Re: Coaching Staff update

How about Jack Del Rio if he gets canned by Jacksonville? He was DC in Minnesota, was a position coach (LB I believe) in Baltimore, seems like he's pretty no nonsense but will put players in positions to succeed..
So has everything else apparently the past 2 weeks, why change now?
i'm very pleased zorn was fired. i'm ok with the shanahan and allen hires (in a vacuum.) The only thing ive been upset about is the manner in the "searches" were carried out and the implication that nothing has really changed in the way the front office operates. There's atleast 5 known candidates for our DC position. Whats the problem with me having an opinion on which one(s) i would like and which ones i would HATE?

I think Del Rio would be a great choice, though it seems like ownership in Jacksonville will probably be convinced to keep him.

I have mixed feelings about Gray staying as DC. It would feel to me like Snyder is just trying to appease those (players mainly) who were upset when Williams was sent packing.

Perry Fewell could be a sleeper

Are we even looking at Romeo? I also read somewhere that John Fox has been given the opportunity to opp out his final year in Carolina. Could he be on our radar as a DC?

The former lead singer for Jane's addiction? Wow.

If Gray is hired as D.C., all it means is that was his payment for agreeing to a sham interview and making a mockery of the rooney rule and slapping the face of every minority assistant coach in the league.

i highly doubt that John Fox would chose to leave his head coaching job to be a defensive coordinator for another team. If fox opts out of his contract, it'll be for another HC job somewhere - and one that would offer him a multi-year contract.

Even if carolina decided to fire fox so they could go after Cowher, Fox would most certainly become the #1 HC prospect out there. unless there were no other vacancies, i can't see him becomming a coordinator. he'd actually probably decide to just sit out a year before being a DC.

I think the Texans will sign Denvers off line coach{Rick Dennison } today.I was hoping we would sign him.Alex Gibbs is too old and I think hes going to retire anyway

Re: Coaching Staff update

^BHC I'm not so sure about that one... if I can paid like a HC to coach here for a season, and not have the responsibilities to focus on the whole team only the defense, then have my choice of teams next year to coach why not?

Dude is your nick name gloomy Gus? Everything you post on this site is negative!! I understand the Skins have sucked for years now, and the owner is still suspect, but it seems they are trying to go in the right direction. Maybe you should try a different team…Wait to see who wins the superbowl then root for them

If Coughlin doesn't survive in NY, Fox could be a possibility there.

The Giants had what looked like on paper the best d-line in the NFL by far going into the season. I had them picked to win the division with their D, like many others.

That didn't end well. If Coughlin was in charge of the defense, I don't trust him. They did have some injuries on D, but it was a massive failure.

so whats your nick name then? would you support the decision to make lil bow wow our defensive coordinator? Or Mike Martz? Or how about we just fire Bruce Allen and turn the franchise over to Matt Millen? Would you "support" those moves and be positive about them? I doubt it. I feel the same way about Jerry Gray. If Romeo Crennel is hired, will you criticize me for being "negative" about Jerry Gray? I don't Jerry Gray as our DC. Its an opinion. Partly because he wouldn't be earing the job on his own merit, but rather because it was his reward for being a "company man" and partly because he's nowhere near being the best candidate for the job.

I agree, although I think Coughlin is staying. I have a nagging feeling that Cowher ends up in New York, whether its in 2010 or 2011. As far as Fox goes, I don't get why Carolina has cooled on him. Living in NC, i can say that most panthers fans I know are happy with Fox (unless he were replaced by Cowher). The panthers were 12-4 last year, had a bye week, and lost to the NFC Champions. They really struggled with injuries this year, yet managed to finish 8-8, handily being teams that were fighting for playoff spots in the final weeks of the game. If Carolina can't land Cowher, I don't think they'll find a better head coach out there than Fox.

Had no clue that Crennel was a product of Lynchburg; lived there and in the general area for quite awhile.
