceiling involved. Would you really give up possibly a lot of draft capital for a guy you can't rely on to put the team on his back? May as well use the picks you have to go for a guy in the draft. And again next year and so on if needs be. |

If you want to fix it for 2022 then a stud vet is the only option (there are no blue chippers in the 2022 draft) - Question why do we have to fix things now? Now has always been the mistake the Redskins have made. It has to be done now is what has locked us in the basement going on 30 years. How about trading down and building draft capital for 2023 and beyond? The 2022 draft has been assessed as one of the weaker classes across the board so it is an excellent year to trade out for future picks. Heresy I know but I have been saying that for years but the now crowd always won. |
Re: The Too Soon 2022 NFL Draft Thread
That true about fixing things I know we are on 5 year plan. I think you go M Marrota then. You still need to bring in a vet QB in to compete.
|
Re: The Too Soon 2022 NFL Draft Thread
In a supposed weak draft class why would teams be interested in trading up?
|
Re: The Too Soon 2022 NFL Draft Thread
I’d put Matt Ryan on the list. I think he would cost less than Tuggy Watson and Russ

Re: The Too Soon 2022 NFL Draft Thread
Guys like Mariota, meh
He's in the same category as Heinicke and Allen, guys just good enough to make you realize you still need a long term solution |
Re: The Too Soon 2022 NFL Draft Thread
I forgot Matt Ryan put him on list. Marrota is only of if we draft a rookie. I still think we need someone to compete with Henike if we can't get anyone else. I also would like to go veteran. I think if we got a tier up up in qbs we would have maybe won 2nor 3 more games. Defense was not good but in some situations are offense did not help. Example Kc game I think we had one 1st down in second half. Two other example.would be green bay and Dever game.

Re: The Too Soon 2022 NFL Draft Thread
Keep swinging big until you hit one out of the park.
|
Re: The Too Soon 2022 NFL Draft Thread
My preference would be Russ, he would be perfect for Ron
|
Re: The Too Soon 2022 NFL Draft Thread
Another major problem for us is what we have to trade. Are main competitors NYG and PHL have multiple first round picks. They have alot of ammo to make moves. I think they both will be looking for QB. The only thing we have to offer is the defensive linemen. I fear if this qb thing does not get solved this year we may lose some major ground to these teams.
|
Re: The Too Soon 2022 NFL Draft Thread
Obviously QB is the priority. But we really need at least one, maybe 2, linebackers that are nasty run stoppers.
|
Re: The Too Soon 2022 NFL Draft Thread
I’d take Matt Ryan on a 2 year deal but we still need a long term QB regardless

What about coverage linebackers who also defend the run well? And/or force turnovers? Those sound real nice right about now. |
