Re: All Arrington All The Time (Mega Merge Club Mix)
How many other starters on D play special teams and are all around team players? I know I see Sean Taylor on Special Teams, does Holdman play Special Teams, I think I have seen Walt Harris out as well. It is not a slam in the face of Arrington, but like we said doing what is best for the team and he may need to jump in and play special teams and knock someones head off running full speed that is dangerous to think about LA hitting a little kick off returner wide open. Him and Gibbs having a long talk after practice shows they are both trying to talk. I would think it would be a motivational type Lavar we need you to step up and prove to this coaching staff that you deserve to be in, I know you have talent, but it is up to you to show in practice that you are the outright starter.

Re: All Arrington All The Time (Mega Merge Club Mix)
Alright, since everyone else has, I thought I'd add my .02. Just for giggles I dug up some stats and compared LA to a few of the more famous and hyped linebackers in the league over their first four years of play.
First 4 Years: Now, is LA the best LB in the league? Certainly not. Is he overhyped? Who the hell knows or really cares. His stats aren't phenominal over his first four years, but they ARE good and better than average. I think claiming that LA is of no use, should be traded and has no football "instinks" (whatever the hell that is) is a gross overstatement. LA is an above average LB with alot to contribute to any team, and a stand-up, nice guy to boot. Bottom line, G. Williams knows what he's doing and I trust him. The whole Brunell-Ramsey thing should have taught all of us here in Internet-Football land to maybe have a little faith in the guys getting paid millions to make these decisions. |
Re: All Arrington All The Time (Mega Merge Club Mix)
He doesn't make a lot of tackles though based on those stats. I think that Williams will put him in a position to make the play provided he can be disciplined enough.
|
Re: All Arrington All The Time (Mega Merge Club Mix)
'instinks'
LOL |
Re: All Arrington All The Time (Mega Merge Club Mix)
After watching the Gregg Williams interview on Redskins.com (must see tv) I have no doubt that LaVar will play more as the season progresses. GW says that turnovers come in bunches and thanks to mheisig's stats we have stats to back up the claim that Lavar is a playmaker.
LaVar will make an impact soon enough, he's just too good of a football player. The cream always rises to the top. |

Re: All Arrington All The Time (Mega Merge Club Mix)
I think Arrington should be in the game. We arent getting that great of pressure on the qb, we arent getting turnovers. Arrington, playing under williams system, would give us an added threat.

i was reading larry johnson's journal from www.nflplayers.com, and he mentions that lavar is a good friend of his from penn state, and he looks forward to playing washington.

OLBs never get as many tackles as MLBs. Arrington is getting compared to all MLBs there...not a very fair comparison |
I Feel Bad For LaVar
I just heard his interview on Sportalk. He sounds depressed. I feel bad for him...but not on a football level, its on a people level i feel bad for him. He's a good person and he seems to be getting screwed because no one wants to be honest with him. What do u guys think?
|
Re: I Feel Bad For LaVar
Man, I don't know what to think. If we do have a winning season and he isn't allowed to be a part of it, (for whatever reason)...
it will be a shame. |
Re: I Feel Bad For LaVar
I really dont know what to think. I think there HAS to be more to this than we know. I mean he is probaboly the only person who is suited up that didnt play a single down on offense, defense or special teams. I really think there has to be more to it than we know.
Going by what we do know, I feel bad for him too. I'm a skins fan first though, so I dont know. Theres more to this though. |
Re: I Feel Bad For LaVar
I heard the same interview, and I feel bad too. I really hope everything gets taken care of and he's back on the field soon. He really feels bad, and to me it sounded like he's was depressed.
|
Re: I Feel Bad For LaVar
I don't feel bad for him at all. If he does wtf he is suppose to in practice and be the player he can be, he would be on the field. Apparently he is the new "McCants" of the team....not learning the scheme very well and certainly not playing the part well enough to knock off Holdman who seems to be doing just fine.
I agree there is something we don't know about, and wouldn't be surprised that it's contract related and the agreement to remove the arbitration,etc...wouldn't put it past ol' Danny Boy to come up with something. But if he isn't doing well within the system, GW is not going to put him on the field...PERIOD and that appears to be what is happening and the coaching staff is certainly standing behind their assessments. |
Re: I Feel Bad For LaVar
I dont care what anyone says, the Redskins treat their players like crap. They dump Ramsey after telling him all preseason that he is the man, they dump Smoot, Pierce, Champ, McCants, and now LaVar ( a guy who been nothing more than a great player on the field, as well as a money maker. How many of you have a LaVar jersey?) And for that matter the skins under Snyder treat their fans like crap too! I was watching the chargers game last night and in the stands they had those "rally rags" swingin around, when was the last time FEDEX passed out a freebie? Afterall we do pay the highest ticket prices in sports, not to mention the parking fees. The Redskins used to be a class organization that took care of its players and fans WTF? At least we are winning.

