Re: 2013 Free Agents
I think cutting Hall is probably a little more complicated than we think. If we test the FA market to replace Hall, at what cost does that happen vs a restructured Hall deal? If we draft a rookie, unless he's a stud, it's hard to imagine he'll come in an adjust and not skip a beat.
More importantly, who's behind Hall today, currently on the roster, that can step in and start? Deangelo played a lot of snaps last year and probably had his best game shutting down Dez Bryant in week 17. I just don't think it's a no brainer to cut him and move on like some are suggesting. Flaws and all, he's a seasoned vet and knows the system very well. |
Re: 2013 Free Agents
I also happen to think Carriker will be a cap casualty.

Re: 2013 Free Agents
It's not complicated. If we release Hall, we have a hole in the roster that needs to be addressed, and about $8 million more to use. If we restructure Hall (he agrees to a pay cut), we have the same hole, but significantly less money to address it with. This is not a brain teaser.

Re: 2013 Free Agents
So, just saying we release Hall, and now we have 8 million more to use. What do we use that money for? Signing a corner as good as Hall, resigning Fred Davis, signing Wes Welker(Ha ha, I wish), or what? If we could find talent equal to or more than Hall's, than I suppose I could live with releasing him. I would shed many tears, though.

Re: 2013 Free Agents
Yeah, I'm not buying the it's a no brainer ish. Will be a tough decision.

Re: 2013 Free Agents

Good thought. Not sure how that would work, though. |

who would you like to replace him in free agency? Tripp? |

Tripp?[/quote] I haven't heard if Atlanta has resigned Brent Grimes. If not, he would be a good replacement. Aqib Talib or Dunta Robinson would be some other options. Still not sure about Charles Woodson; he's talented, no question, but he is a bit slow in my opinion. |
Re: 2013 Free Agents
Who the heck is Tripp, anyway?
|
Re: 2013 Free Agents
The best player who will be available on a one year deal is going to be Pac Man Jones.
|
Re: 2013 Free Agents
But Greg Toler and Derek Cox are excellent players as well who will fit our scheme. They'll just cost a bit more. As will Aqib Talib.

This is just a question. Do you think Talib would be worth the off-field troubles? |

Cox hasnt played a complete season yet has he? Heard he is solid, but injury prone. I think Talib gonna get in the 6 million range, too high for us and I think Talib is done with effing up. |

I'm sure Bill Bellichick will brainwash Talib to stay in New England for less money. |
