DEs most often take at least one or two years of experience to make an immediate impact. Even Mario Williams who is tearing it up now, wasn't much of a factor his first season.

Why not take a cornerback with #1 pick? Why did we give #4 for TJ Duckett?

We got Duckett because at the time Portis had just separated his shoulder and the time we did not know if Betts could stay healthy. The FO felt we need a backup in case Portis was out for a while and Betts did not pan out. Well Betts panned out.

In terms of the draft:
The best big man available, offense or defense.
When you control the line of scrimmage it makes everything else easier. I would be happy if we spent every one of our picks on lineman.

corner with out a doubt! even if we restructure and sign springs....springs and smoot played good down the stretch. rogers will not be ready or at least 100% until 2009. but i cant help but think that if we get corners playing in our nickle packages instead of safeties we are better off because this league is shifting to a pass happy league. the more guys who can cover the more balanced of a defense you can have, the more aggressive you can be. it just makes too much sense. i think unless we are going to do something drastic and trade up to get chris long(best player in the draft) then we go corner.

I voted for D line, but it's good to see that we all are overwhelmingly together about getting D line help and O line help.
I figured there would be a lot of people saying wr, glad we're on the same page.

Well, we gave a 4th rounder for Duckett, and still can't figure out why if we had no plans of keeping him. My only guess is they didn't expect Betts to do so well, making Duckett expendable.

our defense has always been good even without an amazing rusher. our problem the last 4 years has been offense. lets fix it

The team needs another consisent threat at defensive end and even though I know it's not gonna happen but I'm hoping for Chris Long. I also really hope they consider drafting a tall yet still somewhat speedy reciever to be a go across the middle and pick up a first down type of reciever. not to mention that would also possibly provide Campbell with another dangerous red zone target. they also might need to find another potential kickoff/punt returner.

Andre Carter is solid on one side but Phillip Daniels is nearing the end of his career and their depth is lackluster at best. A huge (6-8, 280) pass rusher who can also hold his own versus the run, Campbell has 38.5 TFL and 19 sacks in just 3 seasons and he has the talent to be chosen much earlier.

Agreed, but our line was decimated by injuries last year.

i still say corner in the first round....every other position has players who will be available later....i think our oline without injury is damn good, so bring in a young guy in the 3rd - 5th round let him learn the guard position, bam oline addressed. but the first round belongs to a corner. there is a lot of depth at wr, a guy like hardy out of indiana would be great in the second round. the only two other scenerios i think make sense, is some how trading up to snag chris long because he is the best player in this draft. the other is trading down, but staying in the first round, and adding a second rounder and/or third rounder. i just dont think dline has to be addressed through the draft unless its chris long. the best place to address it "this year" is in free agency.