We pay the highest prices because the fans keep paying it! Not too mention there are about 50,000 on the waiting list to pay again! Until the fans say no, they will continue to pay the high prices. I don't look for free shit when I go to a game, its just nice to be there! Hail to Danny, if we keep paying it, keep on charging it. And if the players keep screwing around, get rid of their sorry asses. This is a TEAM, does Lavar make the team better? We really don't know that because he can't work himself into the lineup....I can remember countless posts about Lavar and his lack of discipline on the field just last year before he got hurt...this defense is about DISCIPLINE and if he doesn't get it, he doesn't play. |

Huh? :Smoker: |
Re: I Feel Bad For LaVar
I was speculating that LaVar's not playing because he can't play within Gregg Williams' scheme. Then, LaVar said something today during interview that sort of made sense. He practiced well during last year's training camp, played well during last year's preseason and regular season game before he got injured. Gregg Williams didn't mention ANYTHING about LaVar not practicing well back then. Why now? Now I'm thinking Dan Snyder has something to do with this.
|
Re: I Feel Bad For LaVar
I'm upset, but not that he's not a starter but that he's not even getting into the game.
It's not like W. Holdman is playing he's ass off....... The guy can do two thing we need on defense turnovers and to get to the qb. Those are 2 things he does well. If he can't pick up the system or what ever the problem is, there is talk that he is a free lancer. I think that's what makes lavar so great he can make that play that only a few people can. I think he can change a game or pick up a defense get his teammates going with the emotion he plays with. The guys closing speed on would be running backs is freekish........ Of course he makes mistakes but who doesn't. If nothing else on 3rd and long send him after the qb.............G.W. is a genues with what he does with his defense. that's what's so strange about this. The guy use almost every guy who plays defense. you can't use Lavar a couple of plays? |
Re: I Feel Bad For LaVar
man we rarely get to see the player outside the uniform, it is gutwrentching to listen to lavar, all i want is for him to do what he has to, get better and be part of our special team. He has been part of our team through the tough and he should be there through the good, but one could argue if he were in there, there would be no good.
It sucks, lavar said something like someone listening out there knows why i am not playing, i don't know but someone out there does. After a 25 minute interview little things slip up, also i think(not positive because it was just a little part of one of his answers and it wasn't said again) he said that he feels things will continue the way that they have been going. |

I'm a huge Gregg Williams fan, and an even bigger Joe Gibbs fan, but please don't try and tell me the only reason he's not playing is because he doesn't know the system. Re: I Feel Bad For LaVar
It's all about money for this franchise. There is no way that Chris Clemons or Warrick Holdman (even though I like both of them) are better football players or athlete's in general.

Re: I Feel Bad For LaVar
its confusing cause you think lavar may just be saving face, but his interviews seem more honest ("i don't expect to play right now" whereas the coaches say he is going to play and then leave him benched).
I think he lost his job to injury and even though holdman isn't that good, until he becomes a liability or gets injured its his spot to lose... I have no idea whats going on, but i rather get the straight crap and just be done with it either way. Its been weeks now and nothing's changed, just more talk about nothing... |

Re: All Arrington All The Time (Mega Merge Club Mix)
There is no way they are gonna let Lavar on the Field this weekend, esp. after his comments on the Thompson show yesterday and the ensuing articles today. He has called Williams out and who do you think wins this battle? I do hope I am wrong though.
I'm totally with Lavar on this one. He is getting (doinked) over by the team on this one. Gibbs is lying, Williams is really lying, and Lavar gets the shaft. Now Lavar could be lying but if the dude isn't even getting reps in practice to show what he can or can not do then he is getting doinked by management. It will be verrrrryyyy interesting this week if the D continues to slide backwards with no pressure on the qb,no turnovers, and a tendency to get softer on the run. No one can tell me that if we get a team in third and long and we need to get to the qb that you can unleash Lavar in there and it is gonna hurt the team. No one. Look all I am saying is the team should be man enough, have the balls enough to put Lavar on the inactive list if they are gonna (doink) him in every other way and not use him at all. I would be totally happy with that if that is what the team needs to do. Hell they could use his spot on the roster to get another d-back or even a third kicker ;-) I want the team to come clean on this b/c this IS a distraction for the team and the mangement continues to fuel the fire by obviously lying to the public. Remember 9 months ago Lavar was still the FACE of the Redskins. The team has created Frankenstein's monster right in time for Halloween and they are the only ones who can kill it. Mr. B. |

The team does not seem distracted at all over this as their 3-1 record would indicate. In fact I wish the team had been this 'distracted' last season. |
Re: All Arrington All The Time (Mega Merge Club Mix)
Great info, correct me if I am wrong, of the 4 you have listed only LaVar plays OUTSIDE LB, and for all of his years he was on the strong side, over the TE. Which I think puts a little more credit on hit tackles, sacks, and forced fumbels. He was facing a TE and tackle on almost everyplay. the other three are MLB, which they are naturally in on more tackles. Notice, these 3 guys were all hurt at one time or another, most recently Urlacher and did they lose their jobs? NO!!!!!!!!!!!!
|
Re: I Feel Bad For LaVar
You got it. Wouldnt' the not being able to pick this crap up come up at somepoint last year. Wasn't GW the one saying he couldn't wait to have a LB with Arringtons playmaking and "AGGRESIVENESS" on the field. He was going to make him a GREAT LB. what a load of crap and its coming from the box upstairs, and I aint talking about GOD, although he probably thinks he is.

um, we were #3 last year without lavar... if anything that proves the value of pierce or of having marshall's speed at OLB or the importance of our corners much more than the usefulness of lavar (whos been a total nonfactor since GW/JG got here). That statement could only be placed here to imply that williams defense will crumble without lavar, but that makes zero sense, cause he's never played in it to begin with :P we're 3-1 and our D is still doing alright, all this sky is falling crap has got to stop. |
