but while the grievance is held, the cap hit counts. AND if they lose they lose draft picks/salary cap. That's a lot of risk, especially when you hold the losing hand.

And even if they won, I find it hard to believe any team would trade for him and pay the cap hit, when they get him at no trade cost next year.

Tagging him is such a dumb idea, it’s playing with serious fire. I just don’t see it working out well at all. The game was over once he refused to negotiate last year. And the team moved on by trading for Smith. Time for everyone to move on.

they could win but it's not worth the risk, for many reasons. Plus Rap just reported that there is basically no chance it happens.

I don't see how this benefits the Skins in any way. Everyone keeps talking about this hypothetical situation with Denver where the skins will get Talib in order to save face. IMO the broncos are going to have to cut players to make room for KC. We can get Talib for less if we wait them out in FA than doing a trade and agreeing to his current cap hit of 12 mil. If he is cut he can be signed for less.

One reason why the #Redskins won't actually franchise tag and trade Kirk Cousins: If he gets tagged/traded, he won't negotiate at all with the new team. He'll play on $34M for one year.
