Re: 2011 Redskins Free Agents Rumors and Reports-Part 3
If Kyle was smart he would urge Danny to pick up Cotchery.... Kellen and Cotchery had nice chemistry in 09.

Excellent news. I feel much better about our depth. |
Re: 2011 Redskins Free Agents Rumors and Reports-Part 3
I like Locklear...but would prefer more interior depth. Not convinced that Hicks can bounce back from his struggles in 2010

Isn't Hicks actually having a pretty good camp right now? |

Wow, really good signing. I think just as good as getting Harris as depth. Great great signing. Man he is talented enough to start :headbange but on the other hand....did someone say Artis Hicks is still here? oh god please no  |
Re: 2011 Redskins Free Agents Rumors and Reports-Part 3
So lets see right now it's
LT - Trent Williams LG - Kory L. C- Will Montgomery RG - Chris Chester RT - Jammal Brown Backups (in no particular order) - Erik Cook, Selvish Capers, Clint Oldenburg, Will Smith, Sean Locklear, Xavier Fulton, Maurice Hurt, Artis Hicks And yet something else I missed. Good depth... can start at RT if J. Brown is hurt (or playing bad). Hoping, Tatupu and Hayden sign soon.

Re: 2011 Redskins Free Agents Rumors and Reports-Part 3
Also heard he was drafted as a G, so he could backup Litch at LG. IMO I don't buy he's just a "depth" guy. He was rated one of the Top Plass Blockers in the league last year. 2010 Pass Blocking Efficiency: Tackles | ProFootballFocus.com And according to this Seattle's O-Line had only a 28.29% of allowing pressure
I wouldn't read into this, but Locklear was ranked 7th for FA OT's Ranking the Free Agents: Offensive Tackles | ProFootballFocus.com RT Competition w/ J. Brown? |

I like the signing as well. Didn't he play guard his first year in Seattle? |
Re: 2011 Redskins Free Agents Rumors and Reports-Part 3
I mean they're saying right now that he's depth for the T positions. But, and I guess it's a problem we've long wished we had, we've now got three starting quality Ts but only two can start.
So it's one of three things 1.) he actually will be depth 2.) Someone (TW or Jammal) is maybe struggling with an injury or 3.) They slide Locklear in at LG and make Kory L. your primary interior reserve lineman. If Locklear can play inside, I'd love to see #3. Regardless, now with Trent Williams, Jammal Brown, Chester, Locklear (plus Kory L. and the later draft guys we've gone after) you really can't say we've ignored the offensive line these past two years. |

Brown?
Definetely not competition with Brown. I know Brown was hurt last year but with Jammal you're talking about a guy that was rated among the 5 best tackles in the league as recently as 2008. And all the film I've seen on him says the talk of him coming back to form near the end of last year are true. Not to mention Brown got the big contract. Locklear is quality depth. Still in looking at that list of backups I'm a little uneasy about the group as a whole. Hopefully someone will emerge during the preseason among Cook, Capers, and Smith. |

This is why I was asking about Blalock. If we had signed him, we could have used Chester (or Kory L) for depth and been good to go on the inside. It still is nice to know that if a tackle goes down, we have a quality replacement. And if Locklear can play guard, as speculated above, that is icing on the cake. I have no faith in Hicks, who from reports is having an uneven camp. I will have faith in Lichtensteiger when I have better reason for such faith. |

If there is a change at all it could come at LG. Heard any details on Locklear's contract? May give a clue as to what role he'll play.
