Re: Group Coerced Censorship
This is also exactly how I believe. The bible is a book of fables used to teach lessons about morality. Most of the 'western' religions are practically the same values regurgitated. Christians, Jews, and Muslims believe in overall the same thing, just different prophets and different stories.
I believe...
The Bible
I believe that the Holy Bible is the verbally
inspired Word of God; that it is inerrant; and
that it is our sole authority for faith and practice.

God
I believe there is only one true God; eternally
existing in three Persons –
Father, Son and Holy Spirit –
each of whom possesses equally all of the divine attributes.

Jesus Christ
I believe that Jesus Christ is fully God and fully man,
that He was born of a virgin, that He lived a sinless life,
died for sinners, rose from the dead,
ascended into heaven,
and that He will return to the earth one day.

The Holy Spirit
I believe that the Holy Spirit is fully God
and that He enlightens the minds of sinners,
and indwells, seals, comforts,
and guides believers into the truth.

Not a sermon just some thoughts.
peace
Yeah you're right, it's a pretty broad statement. A summary of my beliefs:

- I don't believe there is a God, a heaven, or a hell.

- I believe that a guy named Jesus existed claiming to be the son of God, because that's been established as historical fact.

- I think a lot of the stories written in the Bible about the amazing things Jesus did, like walking on water, curing the sick, etc. are made up.

- But I do think that the teachings of Jesus, and the way he taught people to live their lives, are great ways to live your life. I'm skeptical of the existence of a higher power, and basically skeptical of believing in anything that has no scientific evidence to indicate it exists. But regardless, I'd like to live my life like Jesus because it just feels like the morally right way to live.
Well said and I agree 100 percent.

As for the media conviction of Falwell I think it's quite the opposite. He was allowed to maintain a media presence - appearing as an "expert" on panel discussions until his death - in spite of saying bitter hateful things that would have had anyone else tarred and feathered. Compare some of the disgusting things Falwell said over his career with what got Imus canned, and you will see that Reverend Falwell was much much worse.

Falwell will go down historically as the person most responsible for fusing politics and religion, and for that I would hope he is reserved a special spot in hell if I believed in hell, which I don't.
So as for muslims in particular? They need salvation just as much as any other false religion, Are they the most hostile religion? Yes, not all are as hostile or extreme as what we see on the news everyday, but you sure don't see other muslims coming out against these extremists keeping their house in order per say.
If you were born a Muslim do you think you would consider converting to Christianity? What would the chance of that ever happening?

The biggest problems with Islam is that it has self serving and delusional SOBs in positions of "authority." If you speak up you're in danger. Let's also not forget who runs Muslim states. F'ing despots who could careless about the people. Muslims around the world are in bondage. In essence they are in their dark ages and their is no end insight because, lets be frank, there isn't one western state that isn't benefiting from their lack of progress and power (military, monetarily, and intellectually). We'll just have wait and hope they work the poison out of their system on their own but for that to happen we have to make sure we don't add fuel to the fire.

Fortunately for the entire world most Muslims aren't as extreme as some people would like us to think. Could you imagine what the world would be like if all Muslims were extreme and well armed?

I use to like Falwell but since I saw the light just two days ago, I realize that he was in the forefront of opressing women. If it were up to him there would probably be no women sportswriters, no women golfers, and no women moderators of web discussion boards. Can you imagine a Fan Forum run by all men? I think the living would envy the dead. Except for Falwell. I can't envy him because he was sexist like I use to be. If only he could have visited The Warpath, he might have seen the light as well. I have to go now. I've been invited to be the guest speaker at a lesbian macrame seninar and I need to get my head together.

But before I do, I would like to address one thing. Someone in another thread said I was being witty, which implied that somehow the new views I was expressing were not sincere. Nothing could be further from the truth. My conversion was real. As real as that lesbian macrame group that has invited me to speak. Love, Peace, and Axel Grease

As a whole I seriously doubt they will ever change, but God can change the heart of any individual he pleases, but converting to christianity and actually becoming a christian [and when I say becoming a christian I do mean an individual in whom God has truly saved, in whom he has changed his heart, not someone who decieded to put a label on himself, or join a church like a child joining the cub scouts], are two entirely different circumstances. So yes I believe a muslim can be saved no different than any other individual.

Well God has kept a lid on them at least on a major scale, but the more we kick God out of this country the more we lose his clock of protection.

As for working out the poison in their system? Islam is the poison!

Kind of an ironic e-mail a friend sent me.

Let's stop with the attacks on Muslims here. "Islam is the Poison" is a statement that's not going to fly here.

Man, I am speechless. Might I ask how you propose to treat the poison?

p.s. It's very presumptions to think that this nation is protected by god. Somehow I don't think god has affinity for nations. Anywho, if you want god in your kids schools send your kids to a Christian school.

Well if you read anything I have wrote it's pretty obvious, there is only one way to treat any poison and that is God, period!

Any false religion is a poison as spoken of in the bible.

Psalms, psalm 58-"1": Do ye indeed speak righteousness, O congregation? do ye judge uprightly, O ye sons of men?

"2": Yea, in heart ye work wickedness; ye weigh the violence of your hands in the earth.

"3": The wicked are estranged from the womb: they go astray as soon as they be born, speaking lies.

"4": Their poison is like the poison of a serpent: they are like the deaf adder that stoppeth her ear;

"5": Which will not hearken to the voice of charmers, charming never so wisely.

Deuteronomy, chapter 32-"32": For their vine is of the vine of Sodom, and of the fields of Gomorrah: their grapes are grapes of gall, their clusters are bitter:

"33": Their wine is the poison of dragons, and the cruel venom of asps.

God uses the term poison to emphisize a false gospel.

The fact that you are speechless is laughable, aren't you the one who said they need to work the poison out of their system? So I really have to ask what poison were you refering to? And where does it stem from?

As for God in the schools? That wasen't what the letter was about, it was about God getting the blame from individuals who want nothing to do with him.
