My guess is that his agent will insist on a no-trade or limited-trade clause in any new deal
Well if we draft or sign another starting QB, he'll want to go to another team where he would be assured to be the starter. If Campbells not getting the love here, he'd probably agree to go any team not owned by Al Davis.
What would make you think that Pennington and Bulger are better than Campbell? Hell, are they better than Todd Collins?
I don't think that Pennington and Bulger are better than Campbell. For me, I wouldn't trade Campbell unless real riches were involved.

But the question was posed about what we will do at QB if we trade JC before the draft. In this scenario it seems to me that Shanny would want to bring in another vet, if nothing else for competition. If you then wonder what vets are available, Pennington and (likely) Bulger come to mind. That's all.

Rams' GM (and former Redskin) Billy Devaney said they're deciding between Suh, McCoy, Bradford, Clausen
Exactly what I was thinking, something like a 3 year deal at $5M per. Look for a QB to groom in the later rounds. Address OL early.
Makes a lot of sense to me. Build the line, give Jason a chance to show what he can do when he's not getting pounded. If it doesn't work out, trade him. In the meantime the young QB gets brought along slowly without being thrown into the fire and beaten to a pulp.

Wow Clausen number one would be a shocker.
The people that have a "win now" mentality shouldn't be and aren't the ones making the key decisions

I like Clausen as a QB, I give Bradford the slight edge but if he's there at #4 I wouldn't be against drafting him.
I agree with this post, for the most part.

Look, I don't care if it does say "The Future is Now" all over your ticket renewal stuff, we're not going to win in 2010. The Redskins P.R. machine says we're not rebuilding, but we are rebuilding, regardless of the propaganda they're putting out to try to fool the season ticket holders.

With that in mind, we'll have a much better chance of going to the Super Bowl in the future if we have a franchise QB to lead us there. I'm convinced that JC is not a franchise QB. On the other hand, I think that both Bradford and Clausen might just become franchise QB's. I rate them 1A and 1B. If one of them is available when we pick at #4, we must take him for the sake of the team's future.

As for Suh, if Bradford and Clausen were both off the board, damn right I'd pick him at #4 over any OT in the draft. If there is one thing that is certain in football, it is that the other team can't beat you if they can't score. Haynesworth and Suh as the DE's in our 3-4 defense would be a nightmare for our opponents.

What we need to do is to trade some of our over-rated name players (e.g., Santana Moss and Laron Landry) and players who we no longer need or who don't fit in our new offense and defense (e.g., JC, if we pick a QB at #4, and Andre Carter) for draft picks or for other players who can help us more. Any additional picks we receive could help us re-build our OL in the future. As for now, I think we'll need to look to FA to fill out our immediate OL needs - perhaps with players such as Ben Hamilton, Chester Pitts, or Tony Pashos who have some familiarity with the techniques that Mike Shanahan uses on offense.

I wonder if signing vets is a priority with Labor negoitiations on the table. Weed out the top reps to weaken the players stance on talks...

Hell, are they better than Todd Collins?
Both Pennington and Bulger can anticipate their WRs getting open and have better accuracy, but neither of them have the arm strength to be very successful in a Shanahan offense, in which the two very notable QBs, Cutler and Elway, he had both have rocket arms and along with the other necessary skills.

Did Plummer have a rocket arm? I can't remember.

Plummer didn't have a "rocket arm" necessarily, but he wasn't lacking in the arm strength department either.

Guess we'll find out soon enough when Plummer takes the field as our starting QB in 2010. Then all you haters will recognize the truth BHA's been spittin'!

Injury prone my ass:
"The biggest news so far is that Oklahoma QB Sam Bradford physically looks fantastic. He has bulked up to 236 pounds and measured in at 6-foot-4. This is great to see because, regardless of the injury, another concern about Bradford was his tall, lengthy frame and some questioned his ability to fill it out. Those concerns are gone and NFL scouts are pleased."
He's as good as gone with the Rams first pick.
Reading some of these posts just brings painful reminders of 2003. We had a strong offensive line back then (couple of 1st rounders, couple of 3rd rounders, Randy Thomas who I think was a 2nd rounder) yet we couldn't win with Shane Matthews and Danny Wuerfful...which is ridiculous because with that line those guys should have been franchise QBs.
That's the year that we won the SB right? because we paid attention to only the line?
