Re: Is Campbell Officially Headed Out The Door?
There are teams out there that still have a need at QB, depending on what happens in the draft there still may be a market for JC.
I wonder if a trade down with our #4 and JC would be worth a lower first rounder and either a second or a third rounder. Say what you say about JC, he'd be a solid back up and a good (character) role model for a young QB. |
Re: Is Campbell Officially Headed Out The Door?
It only takes Donovan McNabb getting hurt for Jason to have to step back in. It's not like us picking up McNabb guarantees he wouldn't take a snap next year. I wouldn't be surprised if Campbell does stay at least one more year. I'm not sure how sought after he is as a starting QB around the league.

What a great thought! That would be beautiful! Trade JC for a veteran RT, then pick up Okung in the draft to play LT. We would be able to upgrade our OL with only one rookie starting and then we could go best player available for the rest of our draft. |
Re: Is Campbell Officially Headed Out The Door?
JC is gone. He has been a classy guy throughout this time in Washington. I really am not stoked about Grossman being a backup.

Re: Is Campbell Officially Headed Out The Door?
With the Redskins' trade for Donovan McNabb, it is clear that Jason Campbell is not long for Washington, D.C. A trade seems to be a strong possibility, with two possible destinations being the two teams that just lost out on the McNabb sweepstakes: Oakland and Buffalo.
The Raiders might make a little more sense seeing as how the Bills could now be turning toward the draft for a QB, hoping for Notre Dame's Jimmy Clausen to drop to them at no. 9, or perhaps nabbing a Colt McCoy or a Tim Tebow in rounds 2 or 3. Campbell would seem to be an upgrade over Bruce Gradkowski, and has the type of big arm that Al Davis likes to see in his quarterbacks. And of course, there is the chance of a team biding its time and getting into the mix later (say, a Favre-less Minnesota Vikings, if they see Campbell as an upgrade over the Tarvaris-Sage duo). Carolina is another team to keep an eye on, as the Panthers have yet to settle their QB situation, and a hardworking, less flashy guy like Campbell might be more of what they're looking for in the position (seeing as they have taken a pass on adding Michael Vick, despite his interest in playing for them). Campbell would be in a position to challenge Matt Moore, or serve as a more-than-capable backup. Don't count out the Cleveland Browns, either. They have lots of draft picks to offer, and the current depth chart of Jake Delhomme and Seneca Wallace is scaring no one. Michael Wilbon writes in today's Washington Post that while McNabb is a great fit for the Redskins, Campbell will also be better off because of the trade. It may be tough for the Redskins to find a suitable trade partner, however. Matt Mosley explains why below: From ESPN |

Following are interested in Jason Campbell: Buffalo, Carolina, Oakland, Jacksonville and unknown team. |

Schefter seems to think that there's some interest in Campbell, I'll take his info over Mosley anytime.
well thats the one big positive for me on this trade is that means good bye JC!
Goodbye Brennan too. You may wish JC was around WHEN McNabb gets hurt and Rexy is starting. |

Say what you say about JC, he'd be a solid back up and a good (character) role model for a young QB.
There's no reason to do that. Our #4 pick is already worth a first round and a second round pick (or more), without including JC in the deal, to anyone from Oakland on down. If there is more than one team who wants Clausen at #4, then we'll be sitting pretty if we want to trade down. I'm betting that JC is worth a third round pick on his own. If Okung is available at #4, I expect the Skins to take him. If not, I expect them to trade down and pick up an additional second round pick. Then, if we could get a third for JC, we could have a very good draft. |
Re: Is Campbell Officially Headed Out The Door?
I think there will be a number of significant moves made by this team over the next month:
think Campbell gets moved before noon today / by the end of the day at the latest. I think Landry gets moved by the draft. I think, if we can receive a top 45 pick, Haynesworth will be traded by the draft. I think Brandon Marshall will be on the team before May. I think if a team offers a 4th round pick for Portis, he will be traded. I think Cooley or Davis will be traded before the draft. |

Re: Is Campbell Officially Headed Out The Door?
The Problem is, Jason wasn't really a starter. He was a quarterback who just happened to be starting. The rest of the league knew that.

He still put up better numbers than half the QBs in this league, even in a crap situation. He can start in this league. |

same, and I think Shanahan maybe thinking the same thing. I think we shouldn't waste any one of our precious picks on a QB, when we could get more OL, DL, LB's, CB's, and FS's. |
