Yea I'm definitely nervous because we are not the seahawks with 11 picks in the draft where it would make sense if we didn't do squat in f/a. All the talk about how the F/O has a plan and vision for the future.... well where the hell is the plan, nothing has been addressed yet besides resigning players we cut. I was not expecting them to sign peppers and go all out like we do every year but come on, Shanny said it himself when he was introduced that he loved an owner who was willing to give him all the resouces (MONEY) to go out and put together a winning team so then what's the problem? I get that it's not a HOT market for talent this year in the free agency but we could have addressed a few important spots by now instead of being patient and be left with s*it players to choose from.
Wow. Just Wow.

Rant on Mr. Cerratto. It is day two of the of Free Agency and we are doomed.
Can we please have some patience? Who says the FO didn't look at the big names and say, "You know what, none of these guys fits with what we are trying to do".

"The problem" is a fan base that thinks all problems can be fixed in the first two days of free agency. <sigh>

^^ great post ^^ completely agree. Settle the hell down everyone. This is a long process not a one or two day process.
Also the guys that we cut have not helped this team win, and some straight up hindered us from winning. That being said I am shocked we kept Portis.

As far as worrying about our record this year when we are in March is a little ridiuclous. Who knows how well we will do, but I do know we have a strong coaching staff that will be looking to get the most out of our players. And by no means are they set as far as the roster goes.
We kept Portis...for now. :)

If we draft Jahvid Best, Montario Hardesty, or similar, our running back scene will change dramatically, whether Portis is on the roster or not.

I hope we get either Hardesty or Ben Tate from Auburn. I want Mathews but I don't think he will get pass the first round.

I still could see a Darren Sproles here. This kinda move depends on what we can get for some of the guys that have value on our roster. I seriously doubt that we are done dropping/trading guys. There are no positions on our roster that are set as of yet.

What a start to Free Agency 2010:

-Not surprised at all Peppers isn't here. Like I said all along, it was never serious

-Surprised we didn't at least get a visit from Dansby. Thought Dansby would make a few trips and we'd be one of them. But I'm glad Allen didn't bite on that deal. I like Dansby, but not sure I want him at that price

-Dunta Robinson was always a long shot so that doesn't surprise me that he's not here. But again, glad we didn't spend that kind of money on him. He's not worth that much

-I had never taken earlier Larry Foote rumors seriously, but they do make sense

-Glad we didn't sign Chad Clifton. I don't see him as much better than Levi Jones

-Haven't heard about Ben Hamilton lately, other than I think he was going to Seattle for a visit. I think he'll pay a visit here. But I could be wrong

-Campbell to the Browns rumors are dead at the moment (don't know about other Campbell rumors)

-We have mild, very mild, interest in Thomas Jones

-I'm hoping we sign Rex Grossman so I can change my username to SexyRexy

Thanks for the update SS...Im very glad to hear interest, even if it is mild, in T. Jones...the ease Portis felt 2 days ago hearing Betts and Rock were cut would likely be much heighten if we did sign an over-achiever such as T. Jones. T. Jones is just a hard worker, keeps himself in shape, and plays hard....the reaction Portis would have would be extremely interesting...would we see the jackass Portis run his mouth again or would it light a fire? Arguement could be made either way it would help the team.
I am not nervous at all. We as fans are so used to having big names come in by the moment free agancy starts and then thinking all of our problems are solved.

There are still what about 170 days or so till training camp starts. We have still have trades to make, the draft, thier are players who will be let go here and there as well. There are plenty of ways to fill out the roster with quality NFL football players. I would not be surprised if we make a trade or 2 especially if we trade away a couple of our guys.
Yeah this isn't going to be the end of cuts by any means. Rosters will have to be trimmed, draft picks will replace some vets or fringe roster young guys, etc.

It doesn't really mean much, but we did interview at least 8 running backs that I know of at the combine (though off-hand I can only name Matthews, Blount, Hardesty, Gerhart, and Spiller) so I would imagine a RB in the draft is on our radar.

I'd have to imagine so, especially with the roster blow up, can't see us replacing 2 spots in FA and going in with just Portis. I'm wondering who we're looking at in FA aside from the Sproles rumors.
