Re: Welcome Carson Wentz
Now you're just being irrational about the value of 2nd and 3rd rounders. They could be good, they could be complete non contributors, and they could end up as depth guys.
On the layup issue, I agree that's a problem, and ultimately what stops him from being considered anything better than an average starter. At the same time Bridgewater has never thrown for 27 touchdowns. So he might make layups but that's all he makes. Jameis, well he makes half court shots but he also turns the ball over like crazy. I think you're looking at having to commit more guaranteed money to Teddy and Jameis than you think. There are still teams out there thirsty for QBs. Let's revisit this in a few weeks once those guys have signed. Bet you feel better about not having any guaranteed money committed to Wentz once you see what those guys get on the market.
What I'm trying to say is I'd rather have my draft picks and take a chance on getting a free agent- Bridgwater, Trubisky, Winston, Mariota over giving up my picks and getting Wentz. To me Wentz isn't any better than the guys I just listed. If I struck out w/ all of them then I'm going back to Taylor/Allen and I am drafting someone. |

That basically assures that they start the season with Heinicke at QB, which would be the ultimate offseason failure. |
Re: Welcome Carson Wentz
And perhaps so would the Philly coach who benched him.
So you know more about Wentz than Doug P? He benched him for Hurts. Then management decided Hurts was better and traded him after they fired Doug P. Now after a year Indy has passed and traded him to the team that always takes an L on QB trades. |

Not really. You just won 7 w/ him when the team had a shitty defense. How many do you win next year w/ Wentz? I'm calling it right now, 6-9 wins. He won't get them to 10 wins. |

The schedule sets up pretty nicely actually. I can definitely see 10 or more wins on that schedule. If Wentz plays well they should compete for the Division at a minimum. |

Taylor had his worst game of the year. Their defense gave up practically a 30 spot. Wentz had a bad game, but the entire team did. Im sure there was a heavy dose of over confidence. I mean I aint gonna label him a choker over one game. Look 27 td’s, 7int’s. He is way better than TH and I like TH. Let’s see how he fits in a different system with a different team and coaches around him before we write him off. If he flops than we are in line for a stronger quarterback in next years draft most likely. All I know is for better or worse Carson Wentz is my new favorite quarterback. Hopefully he takes full advantage of what is very likely his last opportunity to prove himself. |

Really? 2017, 2018, and 2019 would like a word with you. 11,000 yards, 81 td’s to 21 int’s and a qbr of about 100. He had an off year in 2020. Last year was good until those last couple weeks. Point being he has had much more success than failure so far on the field. I think you might be pleasantly surprised. |

Dude you are Mr Optimistic. We got a better quarterback than we had before. We got a draft to do. We got more money to spend. We got players like Chase, Logan, and McKissic coming back. Everyone needs to take a deep breath. People wanna call out Wentz like he is some bust. Look at the guys career numbers man. He is not a bust. He is an improvement over any quarterback on our roster. We need to stack the oline now. We need a S and a MLB on the other side. |
Re: Welcome Carson Wentz
Nice going into free agency and draft with a QB in place!
Nice going into free agency and draft with a QB in place!
Agreed. Build the oline. Get that illusive mlb. Get a safety. Get some key pieces, and i mean KEY pieces back from injury. We have cohesiveness with our coaching staff. Everyone is freaking out about a guy who once threw for 4000 yards 33 td’s and 7 ints? Threw for 27-7 two other years? 21-7 another year. But all that is a fluke and one fuckin game against the Jaguars is his legacy? Gtfoh. |
Re: Welcome Carson Wentz
Yes, and I would think that Wentz makes this team a bit more desirable than it was when potential free agents woke up this morning.

