you mean like when her wisdom teeth were coming in and made her cheeks swell up so bad she was sent home from work a month ago? we called around, found discounted assistance from balt city health and humane.

all we had to do was be one of the first 8 people in line on every thurs and only thurs at 8 am at this clinic with 30 bucks and proof of city residence. thats 8 people a week, at 2 clinics for all of baltimore city residents. the lady said be there early and if you dont make it, try next week. lol

idk man, im probably saying too much here, she works 2 jobs, i have a 9-5 then do hourly work on the side.

things are tough right now, sorry to be a debbie downer.

we are bbq'n this weekend, gonna have a good time, to nice out to dwell on this crap. back yard is cleaned up, the dogs are loving it. terps play tonight. woot woot!

Well I was taking a break from working on the boat and was checking to see if bribe care has been voted on yet. I guess hey are still bribing people for some more votes.

For the ones who think its the insurance companies that are the biggest problem here you really need to look at the numbers. The insurance companies average a profit of around 2.5 to 6.5 %. So if the companies reduced premiums so they could break even in the best case it would save a family 65 dollars a month if they are paying a 1,000 per month. Sorry that not going to fix anything and all these mandates they are going to add will only increase health ins. The facts are is that the goverment will make this worse which I think is their goal just so they can force us into goverment health care. This whole debate has nothing to do with health care it has to do with gaining power.

i think that they are one of the biggest problems in the equation. there is no way i want an insurance company telling me what i can, and cannot do as far as my health. and that's exactly what we have now. and im not sure where you got your numbers, but the CEO of Blue Cross just got a big time bonus

[/quote]Police and Fire are locally funded (State/county/city etc.) as they should be, not by the fed. Many states/localities have balanced budget requirements. You can also move to a different state if the taxes are too high or the services aren't what you want. Much harder to move out of the country.

And if theives break into a home, the police won't do anything but file a report (which is needed for insurance also), they won't stop the intruder.

Most conservatives understand our system needs some fixes, which have been proposed, not to be taken over and administered by the Fed. As firstdown said, this isn't about healthcare, it's a powerplay by the Dems to make people more dependent on gov't, further entrench themselves in office, and further into our wallets. It's being rammed through now because in Nov. 2010 it won't be possible to get it through.

Over the mountain, I feel very bad for your situation, here's some links that may provide useful info. One is from NIH, they were very helpful for my father when he was I'll with a brain tumor. At that time, my family was in a similar situation financially, not poor enough for gov't programs but didn't have enough to pay for health insurance.

Blue Cross executives' compensation soars as controversy rages over health insurance premium increases

Executives at Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Illinois' corporate parent pocketed big bonuses last year, as more people lost health insurance and rising premiums put insurers at the center of a political maelstrom.

Patricia Hemingway Hall, CEO of Health Care Service Corp., saw her total compensation jump 62% in 2009, to $8.7 million, according to a recent company regulatory filing. Predecessor Ray McCaskey's $15.7-million payment was bonus compensation built up in the years preceding his 2008 retirement. He served as CEO of the Chicago-based holding company for Blue Cross plans in Illinois, Texas, Oklahoma and New Mexico for 16 years.

All of the non-profit insurer's top 10 executives saw total compensation jump at least 48% — it more than doubled for six of them — thanks to large bonuses. The company revised its bonus program "to reflect current market-competitive talent practices," according to a statement. It pegs bonuses to goals for membership and earnings growth, and for keeping a lid on administrative costs.

"To manage a business of this size and complexity, our compensation must be competitive to attract the industry's best and brightest," the company says.

You can always switch health insurance companies. If the Fed takes over, what you're being told about your health will be a lot more restrictive and you can't just change at that point.

I am fiercely independent politically and count myself as neither Republican nor Democrat. But this is all about health care. Health care needs to be completely overhauled regardless of which party is pushing it. Stories like Over the Mountain's should not exist in the greatest country on earth and do not exist in some other places. It is just this simple. If the Republicans were trying to power play health care reform on the Democrats, I'd still be all for it.

I see you've used the typical buzz words: "deficit", "tax increases", and "government".

But you fail to point out how the C.B.O. scored this bill and said it will reduce the deficit by, oh, $130 billion in the first 10 years and a little of a trillion in the second ten years.

The Stimulus Bill, a third of which was tax cuts, contained one of the largest tax cuts in history for the middle class. Or the jobs bill, which also passed under Nancy Pelosi's leadership, contains another $15-17 billion in tax breaks.
So the "tax and spend" spin just doesn't square with the major pieces of legislations that Nancy Pelosi has steered through the House. It just doesn't.
