So if there are no criminal charges, are we going after Watson? The question is: will the NFL punish Watson after the civil cases have been settled? Honestly, I don't get the point of suspension, after he was in a de facto suspension last year. |

He has some weird thing he's into, but does taking a man's livelihood help him move past it? I don't think so (if not found guilty of a crime). At the same time, where we are as a franchise, I don't think we're the best spot for him. But every team can justify not signing (if released)/trading for him based on that. I hope he can play somewhere next year. And if it's for us, I'll support him 100% (if legally cleared). |

Lets say Watson is cleared which team(s) are we competing against to get him? And of those teams who can outbid us?

Seattle just loaded up on picks. If Philly wants him they have more picks too. |

Watson is in limbo until a decision is made on legal charges and league suspension. Going to be very interesting how this plays out, regardless of where he lands. Very weird situation. |

Going to be very interesting how this plays out, regardless of where he lands. Very weird situation.[/quote] The thing with Watson is that, he's 26 years old, so he has more years left in him than Wilson and Rodgers. IF he's clear of the criminal case, and perhaps is facing just a suspension by the league (which to me he has already done), I see the reward being greater than the risk. Also, if Washington starts winning, no one is going to care about what Watson has done (see Big Ben). |

So I agree with you, if the suspension is the only hurdle. I have no idea what the league will do with this suspension, very unusual circumstance here. |
Re: Around the NFL 2022: Offseason edition
I *think* he may not have been suspended initially because it was just a civil case. But I would have thought that a criminal case would have warranted an official suspension. But then again, he was pretty much suspended all of last year, because he was not on the commissioner's exemption list.

Last year was odd. To my understanding he wasnt suspended by the league but the team decided to effectively suspend him. Hindsight, I would have kept him on active roster and forced league to suspend him so he could have gotten time served for last year. Perhaps the league will give him time served for this past year but then he doesnt get the sting of no pay. --------------------- Watson isnt coming here bc he has a no trade clause. Like Wilson hes not going to waive his no trade clause to come here. |
Re: Around the NFL 2022: Offseason edition
I know this is in the minority but they should leave Watson alone. Leave Winston alone. I think the first thing this franchise needs to do is become a professional operation again. That means putting character high on the list. Neither of these guys are high character guys and for that reason they should not play here. Let em play elsewhere.
You don't need to have all Kirk Cousins types. When it comes to sexual predator shit, hurting children or animals, beating women, that is where they should draw the line. What if the girl that was groped or raped was your daughter or sister? Would you still want one of these guys under center? How do you sit there and hire Julie D, hire a female coach and then turn around and bring in one of these guys? What does that say? I remember Gibbs always use to preach character guys first. I never really understood it but I totally get it now. In this day and age my QB simply can not have any off the field issues. |

Re: Around the NFL 2022: Offseason edition
@MikeClayNFL
Colts QB depth chart: 1. Sam Ehlinger 2. James Morgan (They do not have a first round pick) I also don't get how getting two 3rd round picks on the trade "makes up" giving the Eagles a 1st and a 3rd for Wentz. |

The colts must have a plan to bring in another Big splash vet QB .. if not they won’t sniff a playoff next year .. and losing to JaX was a team effort and coaching .. sounds like Frank didn’t have his boys ready and needs to place blame on Wentz ..

Mitch Trubisky. |
Re: Around the NFL 2022: Offseason edition
Some tidbits on Watson:
@MarkMaske It is believed several NFL teams would be willing to move forward with a possible trade with the Texans for Deshaun Watson if the grand jury decides Friday against criminal charges. Interested teams would have to be comfortable with the possibility of an eventual NFL suspension. |

Trubisky might actually be a good fit for the Colts, especially if he's learnt last year. Analysis says he's better in a heavy play action scheme, and having a very strong run game plays into that. They need to invest at WR though. Pittman is good, but Hilton is declining and probably out the door in FA. |

I'm hoping the Giants bring in Mariotta to backup Jones. |
