It's definitely not ideal, but we better get used to the idea of one of those options ending up here for 2022. Shoot, maybe they'll bring back Fitz. I think the odds are that they will either sign one of those free agents, or trade for someone like Garoppolo/Trubisky/Carr... With either of these scenarios, they really have to draft a QB. I absolutely don't see them pulling off a big splashy trade for Rodgers, Wilson, or Watson. |

LOL, I never said it was a good list ,just a list of FA QB's. |

Re: 2022 off season thread part 1
Rodgers, Wilson, and Watson will be available? There is no way Dan is not salivating, climbing the walls, and endlessly running trade scenarios by Jason and Ron.
They may not pull it off, but they will try. |
Re: 2022 off season thread part 1
The Packers are projected to be $44.8M over the cap heading into the offseason, if Adams leaves you can bet Rodgers isn't going to want any part of sticking around.

pssshhhh...I don't know about everyone else, but I'm all in for Brett Rypien.
Lets get it done. |

Vice versa too. I don’t see Adam’s hanging around for Jordan Love |
Re: 2022 off season thread part 1
Looks like JDR was right about being back next year (just by not being fired by now).

That is be expected, or at least I expected it. He has a positive history with defenses so I would give him another chance if he has plans to fix the issues if I were Rivera. |
Re: 2022 off season thread part 1
When JDR was asked after the season about coming back he kinda smirked and chuckled, like of course I'll be back.
|
Re: 2022 off season thread part 1
The D definitely took a step back in 2021. There were a lot of variables involved - tougher schedule, injuries, COVID outbreak, new faces, mediocre offense...I get that, but he has to flip that next year, no question. They have to be back in top 10 in 2022 for him to keep his job in my opinion.

This is a big negative. If only we had figured out our qb situation sometime in the last 30 years. Now we gotta deal with the Steelers and Bucs needing a qb in addition to all the regulars too. |

@john_keim .
Ok, well I’m drafting the top the RB with our second round pick. With Schreff leaving, flowers with no guaranteed money, I’m looking for affordable road graders at guard which this free agent class has aplenty to come in provide competition. I’m telling Turner to improve the running scheme this offseason. Jimmy G was propped up by scheme, good head coaching and a best in class running game…he’s a statue with limited mobility. I’ll probably be against this move as I was against Alex Smith. I really hope we don’t give the big extension and move a defensive player as well. |

I'm sure if they decide to trade Jimmy...if there are other trade partners, Kyle will send him elsewhere just to not have to deal with this franchise. |

Dan and Kyle won't be the negotiators I'm sure. All SF will be concerned about is getting the best offer for him. |
Re: 2022 off season thread part 1
Jimmy G route ...
1. Trade a 2 round pick plus (Kendal Fuller or Montez Sweat or Daron Payne) 2. Sign him to a 4 yr/100M contract w 60M guaranteed 3. Sounds like Bruce fucking Allen Jimmy G doesnt solve our problems, he extends them. Its another bandaid all in an attempt to go 8-9 vs 4-13. We NEED to go 0-17. But RR didnt come here to tank and I imagine RR, Del Rio, Turner, Mayhew etc all want to keep their jobs. This organization sucks so bad, they cant even be bad the correct way. -------------- Flowers contract extensions should be interesting. I think he rightfully sits out if he doesnt get a new deal with guaranteed money. What do you do? Hes a C+/B- type guard who i dont think is worth 10M AAV but I imagine thats what he will get. |
Re: 2022 off season thread part 1
I actually like Jimmy G, but what would it take to get him, and can he stay healthy?
I actually like Jimmy G, but what would it take to get him, and can he stay healthy?
I "like" Jimmy G as well. I think hes decent at running a play as designed, getting the ball out but sometimes seems to not see the field. Hes like a lesser version of Kirk Cousins imo. I just dont think Jimmy G is the solution. We are looking for our Joe Burrow, Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen, someone we can build around for a decade. Who knows, maybe we end up with a Baker Mayfield or daniel Jones or jalen Hurts but we have to keep playing the 1st round QB lottery until we hit. Jimmy G, Kirk Cousins, Alex Smith .... fine QBs if you want to go 8-9, maybe backdoor a wild card game every 4 years. ------------ If our D played top 5 to 10 this year, that pass rush showed it is something real .. then Id be all on board with a Jimmy G. Then we would have a logical chance. watching this D and that front 5 (before injuries) really disappointed me. I thought we had something. Something special. A top 5 defense. Jimmy G + top 5 D = sign me up. Jimmy g + this D = whats the point? |
Re: 2022 off season thread part 1
Isn't it possible that one of the QBs likely to go relatively early -- Ridder, Willis, Pickett, Howell and Corral -- ends up being a quality starter? It's a crapshoot and they all have strengths and weaknesses. No one thought Brady would become Brady when he was pick #199 a zillion years ago. We just need the crapshoot to go our way for a change.
I like Jimmy G, but we know what he is -- a solid player that doesn't necessarily elevate the players around him. Can you get to a SB with him? Sure. SF did so and nearly did it again. But does one of the 2022 draft class have the potential to be more than that? Sure. I'd rather go that route and save the draft capital elsewhere. If folks are talking about Jimmy G as a bridge QB to someone better down the line, how about a rookie as a bridge -- if it doesn't work out, you'll know soon enough and we'll be where we would have been with Jimmy G without giving up as much in the process. The only vet I'd really like to see here is Wilson. A number of good years left, and seems like a solid teammate and decent guy. Watson -- who knows what his playing situation will be? Rodgers is a prima donna and he's 38. No thanks. Trubisky and Mariota? Please. |
Re: 2022 off season thread part 1
Albert Breer "Washington is going to be in the mix for Russell Wilson"
|
Re: 2022 off season thread part 1
Anyone with a brain "Washington is going to be in the mix for every Qb that's an upgrade on TH". Whether we draft a guy or not (we should) we need an upgrade if we can get one, because none of the QB's in this draft are being projected as week 1 starters, let alone franchise QB's. We're not the Rams, we're not a QB away from the SB (or even winning it), but we are a good QB away from being competitive and maybe 9 or 10 wins. The only QB's I don't see as coming here are Watson & Rodgers, or not being at least a partial upgrade, Trubisky. Everyone else is worth trying to bring to DC, even just for 2 years. So I'd look at any fair deal for any of them, just not a Rams fire sale type deal.
