Re: 2009 Free Agents
Exactly. I couldnt have said it better myself. Signing Pace would be a brilliant move. Between Samuels and Pace, i'd probably move Samuels to RT and keep Pace at LT. Next year we could draft a T with our 1st round pick and groom him behind Samuels and Pace.

This year, we could sit at 13 and take Maualuga if he's still there or trade down in the first (if we find a partner) and pick up a 2nd round pick. In the latter scenario, id draft LB and DE with my first two picks and use the third rounder on a project lineman.
The first part I agree with. Why take a risk with an unproven pick when we can get an all pro in Pace for 1 year? He can extend his career by moving to the right side where he won't face top pass rushers. SIGN PACE!!! I'd keep Samuels at LT and move Pace RT and draft a sure OT (I think Oher and Smith are risky at 13). I would not take Malauga, but other than that I agree with you for once BHA.

I don't think it's official until the paperwork has been inked.

Shouldn't they Doughty and Fincher stuff go on this thread? Why start a new one on each player we sign or resign?

My god do we really want one giant thread? What is this aversion to starting new threads lately?

Ditto. I think the idea of having one thread for all free agent talk is retarded. Break out individual subjects (ie, players) into its own thread. That's what threads are for! Much easier to sift through multiple threads than it is a single thread with 800 posts.

Re: 2009 Free Agents

I like both, the one big generic thread that catches all the names and trades, and then spinoffs, when a player of merit (by the thread starter at least) comes available or is signed. I've really enjoyed the board so far this off season.

Re: 2009 Free Agents

I tend to look at this thread more as a news wire. Just a place to dump all the news about free agents throughout the league.

But when we're talking about Redskins players, or players we are or could/should be targeting those merit their own threads.

The possible JT move to NE would come of no surprise.

COULD JASON TAYLOR WIND UP IN NEW ENGLAND?
Posted by Aaron Wilson on March 11, 2009, 4:05 p.m.

After creating a void at outside linebacker when they traded Mike Vrabel to the Kansas City Chiefs, the New England Patriots are regarded as a potential destination for veteran free agent defensive end Jason Taylor, according to Mike Reiss of the Boston Globe.

A six-time Pro Bowl selection who leads all current NFL players with 120 1/2 sacks, Taylor, 34, was cut earlier this month by the Washington Redskins.

According to the Globe, Taylor, 34, would fit the Patriots’ need for a proven pass rusher. The point is seconded by Dave Hyde of the Fort Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel.

Plus, as the article notes, Taylor and Tom Brady are good friends.
