I wonder what the base is... $20mill is a lot for a 33 year old that's probably missing time.

Here....
@ProFootballTalk Initial indications of the Tyron Smith deal: $6.5 million guaranteed with another $13.5 million to be earned based on playing time and other incentives. That’s why the Jets were surprised he took the offer.
|

Wow - didn’t see that coming. Guess they’re not sold on Russ. Or think Russ has a year or two left and can mentor Fields. Either way, Chicago going QB isn’t exactly a surprise.

Re: Around the NFL - FA tampering/start
if i'm washington i would trade the #2 pick to vikings for a haul .. it would look like this
minnesota gets washington 2024 1st round pick 2cnd overall .. Washington receives Minnesota 2024 1st round pick 10th overall , 2024 1st round pick 23rd overall , 2024 2cnd round, 2025 1st round .. would you do this ?? keep in mind it's going to be Maye or Daniels .. are they worth what we could get .. |

i agree with you on that's more than you would expect.. but Would you do this if that's what they offered ???

Re: Around the NFL - FA tampering/start
tyron smith probably was the best tackle in FA talent wise (but old and misses time to injuries). Guessing he took the deal because other people were probably offering 6-10 without 13m in incentives. It's not like Dallas is going to be able to pay him.
as far as trade down, i'd rather keep it simple - need QB, in position to take QB - take QB. There are just too many ways to outsmart yourself and end up holding the bag, and if that happens, the fanbase and media will kill you for it. I mean, there's always a world where penix never gets injured again and outplays everyone else in the draft, but it's a lower % chance than JD5 looking nfl ready year 1. No one's going to destroy you for doing the groupthink higher % play (and it is more likely to work out). |

Bookend tackles in the first, bpa after. I’m of the mind that the value received via trade far outweighs any of the top 3 QBs this year. Not sure any of them are NFL top tier quality. There is no Andrew Luck or Joe Burrow there, and I have questions whether Daniels can become Lamar. Therefore, take the haul. |
Re: Around the NFL - FA tampering/start
While it's true there is no Burrow or Luck in this draft this game is all about the QB and I highly doubt they will be picking 2nd anytime soon. So you have to take your shot when you get the opportunity and prey you got it right.
I've gone from Maye to Daniels after watching a number of Drake Maye games. He just does not look special, could very well bust and or top out at Derrick Carr. I say take a big swing on someone who could be great and to me that's Daniels more than Maye. |

Caleb is considered a clear cut Game changing QB. Maye is the ? out of the 3 but so were Herbert and Allen.. |

that is exactly why you don't trade up for CW; the hype is just hype it don't mean shit until you step on that NFL grass CY was considered more of a home run then CW; he was the next great thing and produced poop |

Sent from my SM-G781U using Tapatalk
If they do it would be low like a 6th/7th rounder - the formula is based on you letting free agents go vs. signing them. So if they signed someone of equal value it balances out. The Vikings will probably get a 3rd rounder next year because Kirk signed that huge deal with the Falcons and the Vikings didn't spend nearly that much on anyone. |

Regarding Young, he would never show up for mini camps. Never do the extra work on his craft or team building within the defense. When asked why he didn’t/wouldn’t report for minicamps and such, his reply would be “I’m a business man baby”, alluding to outside team activities. In other words, he’s all about the bag, but not about the work. Now we have Williams, who has already made public statements (and walked them back) about which teams he won’t play for, and he wants ownership stake in whoever drafts him. Couple that with immature public displays both on and off the field, (crying in his mama’s arms after a loss. Painted nails. Dress wearing. Etc. ) I personally don’t think he’s built to succeed in the NFL. In fact, he looks primed to flame out epically. |

Re: Around the NFL - FA tampering/start
Fuck CY, on his 3rd team already, talking about how he wanted a winning culture so that's why he signed in New Orleans, dude you were just on a SB team WTF are you talking about. Signs a contract and heads right to surgery, FFS.

I'm not sure if the injury is the only reason why Young didn't play well as he did in the rookie year. Someone (a 49ers fan) made a video that shows multiple clips where Young slacked off on some plays, there were even a couple of plays where he was only 2-3 feet away from the ball runners and yet he didn't run hard to tackle them, which ended up allowing the runners to make a huge gain or scored a TD. |
Re: Around the NFL - FA tampering/start
Chase Young is the guy at the gym ripping curls in front of the mirror for an hour a day. No motivation to actually be a really good football player. Lazy fucker.

Seems like in his rookie year he was always flying around. Perhaps the injury has him making more business decisions on the field than he did prior. He just hasn't been the same guy since then. |
