Re: Clinton Portis to switch to #21
I thought it was not allowed mid season.
I thought I heard CP would be switching to #21 for good, not just for this game.
Do you recall where you heard this. The only thing I heard and I heard it while typing....was CP would like to wear #21 for this weeks game. But their is no official word either way. |
Re: Clinton Portis to switch to #21
i heard a few minutes ago on washington post live that this is just a rumor.

Re: Clinton Portis to switch to #21
Why does anyone think Goodell would stop it? It isn't against any rule I have ever heard of. I know in the past players have switched numbers mid year for whatever reason.
Well...and I know it seems a little cold and messed up esp. in light of the events of the past three days, but I'm sure there are licensing fees, marketing agreements, misc. contracts, uniform rules etc. that would have to be looked at and worked out. Unfortunately in this day and age professional football is as much a tightly regulated business as it is a sport. Remember the hell that was raised when Peyton Manning simply wanted to wear black socks to honor Johnny Unitas? |
Re: Clinton Portis to switch to #21
now that i can understand and appreciate......i wouldn,t mind him carrying it thru the rest of his career.

Thanks brother!

I always liked Clinton's class act attitude. Good Job man. Wear it proudly.
Re: Clinton Portis to switch to #21
I cant take anymore!The redskins fans are the best!Love you all!R.I.P #21!

I hope he wears it with "Taylor" on the back.
Re: Clinton Portis to switch to #21
Clinton WILL NOT wear Taylor's number... he said so today in his press conference at Redskins park... its on redskins.com if you need to hear it for yourself...
He says all he can do is play his heart out. I guarentee you that someone said something to Clinton that made him change his mind..*cough Goodell |
Re: Clinton Portis to switch to #21
Instead of changing his number to 21, I think he should change it to 36 forever. And the skins should retire the number.
|
Re: Clinton Portis to switch to #21
Channel 4 just reported CP said he just can't do the number justice and he will NOT be wearing 21.

Re: Clinton Portis to switch to #21
Clinton says it on Redskins.com. He is not going to wear the number.

Re: Clinton Portis to switch to #21
so it's not happening.
one thing i'd like to see is the "21" in the middle of the field instead of the redskins logo for at least this upcoming game. |

Re: UPDATE: Portis Will Not Be Changing To #21
I've said it before and I'll say it again: It's a heck of a lot easier to ask forgiveness than to get permission. I think that whatever they want to do, they should keep it quiet and then just do it. IF the league bitches, so be it, it's after the fact.

I don't know...if he did it and then league was complaining it would make them appear kinda bad considering the circumstances... i think any actions they would take would be severely criticized |
