Ryan O'Halloran of Comcast Sportsnet said he thought the Skins would cut Kelly. I'm not putting stock in that rumor since it seems to be an opinion, not a report.

I thought he actually played decent our last 2-3 games, but shanny knows talent and maybe MK just can't cut it in the NFL

I would only agree that this would be a critical year for Kelly, being his third. He must step up.

His biggest problem to this point from my point of view have been health (bad knees) related. Which are big if your not healthy and can not perform it doesn't matter what you could do.

If Kelly were to not make the team and it this point I don't believe that. They would have to have plans to bring in a talented proven WR.

I don't think the Skins are going to cut Kelly this conjecture has been out there for about 3 months. I remember reading an article back in April or May about that.

Kelly is putting in the work, but I do not think it would surprise me if he did.

I will make a prediction though ( going way out on a limb here ) someone we do not expect to be cut this preseason will not be on the team come September 12th. ;)

I really like that we have a QB with some character for the first time in a long time. I hope this guy shines here in DC not just because I am a Skins fan, but I have alwasy liked DM and I like watching Eagles fans suffer. I got a lot of buddies who are Iggles fans an they always blast me when they beat us and plus of there recent success. I always go back to the 3 Lombardis that the Skins and we have, but that arguement is getting a little old.

Well thats one way to look at it, apparently. I could care less about filthy philly fans for sure but McNabb just want him to do his job, he has always been a hatted enemy until the recent trade. I like HIM NOW for only ONE REASON he's a SKIN he's also a big improvement over our most recent dud QB/SOUP!

I have only one expectation for him and its simple do your job and help my beloved REDSKINS WIN only, thats all that matters. Its only about WINS. Nothing matters but winning football games!

I don't think Kelly will be cut, because he has upside and potential, but this is his last chance to make it I'm sure.

But, there is speculation and Owens IS still available...
Malcolm Kelly
Comcast Sportsnet Washington's Ryan O'Halloran speculates that WR Malcolm Kelly's roster spot could be in jeopardy this summer.
The speed-challenged Kelly has given the Redskins little over his first two seasons, and he doesn't contribute on special teams. The new regime has nothing invested in him, so his second-round pedigree may be a non-factor. With Chris Cooley expected to play a Dallas Clark-type slot role in two-tight end sets, Kelly would be bench-bound even if he sticks.
I love the sound of Cooley in a Dallas Clark role. TD machine.

Honestly I wouldn't expect much coverage of something like that.

Here ya go.
I've been watching Donovan McNabb practicing with his new teammates here in Arizona this week, and the results are looking good. He threw some passes, his receivers caught some passes, and the "syncing" is happening right before my eyes. I don't want to cause a fuss, but Devin Thomas is looking slow and out of shape, almost quasi-Albert Haynesworthish, and he looks like he doesn't care. Not boding well for him and if Mike Shanahan watched this practice, he'd probably want to cut him by the end. But that Armstrong kid is pretty ballin, it looks like he's in line to become the next Miles Austin if I do say so myself.

I can't confirm this of course. :laughing-

Yeah, I saw that article about cutting Kelly. I agree, it's a bunch of balloney. It just doesn't make sense to drop one of the few young WR's on our roster. He may not have shown up yet in games, but I think he at least has some potential. He certainly has a chance to improve dramatically this year under McNabb and a improved (?) offensive line. To me, dropping Kelly to make room for 38yo Galloway or a 37yo Owens makes NO sense.