The best run-blocking OL, they were terrible at pass protection. Like bottom of the league bad. |
Re: Welcome Carson Wentz
Hopefully it's QB at 11 still. But I don't see that happening.
Next best thing is to trade down and get some picks back. We have lots of holes to fill. |

Certainly nobody was beating down the door to play with TH. Carson has been around for years and played with plenty of people and thrown a bunch of them touchdowns etc. It is an absolute improvement. You are overlooking like 4 years of above average play because of a couple years - 1 was Covid. 1 was with a brand new team. Sometimes players just fit better in different situations. Maybe he fucking hated the food in Indianapolis? Who knows. Maybe Washington will be a worse fit? But you are acting like we signed Joe Flacco or Andy Dalton man. Carson Wentz has shown enough in his 6 years in the NFL to warrant at the very least a “wait and see” attitude. |

Well we need MLB, S, G, WR, maybe CB or C. I think that whole we are a quarterback away thing was a pipe dream after our D played lights out in 2020. I haven’t heard many say that after 2021. Fortunately we have a draft and some cap money to spend and can fill them all before 2022! |

Did you watch his last 3 games when the colts needed him the most? He looked like shit, I mean shit!! Noodle arm and really bad decision, he was responsible for the colts blowing 3 games they should have easily won. Here are some lowlights of our future: https://youtu.be/uzGGduPwJDA |
Re: Welcome Carson Wentz
So we traded two 3rd round picks for him. He had 27 TDs and 7 ints last year. When he is healthy we've seen first hand what he can do. The risk is pretty minimal if you ask me. No matter what we did people were gonna be upset. We didn't get Rodgers nor Wilson, would you all rather trade away a first for Jimmy G.? I'm confused at those who are ticked off, what is the alternative solution? Heineke again? We know he isn't winning anything
You nailed it IMO. I don't actually love the move, but I voted loved it because I actually really like it (and there was no in between voting option). They were running out of options, they had to guarantee an upgrade, they gave away a couple of 3rd round picks... This is a low risk potentially high reward move, I know we're not getting 2017/2018 Wentz, but can you remember the narrative about him back then ? We were talking MVP. Then injuries and mental struggles came in, but if he can become 75% of that player again, that's a QB you can win with... And if he doesn't, are we really gonna blame this FO for losing 2 3rd round picks in trying to upgrade the position? |

If we had paid true QB1 money, I'd be upset. But this is an insurance signing, low risk, high reward. I can also show you his highlights, that are nowhere near what we've had in QB play since Kirk: https://twitter.com/i/status/1501732486036037633 |

Here are some lowlights of our future: https://youtu.be/uzGGduPwJDA
Idc about three games. I don’t. It’s a fresh start for him. It’s an upgrade for us. Look, worse case scenario, he has nothing left and what we saw the last couple weeks of 2021 is who he is now. It isn’t like we gave up the farm or even a big piece of it. But you don’t throw 27 td’s and 7 int’s and just suddenly in year 6 become a total bum and I doubt that is the case. Best case scenario is he can win more games than Taylor and get us into the playoffs. Certainly you feel he is an upgrade from Taylor? To do that we need to sign Jordan Hicks to free up 11 and not need a qb or mlb, stack the oline, grab a S and a WR. Boom. We got plenty of money and picks to do that. All Carson has to do is be better than TH man. Keep your head up! |

If we added a Russel Wilson, we would be closer than adding a Wentz. Doesn't mean we were Super Bowl favorites if we added a QB or that we didn't have other positions that need to be improved. |

I like the move, my biggest problem with it is that for whatever reasons 3rd round picks have actually panned out for us in recent years. Probably our best value round overall.

Welcome Carson Wentz
Alot of you guys will eat some Wentz crow this year.
|
Re: Welcome Carson Wentz
I like the move. If we can add a stud WR in the 1st round, the offense could take a huge step forward. Regardless of your opinion on Wentz, he is a HUGE upgrade over Heinicke, whom I still love as a backup.

Re: Welcome Carson Wentz
I feel way better about going into 2022 with Wentz than I did going into 2021 with Fitz. So for me, it was a good move. The only outcome you can honestly say would have been better - for sure - is if they were able to land Wilson/Watson/Rodgers. They took a big swing for Wilson, Rodgers went back to GB, and Watson is still in legal limbo.
I'm not exactly sure what you debbie downers expect the team to do. They swung for the fence and ended up with a stand-up triple. I'll take it. |
