At this point ill just wait for the long term ramification to occur and worry about it then. They havent happened yet and everyoen keeps saying they will. If we pick good players and they remain good players then its not as much of an impact as when we sign big players and then we have to cut them for being busts. Of course, recentlly, say the last two years, we have been cutting big names that were busts and seem to still be fine with the cap. Id hate for us to come up short this year and it be because we were missing one piece. I say while Gibbs is in town we work on getting a ring. We can rebuild later if we have to.

yes! or deal with them being big draft busts, like say Gardner? Westbrook? whats our record for Dline first rounders?

Snyder finally got it right. pay up for NFL productive, well-charactered young guys JUST below the radar. this is another one of those opps and i'll stop sayin it now.

this is our first year w/o Champ guys, Springs and Taylor will hopefully cancel that out. our linebackers are all new save Scarrington, all starting from scratch. even with Bailey, we didnt stop enough offenses. our defense needs some serious DLINE love, and i'd hate to have to resort to and WAIT for next year's draft, which of course, is NO kind of guarantee.

i feel the offense is top heavy, we could afford to shed some of those wideouts from the Spurrier 'just chuck it' days. not to mention a certain johnny-come-lately QB. Can we cut him NEXT season w/o that cap hit??

EXACTLY. imagine if Joe Gibbs historic one year triumphant return was stopped by ONE (crucial, vital, fundamental) piece! i honestly think we are all pretty damn good otherwise

So we all agree we just trade for him and win the super bowl then. Sounds good to me, its selltled. Ill start planning for the party at my house.

problem with that kinda statement is that he WAS suspended, so he didn't hit 1000, the reason doesn't really matter, as repeat offenses/injuries aren't that uncommon...

anyways, i'd love a better D line too, but like kearse, this guy is gonna be expensive, and i doubt throwing wynn in really going to help much ;) he is proven, but coming in during august means we might be seeing some mediocre performances early on (though i believe they'd be better than the current roster). I like watching the draft, but more importantly, spreading the money between more than 5-6 players tends to leave weaknesses (i think miami got the sacks cause they had TWO linemen, with only one, its easier to double team him and scramble the other way)

the other problem is that danny tends to overpay, and the "build for today, f^%& tomorrow" mentality just doesn't sit right with me personally...

he should be expensive, but not Kearse expensive who IS a household name with an ego the size of a household. thats why the Ogunleye parallel with Lav Coles. proven, good character, down low guys. and yeah in my dreams, LaVar would be playing the role of Jason Taylor on the other side. one can dream cant he?

hopefully Joe Gibbs will temper owner and players alike into this forgotten 'tomorrow' concept you talk about.

We potentially would have two ends. Daniels cound end up having a good year. Expecially if the other end is getting double teamed. Sometimes being a great player means you open up opportunities for other players, more so then putting up big stats your self. Daniels had what, ten sacks two season ago. Mabye he could have another year like that, you never know. Plus, lets say its 3rd and 7. That means your ends are A.O. and Arrington...not a bad combo in my opinion. Plus what is taylor blitzes then to, that takes the TE out of the play. Having one star end is definitly better than two, even if it takes him a few games to learn the playbook. Ive got a feeling the rest of the league will have a harder time learning Gibbs gameplan.

well, i think its just that we see no way that he could possibly be worse than what we've had the last 4 years or so (as far as coaching goes)...

oh...being a redskins fans in the 80s was about as great of a feeling a sports fan can have...thats why Joe Gibbs is the messiah in DC. him being back won't really hit me until i see him with a baseball cap on the sideline again....but in an attempt to keep this on topic.. we had a pair of pro-bowl DEs back then...they certainly had alot to do with the 'Skins reign

I vote against giving up a #1st Rounder for Ogun! I have a feeling that Williams is the man to motivate our "D" to be the "National Defense" that it is supposed to be!

The fact that he had them bring the whole house on the first play from scrimmage in the very first mini-camp says something about a major change on the Defensive side of the ball!

It's no longer the "Status Quo" with OBC and an inexperienced lot holding the reins!

It's a different ball game!

A tremendous amount has been done to improve our defense this past off season. When in in doubt, In HOF Coach Gibbs we Trust!

right now name one of our ends that as a nfl coach you would send a double team on. The answer would be none of them I'm sorry but they all suck, that is why the offensive coordinators of the NFL target our LB and exploit our line. I say keep the first & stay with the pick, then go after either Mathias Kiwanuka of Boston College, or Marcus Spears LSU next year in the draft. That would be the smartest cheapest option.

The good ends that will be able to start next year will be gone by the Skins pick. WIlliams is a great defensive coach but he also had good players on the dline. The dline is the anchor. Our linebackers will only be effective as blitzers if the line can get pressure to. If we had A.O. they cant double team him and pick up the blitz with a linebacker, it will open up so many more opportunities for us.
